According to The Herald Sun 's Jon Ralph, Scully's move back to Melbourne is based on family circumstances.

That troublesome ankle of Scully’s will be the sticking point of the medical, though.  Scully’s lone appearance for 2018 was in round two , when he fractured his ankle against Collingwood.

The 27-year-old has played 152 matches since being the No.1 pick in the 2009 AFL Draft. After being drafted my Melbourne and playing two seasons there, Scully headed north for a six-year, $6 million deal with GWS.

According to AFL.com.au , Scully current deal is worth about half that.

Although Scully has made it clear that the list of clubs he’d consider going to are ones that are closest to a premiership, if that changes, St Kilda list manager James Gallagher is keen to talk.

We’ve sound out his management - I think Tom would be perfect us,” he told Macquarie Sports Radio.

“I think it’s been heavily documented that we lack a real bit of outside running prowess.

“Add to that his finishing ability and his overall ability as a footballer and I think he’d be an outstanding fit for us.”

Ruckman Rory Lobb and midfielder Will Setterfield have also told the Giants that they wish to explore potential trades.
