Peter Ladhams to Sydney

Peter Ladhams and pick 16 head to Sydney for pick 12 and a future third-round pick.

Jordan Clark to Fremantle

The Geelong speedster, and a future fourth-round pick, gets to Fremantle for pick 22 and a future third-round pick.

Three ruckmen find new homes

With the trade deadline nearing, three big men will be in new colours in 2022.

Darcy Fort (Geelong to Brisbane), Jonathan Ceglar (Hawthorn to Geelong) and Max Lynch (Collingwood to Hawthorn) all look set to be signed off.

Fort and pick 41 go to Brisbane in exchange for pick 50 and a future third-round pick.

Cegler and a future fourth-round pick go to Geelong for a future third-round pick.

Lynch, Fremantle’s future third-round and Gold Coast’s future fourth-round picks go the Hawks, for Hawthorn's future third-round pick and Brisbane’s future third-round picks

Bobby Hill deal off as GWS pulls out

It's debatable whether they were ever really "in", but GWS have withdrawn from negotiations surrounding Bobby Hill.

The small forward had requested a trade to Essendon to be closer to family in Victoria, but the Giants are unwilling to part with the contracted player.

GWS had attempted to lure Luke Breust to Sydney but couldn't convince the Hawks champ, while Toby Greene's suspension makes Hill all the more required in 2022.

Giants footy boss Jason McCartney explained their position on Sportsday.

Luke Breust cold on Giants interest

Hawthorn small forward has knocked back interest from GWS despite both clubs being keen on the move.

Breust has two years to run on his deal with the Hawks, but The Age reports a trade had all but been agreed for the three-time premiership-winning forward.

The deal would have seen Bruest and pick 24 head to the Giants in exchange for pick 13, while the report also claims Hawthorn would have paid a portion of Breust's salary.

Breust's lack of interest in the move however meant the deal never really got going.

Swans looking to wrap up deal for Peter Ladhams

Sydney are looking to complete the trade for Port Adelaide ruckman Peter Ladhams after Jordan Dawson's departure to Adelaide was confirmed

The 23-year-old has told the Power he wants to move to the Swans but a deal is yet to figured out ahead of the 7.30pm trade deadline on Wednesday.

Port Adelaide are understood to want a first-round pick for Ladhams, with the future first-rounder (tied to Melbourne) given to the Swans for Dawson in their sights.

But currently, Sydney has only offered its second round pick, with haggling set to continue between the two clubs until deadline.

Jordan Clark and Geelong at loggerheads

Wantaway Geelong speedster Jordan Clark has reportedly had a heated conversation with Cats list boss Stephen Wells over his stalled move to Fremantle.

Originally from WA, Clark has requested a move to the Dockers but the two clubs have been unable to agree on a trade as yet.

SEN 's Sam Edmund reports Clark and Wells had a tesne phone conversation as the trade deadline closes in.

Swans agree to Jordan Dawson offer

Adelaide will get their man after Sydney agreed to trade 23-year-old wingman Jordan Dawson.

After significant negotiations, the Swans finally agreed to swap the out-of-contract Dawson for Melbourne's 2022 first-round pick, according to AFL.com.au .

The threat of receiving no compensation for the player who finished third in their best and fairest, should he have gone to the pre-season draft, no doubt playing a factor as the trade deadline nears.

Deals can't be lodged until midday on Wednesday, but by all reports this one is over the line.

Bobby Hill expected to get to Essendon

The Bombers look set to land small forward Bobby Hill from GWS despite the Giants talking tough on Tuesday.

GWS footy manager Jason McCartney said the deal was "highly unlikely" but reports on Wedneday suggest Essendon's latest offer will get it over the line.

SEN 's Sam Edmund reports the Bombers are willing to part with next year's second-round pick, though would want Hill and perhaps another pick coming back the other way.

Jarrod Brander eyeing off potential free agent move

West Coast forward Jarrod Brander is uncontracted for next season but the Eagles have been holding out for a trade offer in order the receive something for the 22-year-old.

With no offer forthcoming, Brander is hopeful of being delisted by West Coast and finding his way to another club as a free agent.

"I’m hopeful something happens this period. I’ve had a few clubs saying they’re having a bit of a look but it’s getting pretty late," Brander's manager David Trotter told Trade Radio .

"Hopefully they (West Coast) do the right thing and he’ll become a delisted free agent, that might open up some more avenues for him.

"If that (staying at Eagles) was his only option he’d look at it but I think both parties in terms of Jarrod and the club have said with where you sit, it’s not the right fit in terms of list position for us and where you play for us.

"He wants to continue his AFL career. There wouldn’t be too many people out there who think he’s not good enough to be on an AFL list."

Brander has played 22 senior games since being selected with pick 13 in 2017.

Bombers to offer second-round pick for Hill as Collingwood flag interest

Essendon are poised to offer a second-round pick in exchange for Giant Bobby Hill, while Collingwood have also emerged as a potential suitor for the exciting small forward.

After formally requesting a trade and outlining Essendon as his club of choice, Hill's market value is currently being assessed.

According to Fox Footy's Tom Morris, at this stage the Bombers will offer up picks 51 and 56 in this year's draft, or potentially a future second-round pick in 2022, to facilitate the move.

The Giants are hesitant to let Hill leave and could still hold the electric 21-year-old to his contract next year.

Meanwhile, according to the Herald Sun , Collingwood have expressed interest in speaking with Hill should discussions between the Giants and Bombers fall over.

North stand firm over Saints' bid for young ruckman

North Melbourne general manager of football Brad Rawlings said it will take a "very attractive" offer for the club to let Tristan Xerri join St. Kilda.

The 22-year-old is contracted to North for 2022 but has requested a move to Moorabin next season.

Drafted in 2017, Xerri has featured in 12 games for the Kangaroos and is currently stuck behind veteran Todd Goldstein in the ruck pecking order.

However, Rawlings has declared North Melbourne are eager to hang onto Xerri, who they see as having a big future at the club.

“We’ve got no real interest in losing Tristan at all, but he has requested a trade. It would have to take something very attractive for us to even consider it,” Rawlings told SEN.

“Given he’s in contract, he’s very much a required player for us."

The Roos' firm stance comes despite the recent acquisition of young ruckman Callum Coleman-Jones from Richmond.

As it stands, the Herald Sun reports St. Kilda have made a couple of offers for Xerri centering on exchanging late picks, however North Melbourne are after a future second-round selection at the very least.

The Saints currently hold picks 9, 62, 66, 67 and 85 in this year’s draft.

