Geelong coach Chris Scott has lamented the fact that the AFL Grand Final will be held at the MCG until 2057, calling the decision a "travesty."

The deal, worth around $225 million, was made last year between the AFL, the Victorian government and the MCC, ensuring the Grand Final stays at the MCG for the next four decades.

The decision by the AFL was met with heavy criticism at the time, with the argument being made that the grand final of a national competition should not be played at the one venue every year.

Scott, who was on Fox Footy's AFL360 Monday night, echoed these sentiments, saying that the call did not sit well with him.

“I’ll say it once more because it’s locked in for 40 years or whatever it is: I don’t think that’s right either,” Scott said.

“Maybe that’s my influence by my playing days up in Brisbane, but we’re truly a national competition now.

“To have the grand final locked in to the MCG is a travesty.”

Sydney coach John Longmire agreed with the Cats' coach, saying that in the interest of fairness, the Grand Final should be shared around Australia.

“You won’t get any argument from me,” Longmire said.

“It’s a national competition.

“It’s a wonderful venue, but we’re pretty clear on what we believe … It’d be great to take the biggest game in the land around the place.”

Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins was another who was all for the Grand Final being moved around the country.

"it's not fair," Jenkins told Channel Seven on Friday night.

"I've been to Melbourne, Grand Final week...there's nothing better. So I'm not saying Melbourne don't deserve it, but in terms of fairness...it's not fair."
