Port Adelaide's preliminary final capitulation against the Western Bulldogs has been described as 'an abomination' by the club's general manager Chris Davies.
The Power was thrashed by 71 points at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night with a spot in the AFL Grand Final against Melbourne on the line.
It was a game that was over at the end of the first quarter, with the Bulldogs kicking seven-goals-to-one to stun the pro-Port Adelaide crowd.
Speaking to media on Wednesday, Davies didn't pull any punches when he described the performance from the Power team.
"In the cold, hard light of day, there’s some obvious parts of the game that we didn’t get right,” Davies said.
"Our work around the ball was abysmal and our contest work around the ground wasn’t at the level that it needs to be.
"We were beaten by a really good Western Bulldogs team, but we didn’t give an account of ourselves that we’re overly proud of."
However, there was some optimism from the Power official over the state of the club's list going forward.
"I’d be sitting here more worried if we had a list that we didn’t believe would improve,” Davies said.
"We still think the list has got some improvement, which I think is really important right now.
"Saturday night was an abomination; I get it, and we’re not hiding from that.
"But we think we’ve got a group who will get better."
Port Adelaide lost their second consecutive home preliminary final against the Bulldogs, this time on the back of a seven-game win streak which saw them installed as second flag favourites.