Collingwood's Max Lynch requests trade to Hawthorn

Collingwood ruckman Max Lynch has asked to be traded to Hawthorn

The 23-year-old has made the request but discussions haven't started between the two clubs, Magpies football boss Graham Wright said on 3AW Sportsday .

Lynch has only played three games in five seasons on Collingwood's list, finding himself behind Brodie Grundy, Brodie Cameron and Mason Cox in the pecking order.

Wright confirmed Collingwood want to keep Lynch, but wouldn't stop the big man from leaving the club if the right deal could be struck with the Hawks.

Peter Ladhams declares Sydney wish

Contracted Port Adelaide ruckman Peter Ladhams has informed his club of his wish to be traded to Sydney.

The 23-year-old had been told he could explore his options earlier in the trade period and has met with the Swans and Hawthorn virtually over the last couple of weeks.

AFL.com.au reports on Monday Ladhams informed Port he was keen to to join Sydney.

If a trade can be agreed, Ladhams is expected to provide support for Tom Hickey in the ruck, while adding key forward depth alongside Lance Franklin and Logan McDonald.

It's understood Port are hoping for a first-round pick in return, though they may have to wait for Jordan Dawson's move to the Crows to go through first.

Crows make new offer for Jordan Dawson

Adelaide's bid to land Sydney free agent Jordan Dawson has taken another turn with a new offer.

The clubs have failed to reach an agreement so far, with the Crows not yet meeting the Swans' valuation of the 23-year-old wingman.

Fox Footy reports the Crows have offered Melbourne's 2022 first-round pick for Dawson.

That pick would be at worst 18 if the Demons were to win the flag again next year, though it remains to be seen whether that will satify Sydney who have already said they feel Dawson is the best player on the market this year.

Wingard responds to GWS link

Hawthorn forward Chad Wingard has responded to reports linking him with a move to GWS.

Wingard posted an Instagram story featuring a gif of Leonardo Di Caprio's "I'm not f**kin' leaving!" scene from The Wolf of Wall Street.

Accompanying the story is Lupe Fiasco's 'The Show Goes On.'

Make of that what you will.

Earlier, the  Herald Sun  reported GWS could make an offer for 28-year-old following Bobby Hill's trade request.

Tyson Stengle nears Geelong move

Small forward Tyson Stengle looks set to join Geelong as a delisted free agent, according to the Herald Sun .

The 22-year-old had his contract terminated over off-field disciplinary issues by the Crows earlier this year but enjoyed a standout season for Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL.

Stengle is set to link up with former mentor Eddie Betts, who took the youngster under his wing while in Adelaide.

The recently retired Betts has joined the Cats as a development coach.

Patrick Lipinski gets to Collingwood

The Pies have secured midfielder Patrick Lipinski in a trade for pick 43 from the Bulldogs.

Lipinski, 23, was uncontracted but not a free agent, meaning a trade had to be agreed.

Pick 43 seems cheap for the 56-gamer, suggesting Collingwood cashed in some of the goodwill left over between the clubs following Adam Treloar's move to the Dogs last year.

GWS linked with Chad Wingard move

The Giants are reportedly considering a move for Hawks star Chad Wingard as a replacement for Bobby Hill.

Hawthorn's willingness to improve their draft hand and fast-track their rebuild by potentially trading away big names has been well reported.

It's a move which would have an extra layer of intrigue given the South Australian, who was considered among the best players in the 2011 Draft, declared he would leave the club if GWS selected him with one of their 11 picks in the first 14, seeing him get to Port Adelaide.

GWS currently have the second pick, while Hawks have the fifth, potentially opening the door for a pick swap if Wingard is to depart Hawthorn.

Wingard and Hill are both contracted at their respective clubs for another season, with Hill's potential move to Essendon, as well as Rory Lobb's mooted traded back to the Giants, potential dominoes to fall before Wednesday's trade deadline.

North Melbourne knock back second offer

There can be no doubt North Melbourne are set on hanging on to the number one pick after a second club - Richmond - came at them with a big offer for the prized selection.

Having already turned down interest from Adelaide, who were desperately hoping to secure South Adelaide-product Jason Horne-Francis with the pick, the Roos have again rebuffed an offer.

AFL.com.au reports  the Tigers offered picks 7, 15, 26 and ruck-forward Callum Coleman-Jones for the number one selection.

It wasn't enough to tempt the Roos, who eventually got Coleman-Jones in a trade for Robbie Tarrant and some pick swaps.

Hill prefers Bombers move

After it was first reported by Fox Footy yesterday, Bobby Hill has officially told the GWS Giants of his desire to be traded away from the club.

The electric small forward has outlined his preferred destination as Essendon, with the 21-year-old and his pregnant partner wanting to be closer to family in Victoria.

The Giants are yet to reveal their stance on Hill's trade request.

Bobby Hill seeks move to Victoria

GWS small forward Bobby Hill is reportedly seeking a trade away from GWS to a Victorian club for compassionate reasons.

According to Fox Footy , Hill, whose partner is pregnant, wishes to be nearer family in Victoria - his cousin Bradley Hill plays for St Kilda.

Seven 's Tom Browne reports Essendon are one club interested in Hill.

The 21-year-old is contracted for next season and the Giants are understood to be keen to hang onto the Western Australian.

Hill has kicked 25 goals in 30 senior games since being taken with the 24th pick in the 2018 draft.

Friday, October 8

North knocks back Crows' bid for first pick

North Melbourne have declined three first-round picks tabled by Adelaide in exchange for the first pick in this year's draft, according to AFL.com.au.

The Crows reportedly offered up their fourth pick this year as well as their two first-round selections in the 2022 draft, in a bid to secure the first pick in this year's draft, which they would use to snare local product Jason Horne-Francis.

It's understood Gold Coast are also eager to advance their position in the order from pick three.

The Kangaroos' knockback of Adelaide's bold offer indicates their intent on adding Horne-Francis to their emerging midfield.

Coleman-Jones, Tarrant switch places after Tigers and Roos strike deal

Callum Coleman-Jones has joined North Melbourne after he was traded by Richmond in a deal that included Robbie Tarrant going in the other direction.

North Melbourne have parted ways with a future-second round pick, pick 40 in this year's draft and 32-year-old defender Tarrant in exchange for Coleman-Jones, picks 42 and 47 in this year's draft as well as a future fourth-round pick.

Having played in nine games over four seasons with the Tigers the 22-year-old Coleman-Jones signs with the Roos on a four-year deal, where he's expected to eventually take over from Todd Goldstein as the club's chief ruckman.

