Recently crowned Rising Star Caleb Serong has signed a contract extension with the Dockers.

The impressive on-baller has inked a new deal that will tie him to Fremantle until at least the end of 2023.

Serong, 19, is from Victoria and on the back of a debut season which saw him comfortably claim the Rising Star honour, would have had no shortage of suitors if he wanted to return home at the end of his initial two-year deal.

Though in a show of faith in the club's direction, the midfielder has committed his future to the Dockers.

“I just love the family feel around the club. Everyone is really close and it’s a really young group,” Serong said.

“We’re really close-knit and it’s really exciting what we’re building.

“It was a really easy decision for me, I was able to do it as soon as I could and I’m really excited to be locked in for a few more years.”

In Justin Longmuir's first season as coach, Fremantle showed significant improvement, particularly their young midfield group featuring Serong and fellow youngsters Andrew Brayshaw and Adam Cerra.

The Dockers finished 12th with a 7-10 record, a result most fans would have taken at the start of the season.

“I think we’ve got a lot of confidence in what this group can do,” Serong said.

“In the back half of this year, we’ve really shown the excitement is there. Not just for this group but for the fans and everyone watching.

“I think all the boys are really excited about what we can do and achieve with who we have here at the moment, I can’t wait for the next few years.”
