A Collingwood supporter needed to be restrained by security after launching an aggressive verbal attack on the umpires as they walked off the ground during Brisbane's heart-stopping one-point win on Thursday night.

The irate fan was angry after the Magpies lost the game after the siren, with Lions utility Zac Bailey drilling a goal from outside 50 to earn his team their first win of the season.

In a video filmed by 3AW's Jacqui Reed, the Collingwood supporter approached the umpires race before unleashing a tirade of abuse on the officials as they exited the field of play.

A security guard restrained the fan and eventually manage to force the angry patron to retreat from the area.

After getting in front early in the first quarter, Collingwood didn't surrender the lead until after the final siren, as their supporters were regularly heard voicing their discontent at umpiring decisions during the match.

The final tally of free kicks for the match was even with each team receiving 17 decisions in their favour.

Collingwood led by as much as 25 points mid-way through the second quarter, but failed to maintain their advantage as the Lions slowly clawed their way back into the match.

The Lions got the margin within a kick during the third quarter, but goals to Brody Mihocek and Jeremy Howe either side of the last break gave all the momentum to Collingwood.

But Brisbane continued to surge in the last quarter and as the Magpies tried to run the clock down to maintain their advantage, they lost all their attacking impetus.

In a superb final play, the Lions took the ball through the centre corridor after winning a contest at half-back, with Daniel Rich spotting up the leading Bailey 52m out directly in front.

As the siren went, 21-year-old Bailey continued to look relaxed as he strode in to kick the set shot, with the ball sailing comfortably through the middle of the goals, as Lions players and supporters went wild.

It was poetic justice for Bailey, who should have been the hero last week in the one-point defeat to Geelong, when his tackle on Mark Blicavs went unrewarded in the dying seconds.