After 174 games and 14 seasons at Arden Street, Tarrant joins Richmond on a two-year deal.

Jordan Dawson deal remains a stalemate

Adelaide and the Swans are still yet to agree on a deal for Jordan Dawson.

After the uncontracted wingman requested a move to the Crows, Sydney have remained firm on their valuation of the 24-year-old.

Adelaide have now rejected the Swans' second proposal, as the stalemate between the two clubs over the Dawson move remains.

Sydney in box seat for Peter Ladhams

Port Adelaide tall Peter Ladhams is firming for a move to the Swans after the Power informed him he could explore his options.

Ladhams, who will be 24 next season, is contracted for next season but looks set to head to Sydney as they prepare for life after Tom Hickey, according to Sam Edmund.

Hickey turns 31 next year and managed a knee injury throughout his first season at the Swans.

If Ladhams ends up in red and white, he'll reportedly join as backup to Hickey, while offering key forward depth alongside Lance Franklin and the emerging Logan McDonald.

Jeff Kennett flags possible Hawks departures

Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett has explained his letter to club members in which told them they may be "surprised" by some list management decisions.

Kennett appeared on SEN on Friday, again appearing to flag the possibility of some key Hawks leaving the club.

"I’m forewarning them of the possibility that there may be decisions made that I have no say in whatsoever that might shock us," Kennett said.

"I don’t know that that will happen. I’m just saying if it does, understand it’s made by those people we’ve employed with more football knowledge and skills that we have and they’re doing it in our interests.

"It’s just precaution, it’s just being responsible, it’s really writing about the obvious."

Meanwhile, with Hawthorn in the midst of a rebuild, several big-name stars including Tom Mitchell, Jaeger O'Meara and Jack Gunston are being reported as gettable for the right price.

Dockers star Rory Lobb could return to GWS

Fremantle big man Rory Lobb could be involved in a sensational trade back to his former club GWS.

The 29-year-old left the Giants in 2019 for a return to his home state of Western Australia, but could now head back to Western Sydney after reportedly doing a medical with GWS .

There has been suggestion through the season that Lobb wanted out of Fremantle but his $700,000 a year contract with two years remaining has been a sticking point for clubs.

The Dockers' public position has been that Lobb is a required player.

Lobb was selected with pick 29 in the 2013 draft and played 74 games at the Giants before moving to Fremantle for a further 45 matches.

Adam Cerra finds his way to Carlton

Fremantle midfielder Adam Cerra has competed his requested trade to Carlton.

Along with the midfielder, Fremantle snared picks 19, 61 and 69 as compensation for taking on Brodie's contract, which was believed to be around $400,000 in 2022.

Brodie was selected by the Suns with pick nine in the 2016 draft but has played 24 games in five seasons.

Wednesday, October 6

Demons snare Luke Dunstan from St Kilda

St Kilda midfielder Luke Dunstan has joined premiers Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent.

The 26-year-old wasn't offered a new contract by the Saints despite picking up 11 Brownlow votes in 12 games, averaging 25 disposals a game.

Dunstan was selected at pick 18 in the 2013 National Draft and has played 116 games for the Saints.

"We came into this trade period looking to re-stock the midfield area and Luke fits the bill perfectly," Lamb told  Melbourne Media .

"We are really happy that Luke has chosen to make the move to our club.

"With Nathan Jones retiring and Aaron vandenBerg moving on, we have lost a considerable amount of experience out of our midfield group.

"Luke is a proven performer at the highest level and finished this season in exceptional fashion polling 11 votes in the Brownlow Medal.

"We think Luke’s best football is ahead of him and just as importantly, Luke is a terrific cultural fit for our club."

Jeremy Finlayson gets to Alberton

Versatile tall Jeremy Finlayson has been traded to Port Adelaide, with GWS receiving a future third-round pick in return.

Finlayson had expressed a desire to move to South Australia, closer to his partner's family following the birth of the their first child.

Finlayson, who was previously contracted until the end of 2023, played 66 games for the Giants, with his best season of 44 goals coming in 2019.

Cats reveal two possible targets

Geelong recruitment boss Stephen Wells said the club is interested in both Tyson Stengle and Jonathan Ceglar.

Small forward Stengle, 22, was delisted by Adelaide due to off-field reasons earlier this year but Wells told SEN the club had been impressed by his form with Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL.

"Yeah we are (interested)," Wells said on Wednesday.

"We do have some interest in Tyson and he’s very lucky he’s got a man like Eddie [Betts] in his corner.

"We haven’t committed to him yet, but it’s not just us that says we want Tyson. He’ll have to make that decision himself in conjunction with his management team.

"Tyson’s in a terrific position where he can have a bit of control over the decision that he makes and where he has his next opportunity at AFL level."

Stengle is available to be signed as a delisted free agent.

Wells also added the club is considering picking up Hawks ruckman Ceglar, though only if Darcy Fort departs the Cattery.

"The reason we made some inquiries about Jonathon is because there was some interest in Darcy Fort from another club," Wells added

"So yes, we have made some inquiries but that would all be dependent on whether Darcy Fort stays at the Cats and that’s still to be worked through."

Melbourne in for Luke Dunstan

The premiers are reportedly considering signing Luke Dunstan as an unrestricted free agent.

Dunstan, 26, hasn't been offered a new deal by the Saints and could add depth to the Demons' midfield stocks following the departures of Nathan Jones and Aaron vandenBerg.

The Herald Sun reports St Kilda could still receive AFL compensation as Dunstan has not been delisted.

Hawthorn and Sydney are believed to be considering a move for Ladhams, while the Bulldogs could also be interested in a new no.1.

Nathan Kreuger joins Collingwood

The first deal involving of the trade period sees the 22-year-old head to the Pies after being starved of opportunities at the Cattery.

Kreuger made his senior debut in round 20 this season, playing again the following week, both times in a key defensive role.

Swans playing hardball over Jordan Dawson

Adelaide's pursuit of Sydney wingman Jordan Dawson could be a drawn out one with the Swans set to demand strong compensation for the 24-year-old.

The Crows are unlikely to give up pick four, but their next pick, 23, won't satisfy the Swans based on football manager Charlie Gardiner's comments.

“Our view is he’s arguably the best player on the market at the moment,” Gardiner said on SEN .

“We think it’s only fair and reasonable that we expect strong compensation for him.”

A trade involving at least one other team could be the key in getting the deal over the line.

Suns struggling to dump salary cap

Gold Coast are reportedly in the midst of a salary cap dump but one player the centre of it is refusing to be traded.

