AFL Tribunal: Daniel Howe set to miss remainder of Hawthorn's home and away season after two separate charges image

Hawthorn midfielder Daniel Howe is set to miss the remainder of the Hawks' home and away season after the AFL Tribunal suspended him for five weeks for two separate incidents.

Howe was suspended for three weeks for tripping Carlton's Zac Fisher late in the first quarter of the Hawks' huge victory over the Blues during round 18.

The incident left Fisher with a fractured leg, with the injury set to rule the 20-year-old out for the remainder of the season.

The trip can be seen in the video below.

The Tribunal took under 20 minutes to uphold the Match Review's 'severe' impact grading, and less than another five minutes to determine a three-week sanction.

"It was never my intention to hurt Zac," Howe said following the decision.

"I'm disappointed with the outcome. I've got a good training block ahead of me and hopefully, the boys make finals so I can take part in that.

"I'm confident in the direction the club is heading in, so we'll wait and see if they make finals but I'm confident we'll be there at the end of the year."

Earlier on Tuesday, Howe also accepted a two-week sanction for striking Patrick Cripps in the same game, an incident which can also be seen below.

The incident occurred off the ball and left Cripps on the floor for quite some time as his Blues teammates dealt with Howe.

It means the young Hawks midfielder will only don Hawthorn's guernsey again in 2018 if his side can make the finals.

They currently sit in eighth position on the AFL ladder with games against Fremantle, Essendon, Geelong, St Kilda and Sydney to go.

In other Tribunal news, Brisbane Lions' Tom Cutler wasn't successful in contesting his two-match ban for rough conduct on Adelaide Crows' Lachlan Murphy.
