Brayden Sier: Collingwood midfielder plays basketball under fake name while injured image

In one of the season's stranger footy stories, Collingwood's Brayden Sier could find himself in trouble with his club after reportedly playing a game of basketball while injured.

According to AFL.com.au's Mitch Cleary, Sier played under a fake name in a Diamond Valley Basketball League match despite being sidelined with a calf injury.

The midfielder reportedly signed his name as 'Phill Inn' on the teamsheet and played around 20 minutes.

Cleary reports that two eyewitnesses confirmed Sier played against them, with 'Phill Inn' scoring six points in the match.

It comes at a time when Collingwood are in the midst of an injury crisis as they head towards the finals.

If the 21-year-old, who has missed the past four games with a calf injury, is still recovering, the Pies are unlikely to look kindly on him playing a game of basketball.

Coincidentally, it comes on the same day that reports emerged that the youngster had agreed to a contract extension with the club.

There was significant talk that Sier might leave Collingwood, with Essendon one of the clubs thought to be chasing him.

A report in the Herald Sun says the Victorian has agreed a new deal with the club, keeping him there until the end of 2021.

The big-bodied onballer has played 18 senior games, including featuring in last year's grand final, though injury and competition for spots have limited him to just six this year.

Playing a game of basketball without the permission of the club while injured is unlikely to his chances of a recall any good.