Sam Edmund reports  the contracted Darcy Macpherson is unwilling to be traded to North Melbourne, while the club is keen to offload the 23-year-old's wage off their books.

Darcy Fort weighing up options

Darcy Fort's manager Scott Lucas told Trade Radio the Geelong ruckman is considering a move elsewhere after failing to play a senior game in 2022.

"Rhys Stanley has signed an extension there so we look at it pragmatically and go ‘clearly [Geelong] are pleased with what Rhys is doing'," Lucas said.

"Darcy didn’t play a game this year for Geelong so therefore you do have to look around for him and try and present some options for him to get the most out of his career.

"We have had a look into it and there is still a bit of work to do but we are hopeful."

Fort is contracted for next season but has been linked with a move to Brisbane if the Cats were to agree to a trade.

"We’d like to have a few more picks,” Mahoney said.

"We’ll try to get involved in some potential opportunities there.

Friday, October 1

"We know Jake brings important experience and will work really well alongside the likes of Jordan Ridley, Nick Hind, Jayden Laverde, Mason Redman and Dyson Heppell in our new-look backline," Dodoro said in a club statement.

"He is a seamless fit with his ability to play on dangerous small to medium forwards, so we’re really pleased Jake has chosen to come to Essendon."

Bulldogs duo Lewis Young and Jordon Sweet attract interest

Western Bulldogs face a battle to keep fringe pair Lewis Young and Jordon Sweet with both talents considering their options.

Young, 22, played nine games in 2021 and was a part of the Bulldogs' first two finals before being dropped for Stefan Martin for the preliminary final.

The out-of-contract ruck-defender is yet to sign a two-year deal offered by the Bulldogs and will meet with rival clubs imminently, with the likes of Carlton, Geelong and Brisbane looking a key position depth.

Giants allow Jeremy Finlayson to explore options at any club

GWS forward Jeremy Finlayson has been given permission to look at a move to a different club in the wake of interest from Port Adelaide.

Finlayson had a meeting with the Power during this period, and GWS football manager Jason McCartney said the Giants would allow the forward to explore his options.

"It's just a lack of family support in and around Sydney, we gave him permission to explore," McCartney said.

"He's very happy at the club, just has some concern for support around their young family now.

"I know his partner Kelly is from Port Lincoln initially, but she's lived in Melbourne as well, and Jeremy's parents now live in Brisbane, so it was a pretty open book."

Finlayson, who is contracted until the end of 2023, has played 66 games for the Giants, with his best season of 44 goals coming in 2019.

"It certainly wasn't the greatest ending (to the season) and is something we need to work through as a club," Reid said.

"We'll continue to support not just Tex but the whole playing group and the wider community, and I know that's something Tex is really focused on.

"He's someone I check in on on a fortnightly basis and he'll be playing at the Adelaide Football Club next year."

Ben King tipped to join St Kilda - Lloyd

Matthew Lloyd says all the talk he is hearing suggests Gold Coast star Ben King will join brother Max at St Kilda, but he wonders whether another club will make a late play.

King has long been rumoured to be considering a move to play alongside his twin sibling at the Saints, with the pair both supporting the club through their childhood.

Essendon legend Lloyd, who coached both of the King brothers at Haileybury College, revealed the mail from St Kilda and other clubs in Melbourne suggests Ben will be joining the Saints - most likely when his contract expires at the end of 2022.

But Lloyd is also intrigued by the possibility that a club like the Bombers, who need a key forward, could look to get draft capital to also make a play for King at the end of next season.

"St Kilda think they’ve got him, that’s the talk," Lloyd said on AFL Trade Radio . "The talk in Melbourne is that St Kilda have him and they will get Ben King.

"But I just wonder whether you will see Essendon try and get their picks forward for next season so they’re in that window."

Lloyd also warned the Saints that having both the twins in the team might not work, and he hopes one wouldn't get pushed down to defence.

"They both want to be forwards," he said.

"The last thing any of those two want is to play at centre half-back, and I just wonder whether one of them would have to go there - more so Ben - because some days it wouldn’t work.

"I love that they've formed their own identities at their own clubs, rather than being heaped in the same basket as the King brothers."

Port Adelaide enquire about Tim O'Brien

Uncontracted Hawthorn forward Tim O'Brien has reportedly caught the eye of Port Adelaide.

According to SEN 's Sam Edmund, the Power have enquired about O'Brien, potentially to play in defence or to add depth to their forward line.

The 27-year-old restricted free agent has reportedly not been offered a contract for next season by the Hawks.

He's played 97 senior games and kicked 73 goals since his debut in 2014.

Rivals asking about Ben Long

St Kilda utility Ben Long is contracted for 2022 but is reportedly garnering the interest of the several clubs around the competition.

Mitch Cleary reports Essendon are among a number of teams to have enquired about the 24-year-old.

Long has played 60 games since making his AFL debut in 2017, most recently making 15 senior appearances in 2021.

Peter Ladhams weighing up options

Port Adelaide tall Peter Ladhams could be on the move after being informed he was free to explore his options despite being contracted for next season.

Ladhams, 23, is understood to be keen to play more in the ruck, rather than forward where he has been predominantly used at Port.

Scott Lycett currently holds down the number one ruck spot at Alberton, while the emerging Sam Hayes is set to place further pressure on Ladhams.

Ladhams has played 32 AFL games and could interest clubs in need of a big man.

Saturday, September 25

Adam Cerra to nominate Carlton as preferred home

Wantaway Fremantle midfielder Adam Cerra will nominate Carlton as his preferred new home, according to a report from Fox Footy .

The 21-year-old had been expected to pick the Blues, but interest from Grand Finalist Melbourne had thrown a curve ball in the player's move back to Victoria.

Richmond were also keen on the silky onballer, but decided to focus on the draft instead of using capital to bring in Cerra.

It is expected discussions between the Dockers and Blues about compensation for Cerra will centre around the Blues' no.6 draft pick.

Cerra has played 76 games for Fremantle since being drafted with pick 5 in the 2017 draft.

Fyfe confident of securing Jordan Clark

It's not often players have much information regarding their club's trade plans but when you're Nat Fyfe, you might be privy to more than most.

The Fremantle skipper is under the impression speedster Jordan Clark will land at the Dockers over the off-season.

"I think it's near enough, I haven't heard it's confirmed but it's somewhere around the mark," Fyfe told 3AW when asked if Clark was returning to WA.

Clark, who will be 21 by the start of next season, has played 32 senior games since being taken with the 15th pick in the 2018 draft.

