Barry Hall reveals struggles after fallout from vulgar on-air comments image

Former St Kilda and Sydney Swans star Barry Hall has revealed the financial toll his ‘inappropriate’ on-air comment about Leigh Montagna’s pregnant wife has taken on his family.

Hall was sacked on the spot by Triple M over the vulgar comments made during a live broadcast ahead of the Round 15 clash between the Western Bulldogs and Geelong Cats.

In an interview with 60 Minutes to be aired on Channel 9, Hall, who has gone to ground since the latest controversy to rock his career, painted a grim picture of his future.

“It was a bit unrehearsed, it was an off-the-cuff comment that was inappropriate for air,” Hall told 60 Minutes.

“It shouldn’t have been on radio, 100 percent.

“The thing is, as I’ve said, we’ve got no income now, and there is no real light at the end of the tunnel of when that will change or when that will be.

“… It’s a big cock up.”

The aggressive Hall was also no stranger to controversy throughout his highly successful 289 game AFL career with the Saints and Swans.

The four-time All Australian and AFL Premiership winner with the Swans hung up the boots in 2011.

He has a one-year-old son with former Hi-5 member Lauren Brant.

At the time of his brain snap in late June, Hall expressed remorse over the tasteless remarks.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise for any offence taken from my commentary on Friday night’s Triple M footy coverage,” Hall told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“It was a silly thing to say and it is not a reflection of who I am or what my views are … (I) have nothing but respect for women."