Brisbane targeting Cats tall

Brisbane are considering making a play for fringe Geelong ruckman Darcy Fort as they attempt to reinforce their ruck stocks.

The Lions only have Oscar McInerney as an out-and-out ruckman on their list after the retirement of back-up Archie Smith.

Fort, 28, is contracted at the Cattery until the end of the 2022 season but likely could be lured to Brisbane without the Lions needing much currency.

After only playing eight games for Geelong since joining in 2019 and none in 2021, Fort was one their best VFL players this season, kicking six goals, averaging 19 disposals and 20 hitouts.

Fort has found himself behind the likes of Rhys Stanley, Mark Blicavs and Esava Ratugolea for ruck roles at Geelong.

Wednesday, September 22

Geelong set to lose two talents

Geelong look likely to lose talented pair Nathan Kreuger and Jordan Clark in the upcoming trade period with both looking for more opportunity.

Kreuger, 24, has requested a trade to Collingwood with a three-year deal on the table, after only playing two matches for the Cats in 2021.

The 196cm South Australian is a forward and it's understood the Magpies want to use him in this position, after he spent most of the season at Geelong training as a defender with the club's tall forward riches such as Tom Hawkins, Jeremy Cameron and Esava Ratugolea.

St Kilda had also shown interest in Kreuger as a defender but Collingwood's intention to use him as a forward is preferred by the player.

West Australian midfielder Clark is expected to request a trade to Fremantle imminently, after meeting with Dockers coach Justin Longmuir last week.

The 20-year old was pick no.15 in the 2018 Draft but has only managed 29 games across three seasons at the Cattery.

Dawson outlines Crows as preferred destination

Jordan Dawson has deemed the Adelaide Crows as his preferred destination next season, according to AFL.com.au .

The 24-year-old informed Sydney he wishes to return home to Adelaide and after meeting both South Australian clubs has deemed the Crows his favoured destination.

Adelaide and Sydney will now look to facilitate a trade, with the Crows' 23rd pick in the upcoming draft expected to be included.

Blues talent Petrevski-Seton requests trade to Eagles

Carlton utility Sam Petrevski-Seton is set to leave the club after requesting a trade to West Coast, the AFL.com.au reports.

The out-of-contract 23-year-old only managed 13 games in 2021, and is wanting a return to his home state with the Eagles.

It was a possibility Petrevski-Seton could have become crucial pawn in Carlton's pitch to secure Dockers midfielder Adam Cerra, however his decision to nominate West Coast makes that difficult.

Petrevski-Seton has struggled for consistency at the Blues after being selected with pick 6 in the 2016 AFL Draft.

Monday, September 20

George Hewett expected to join Carlton

Restricted free agent George Hewett looks set to become a Blue.

The Herald Sun' s Jon Ralph reports the midfielder will sign a four-year deal worth around $450,000 per season.

Hewett, 25, has played 120 games for the Swans, developing into a reliable midfielder, able to win his own ball or play lock-down roles.

Sydney were keen to hang onto him though were unable to offer him a contract amid a tight salary cap situation.

Michael Voss emerges as front-runner for Carlton job

Former Brisbane senior coach Michael Voss is reportedly in Melbourne making a final pitch to Carlton decision-makers over the vacant head coaching position.

Voss, who is currently employed as an assistant at Port Adelaide, has, according to the Herald Sun , edged in front of Adam Kingsley and Daniel Giansiracusa for the role.

It's being reported that only a backflip from Alastair Clarkson, who has said he'd like a year off from coaching, stands between Voss and the Blues gig.

Cameron Bruce joins Lions coaching panel

The Lions will have a new midfield coach in 2022 after Cameron Bruce agreed to make the switch from Carlton.

Bruce was the only member of the Blues coaching staff left after the review which cost David Teague his job, but he's opted to link up with Chris Fagan whom he worked with during Hawthorn's three-peat.

"I’m really excited about the opportunity to team up with Fages again and to work with a group that is really contending," he said.

"And it is an opportunity to go on an adventure with my family who are all very excited about what lies ahead.

"I have a real passion for the caper and helping players get the most out of their careers and I am looking forward to getting up there and doing what I can to help this group continue to improve."

North Melbourne veteran Robbie Tarrant wants Richmond move

Richmond are set to acquire an experienced defender after it emerged Robbie Tarrant wants to move to Tigerland, according to Fox Sports .

The 32-year-old had been deciding between staying at the Kangaroos or a fresh start at Richmond.

Tarrant is an unrestricted free agent that won't cost Richmond any draft picks to acquire.

He has played 174 games for North Melbourne since being selected with pick 15 in the 2007 draft, winning the club's best-and-fairest in 2016.

Jarrod Brander to depart West Coast

Former first-round draft pick Jarrod Brander won't be offered a new contract by the Eagles.

The 22-year-old has played 22 senior games in four years on the list but struggled to nail down a regular place in the team.

Originally from Victoria, Brander could potentially move in a trade, or could enter the draft, depening on interest from around the competition.

Geelong speedster Jordan Clark talks to Fremantle

Fringe Geelong talent Jordan Clark is close to requesting a trade back home to Western Australia after having talks with Fremantle.

Fox Footy reports the 20-year-old met with Dockers coach Justin Longmuir and other club officials in Perth on Wednesday.

Clark's future at the Cattery has been in question over the last 12 months with the speedster struggling to consistently play senior football.

The utility, who hails from Albany in WA, played only 11 games in 2021, with three of those as the medical substitute.

Thursday, September 16

Richmond set to lose Callum Coleman-Jones after Chol departure

Richmond are set to suffer a second blow in 24 hours with Callum Coleman-Jones close to nominating North Melbourne as his preferred destination.

After it emerged on Wednesday that fellow big man Mabior Chol will be seeking a move to the Gold Coast, the Herald Sun reports Coleman-Jones made up his mind to leave for Arden St this week.

The Kangaroos have offered the 22-year-old a four-to-five year contract and see Coleman-Jones as the perfect foil for Todd Goldstein and to supplement Nick Larkey up forward.

Richmond only presented a two-year deal to the South Australian, and said he would be behind Toby Nankervis and Ivan Soldo for a ruck role in 2022.

North Melbourne will be unlikely to want to give up their first pick of the second round, no.20, for Coleman-Jones, who only played eight games in 2021.

Wednesday, September 15

Versatile Tiger Mabior Chol to join Gold Coast Suns

Richmond ruck-forward Mabior Chol will be playing for the Gold Coast Suns next season.

Fox Footy reports the 24-year-old has decided to join the Suns on a three-year deal with a trigger for a fourth.

There was also interest from St Kilda, but Chol has decided to relocate north with his family living close to Metricon Stadium.

The Tigers will get free agency compensation for the big man, with a pick around the third round most likely.

Jeremy Finlayson has medical at Port Adelaide

Contracted GWS forward Jeremy Finlayson could be on the move to the Power.

Seven 's Tom Browne reports the 25-year-old has undergone a medical at Port Adelaide, suggesting the wheels are already in motion for a switch.

Finlayson has two years to run on his deal at the Giants but found himself on the outer slightly in 2021.

He played 13 senior games this year, battling the likes of Jesse Hogan and Harry Himmelberg for a place in Leon Cameron's forward line.

Finlayson has kicked 90 goals in 66 senior games.

Conor McKenna considering AFL return?

Former Essendon defender Conor McKenna could be thinking about a return to Australia after winning the All-Ireland final with county Tyrone.

Alternatively, the 25-year-old could be boozed up and taking the piss as he celebrates with teammates.

McKenna tweeted asking if any AFL clubs were in need of a half back.

The Irishman then followed it up with a photo of him and teammate Brian Kennedy, suggesting a package deal for himself and a ruckman.

North Melbourne's big offer to Coleman-Jones

Richmond ruckman Callum Coleman-Jones could be headed to the Roos after the club made a significant offer to the 22-year-old.

Fox Footy' s Tom Morris said the Suns were also keen but Coleman-Jones looks set to head to Arden Street, pending the clubs agreeing a trade.

"Callum Coleman Jones, rivals believe he’ll be at North Melbourne next year on a long-term deal – probably a five-year deal on somewhere between $400,000 to $450,000, a year," Morris said.

"I believe it’s going to be this long-term deal for five years. Gold Coast also offered five years, but Coleman-Jones wants to play more in the ruck.

"It’s fair to say Todd Goldstein is closer to the end than Jarrod Witts so it makes sense to go to North Melbourne if he does want to play more in the ruck."

Tuesday, September 14

Lion ruckman Archie Smith requests trade

Fringe Brisbane Lions ruckman Archie Smith has asked for a trade away from the club in a bid to get more opportunity.

The 26-year-old didn't manage to play match in 2021 as he found himself behind Oscar McInerney, Tom Fullarton and Connor Ballenden in the ruck pecking order.

Smith has played 16 games for the Lions since being drafted at pick 34 in the 2019 Rookie Draft.

Suitors for Smith have not yet emerged but Gold Coast are reportedly in the market for a ruckman.

Monday, September 13

Carlton in battle with Melbourne for Fremantle gun Adam Cerra

Carlton face competition in securing the services of Fremantle star Adam Cerra, with premiership favourites Melbourne keen on the Victorian midfielder.

Cerra is expected to nominate the Blues as his preferred destination after the Grand Final, but is no rush for his future to be sorted.

The Demons are believed to be interested in Cerra but won't be having talks about the situation until after September 25's Grand Final.

Carlton have the No.6 draft pick in their arsenal to satisfy Fremantle to release Cerra, while Melbourne would need to get more creative as they will have one of the last two picks in the first round.

It is understood the suggestion Demons ruckman Luke Jackson could be traded to the Dockers for Cerra has been dismissed by both Melbourne and the player.

Saturday, September 11

Port Adelaide in box seat for Jordan Dawson

Classy left footer Jordan Dawson has requested a trade back to his native South Australia and will reportedly land at Port Adelaide.

According to SEN 's Sam Edmund, the Power could give up pick 17 for the 24-year-old.

"My understanding is he’s destined for Port Adelaide," Edmund said

"I think that’s where he wants to play and the feeling is mutual. 12 months after Aliir Aliir leaves Sydney for the Power, history is about to repeat with Jordan Dawson.

"Port Adelaide would have to part with pick 17, there’s going to be some massaging down here considering he’s 24 years of age, he’s a brilliant kick and he’s versatile."

Swans star Jordan Dawson requests trade

Sydney Swans midfielder Jordan Dawson has requested a trade home to South Australia after 64 games with the club.

Despite being out of contract, the 24-year-old is not a free agent and a trade will need to be made.

The club confirmed the news on Friday evening, with Swans general manager of football Charlie Gardiner admitting they were disappointed, but understood his decision.

“Jordan has indicated to the club his desire to return to South Australia to be closer to family,” he said.

“Jordan has been weighing up this decision for some time and despite there being an attractive long-term deal on offer with the Swans, he has arrived at the decision that he would like to return home.

“The news is obviously disappointing for the club. Jordan is a young, hugely talented player who is coming off a breakout season in 2021, which only adds to the disappointment.

“Given we have only learned the news this afternoon, we will take some time to work through the Club’s options leading into the trade period,” Gardiner said.

Crows backman Kelly wants out of Adelaide, linked with Essendon

Adelaide defender Jake Kelly will reportedly leave the club as a free agent and join Essendon for the 2022 season, AFL Media reports.

The 26-year-old Victorian is uncontracted and has decided to use his rights as a free agent to explore a move back to his home state.

North Melbourne were believed to have been interested in Kelly, but it's understood Essendon have won the race to sign him.

Kelly has played 110 games for the Crows since being drafted with pick 40 in the 2013 Rookie Draft.

Why Lachie Neale abandoned plan to leave Brisbane

Brisbane star Lachie Neale was put off by the publicity surrounding his possible move back to Western Australia, according to AFL journalist Damian Barrett.

A report earlier in the week stated Neale was going to seek a trade back to Fremantle for family reasons, with Brisbane then saying discussions with the 2020 Brownlow medallist were ongoing.

However, Neale announced he would be staying at the club on Thursday .

Speaking on the AFL Daily podcast, Barrett feels Neale was rushed into making a decision after the saga become public, instead of taking the time to think things through.

“I read it that he wasn’t able to do the legwork on the potential transaction behind the scenes long enough,” Barrett said. “He got spooked by the public element to it.

“He would have ideally been able to have these conversations without it being public, as it was for a week, and without it then needing an answer pretty quickly.

“These are the sorts of things that could have been done, in Lachie’s best interests, on the day of trade period starting. That’s when some of these big moves have happened in the past.”

Richmond pair being targeted by the Suns

Gold Coast Suns are preparing bids for uncontracted Richmond duo Mabior Chol and Callum Coleman-Jones.

The two Tiger ruck-forward's both remain unsigned for next season as they weigh up their future after being in-and-out of the team in 2021.

With Ben King needing support in attack and out of contract at end of 2022, the Suns are looking to bring in one or two forwards in the upcoming trade and draft period.

Gold Coast would be prepared to offer multi-year deals for Coleman-Jones or Chol - contracts that would likely be more lucrative than they could secure at Tigerland.

Richmond would like to keep both Coleman-Jones and Chol, but opportunities are limited for both with Jack Riewoldt, Tom Lynch and Toby Nankervis ahead of the pair in ruck and forward line positions.

Thursday, September 9

Neale to stay in Brisbane

Lions midfielder Lachie Neale has confirmed he'll remain at the club .

The reigning Brownlow Medal winner has been linked with a move back to Western Australia in recent days but the 28-year-old put those rumours to bed.

"I'm committed and staying at the footy club," Neale said.

"It's been a whirlwind few days and everything has sort of gotten a little out of hand but I'm fully committed to the club and came in and told (coach Chris Fagan), (football manager) Danny Daly and (CEO) Greg Swann that's the case and I'm so excited to be pushing on."

Demons linked to move for Cerra

Fremantle midfielder Adam Cerra has already informed the club of his wish to return to Victoria, but his destination remains unclear.

Carlton is the club most heavily linked to the 21-year-old, but The Age reports Melbourne could come to the party, having presented to the onballer via video call this week.

The report claims Melbourne could offer a similar deal to the Blues, but Carlton have a stronger hand to trade with.

Freo could potentially enquire about emerging ruck-forward Luke Jackson, but the Dees won't trade the recently crowned Rising Star.

Jarrod Cameron announces his own departure?

Young West Coast small forward Jarrod Cameron is contracted for 2022 but may have just announced his own departure from the club.

The 21-year-old posted to Instagram a photo alongside teammates Willie Rioli and Liam Ryan with the caption "Thanks for the time."

Word out of the Eagles at the moment is Cameron has not requested a trade or been delisted, does he know something they don't?

Essendon emerge in Dylan Stephens hunt

Off-contract Swan Dylan Stephens has been linked with a move away from the club in search of more senior opportunity.

The South Australian has been offered a two-year deal by Sydney but the club's salary cap situation and just 15 senior games in his first two seasons could force the former number five pick out.

Fox Footy 's Tom Morris reports the Bombers are interested.

"There’s definite interest from Adelaide, there’s also interest from Essendon," Morris said.

"He was starved of senior opportunities this year, he clearly wants to have more senior opportunities.

"It’s just whether he feels that’s going to be at the Swans, where a two-year deal is on the table, or at Essendon. Watch this space with Dylan Stephens."

Wednesday, September 8

Sydney star Luke Parker turns back on free agency

Reigning and three-time Swans best and fairest Luke Parker has signed a four-year contract extension , likely tying him to the club for life.

"I absolutely love the club and I wanted to be part of the long term and really drive the group through this next period," he said.

"I’m really excited about what the future looks like. We have a great group and we have taken some big steps forward this year.

"The group we’ve got coming through is so exciting. We’ve got some young guys who are just starting out in their careers and you ride the bumps with them, you ride the exciting times with them, and it’s such good fun."

Parker, 28, has played 235 games with the Swans since being picked up in the 2010 draft.

Freo boss weighs in on Lachie Neale situation

Dockers CEO Simon Garlick has warned the club will be "objective" in any move for star midfielder Lachie Neale if a trade request was to come.

"It’s a really exciting prospect based on the player that he is and what he’s achieved so far in the game, but that’s what it is at the moment in reality, it’s a hypothetical situation," Garlick said on Sportsday WA .

"The reality is if you pull it apart forensically it’s well regarded that we’ve got some strong coverage in that area inside mid, but the reality is also that a player of that ilk and that quality is clearly something you’d be enthusiastic to look at closely.

"Like anything when you look at these things you’ve got to be really objective about it all."

Meanwhile, Neale's father has warned media and fans to cool their jets on his son's future.

"He hasn't requested a trade. The disappointing thing was that it hit the media and it's gone into meltdown the last couple of days," Robbie Neale told ABC radio in South Australia.

"Certain sections of the footy media have had strong opinions about it, but they're five steps ahead of reality.

"The reality is it's purely a discussion that was had internally.

"This is a bit like there's a bushfire happening, but as far as we're concerned the match isn't even out of the box."

AFL hoping to lure Clarkson to Gold Coast

The AFL is reportedly attempting to lure Alastair Clarkson north to coach the Suns in a bid to bring some success to the club which is yet to play finals footy.

Journalist Caroline Wilson revealed AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan was invovled.

"I think Gillon McLachlan is working on Alastair Clarkson as we speak, and has been for some time to get him to the Gold Coast," Wilson said on Footy Classified .

"I think Stuart Dew will assume the [caretaker] role next year and I think Wayne Campbell will come in pretty soon and take over the footy operations job at the Gold Coast."

Bob Murphy joins Fremantle

Former Bulldogs skipper Bob Murphy has joined Fremantle as a head of football involved in both the AFL and AFLW teams.

"We are delighted to welcome Bob into both our AFL and AFLW programs in the role of Head of Football and High Performance," Dockers footy manager Peter Bell said.

"It was clear how highly valued and respected he was at the Western Bulldogs and these leadership traits will be especially important at Fremantle as we look to foster the development of our young and talented AFL and AFLW lists.

"It’s especially important to the club that Bob has been an incredible advocate of the AFL Women’s competition and we are excited about him bringing that passion to Fremantle ahead of season six commencing in January."

Brisbane reveal Lachie Neale is yet to ask for a trade amid Fremantle rumours

Lachie Neale has not yet requested a trade back to previous club Fremantle, the Brisbane Lions confirmed on Monday afternoon.

Reports were swirling on Sunday night suggesting the 2020 Brownlow medallist would seek a move back to the Dockers - where he started his career - for family reasons.

However a Lions statement said the 28-year-old had not yet officially asked to leave Brisbane but was still in discussions with his family and the club about his future.

"The Brisbane Lions have today met with midfielder Lachie Neale," the statement read.

"Lions CEO Greg Swann, GM of Football Danny Daly and Senior Coach Chris Fagan sat down with the Brownlow medallist following reports he was seeking to return to Western Australia.

"Neale and his wife Jules are expecting their first child and he has confirmed the couple are weighing up where they would like to raise their family.

"He did not request a trade but has asked for some time to have further discussions with his wife and family.

"The Lions will not make any further comment at this stage and we request that Lachie and Jules’ privacy be respected."

Neale began his career at Fremantle in 2012, playing 135 games and winning two club best and fairest awards before seeking a sensational trade to the Lions at the end of the 2018 season.

Since joining Brisbane, Neale won the Brownlow medal in 2020 and has been a two-time All Australian, with the Lions finishing top four in all three seasons he has been at the club.

North Melbourne put the broom through fitness staff

The Kangaroos will attempt to change their recent injury fortunes by overhauling their fitness staff.

North have struggled to keep their best players on the park in recent seasons and this year picked up their first wooden spoon since 1972.

SEN reports five high-performance staff were this week let go, joining three fitness personnel who departed during the season.

Sunday, September 5

Brownlow Medalist Lachie Neale's trade wish bombshell

Saturday's agonising finals loss to the Bulldogs could mark the end of midfielder Lachie Neale's time at the Lions.

According to Channel 7 reporter Ryan Daniels , last year's Brownlow Medal winner was keen to be traded back to former club Fremantle next season.

Daniels reports Neale and his wife wish to raise their family in Western Australia.

Given Neale is under contract, the Dockers would need to present a suitable trade offer to the Lions to acquire the 28-year-old.

Neale joined Brisbane from Fremantle at the start of 2019 and has become one of the most dominant midfielders in the game, earning dual All-Australian honours in his first two seasons under Chris Fagan.

Saturday, September 4

Ziebell and Tarrant seeking longer term deals

North Melbourne veterans Jack Ziebell and Robbie Tarrant remain unsigned for next season.

According to SEN , the pair are keen on securing longer term deals with the club, while the Roos have only offered one-year contracts at this point.

Captain Ziebell will be 31 by the start of next season, while key defender Tarrant is 32.

Sam Edmund also reports the futures of Shaun Atley, Trent Dumont and Tom Campbell remain unclear.

Crouch signs new deal with Adelaide

The Crows have confirmed star midfielder Matt Crouch will remain at the club after he signed a two-year contract extension .

Crouch, 26, didn't play a game in 2021 after a troublesome groin injury required surgery.

AFL.com.au reports Crouch signed the new deal at a reduced rate, having gained an idea of his value on the open market.

Crouch has played 125 matches with Adelaide and was named All Australian in 2017.

Friday, September 3

Star Swan Dawson firming to head home

Sydney utility Jordan Dawson is considering a move back to South Australia with either Adelaide or Port Adelaide.

The 24-year-old - who finished third in the Swans' best and fairest - is understood to be contemplating leaving Sydney for family reasons, not because of any salary issues.

Dawson excelled for the Bloods in 2021, playing in a variety of roles through the wing and half-forward regions.

Lipinksi to request trade to Victorian rival

The Herald Sun reports midfielder Patrick Lipinski has decided to leave the Western Bulldogs and will request a trade away from the club.

Lipinksi has played 56 games for the club but has fallen out of favour in the second half of 2021.

Carlton and Collingwood are the two clubs linked with the out-of-contract 23-year-old, though the Blues are also involved in the race for Fremantle's Adam Cerra.

Thursday, September 2

Crows make pitch to Shaun Burgoyne

Retired great Shaun Burgoyne has been fielding offers for post-career roles around the competition, with Adelaide reportedly making a strong play for the 407-gamer.

"He’s in-demand at a lot of places... he’s got a lot to offer. It comes down to what Adelaide is prepared to put on the table," journalist Michelangelo Rucci said on SEN .

"They’ve gone hard - they’ve gone very hard - even harder than Port Adelaide. I’m not sure how attractive the offer is.

"I can assure you Adelaide has gone very hard for Shaun Burgoyne."

Hawks make offer to Lachie Schultz

As first reported in The Age in July, Fremantle forward Lachie Schultz is attracting interest from Hawthorn.

AFL.com.au on Thursday reports Schultz has a three-year free agency offer in front of him from the Hawks, while the Dockers are understood to be keen on re-signing him.

Originally from Victoria, Schultz, 23, enjoyed his best season to date in 2021, playing every game and kicking 22 goals.

Tom Lynch undecided on future

Delisted Crows veteran Tom Lynch is still weighing up whether to try to earn a new playing contract at another club or jump into coaching.

"If a really good coaching opportunity popped up and that was the pathway forward for me as opposed to a year somewhere, that would give me something to think about for sure," Lynch said on SEN .

"A playing career might be the best option as well even if it is one year. We’ve got some decisions to make, me and my family, and we’ll see what plays out."

Lynch, who will be 31 by the start of next season, averaged 22 disposals and a goal per game over the final six matches of 2021 after a toe injury sidelined him for the middle part of the year.

Wednesday, September 1

Lipinski and Wallis still unsigned

Bulldogs pair Patrick Lipinski and Mitch Wallis look like departing the club this off-season in search of more playing time.

The club's footy manager Chris Grant discussed their situation on SEN .

"Both those boys, we're really keen to retain and they've been offered contracts and have had those for the majority of the year," Grant said.

"We totally understand that they want to get a bit of a feel for where they fit in the scheme of things with us.

"It's always frustrating... when you're not getting many looks in, but they've dealt with it well."

Tuesday, August 31

Swans star Luke Parker linked to two AFL clubs

Sydney and Luke Parker remain a huge distance apart in contract negotiations as other AFL clubs start to show interest.

The Swans have offered Parker a two-year deal at $500,000, with the midfielder wanting a four-year contract at $700,000 per season.

Gold Coast Suns have shown interest in the 28-year-old, while there has been rumours that St Kilda are keen also.

It's understood the Suns would be unlikely to be able to afford Parker's demands, while the Saints would likely have to shed the salaries of players such as Jack Billings and Seb Ross to be able to make a play.

Monday, August 30

St Kilda onballer's future still undecided

Two-time St Kilda best-and-fairest winner Seb Ross could be playing football elsewhere in 2022 with the midfielder yet to sign a new deal at Moorabbin.

The 28-year-old unrestricted free agent is currently uncontracted for 2022 but has been offered a two-year deal by the Saints with triggers for a third season.

Ross is believed be exploring his options on the market before deciding on whether to recommit to St Kilda.

The midfielder has played 160 games for the Saints since making his debut in 2012, winning the club's best-and-fairest award in 2017 and 2019.

Bulldogs midfielder could be on the move

Western Bulldogs could lose midfielder Patrick Lipinski, who could be on the move despite a new contract waiting for him at Whitten Oval.

The 23-year-old hasn't played for the senior team since round 20 and hasn't been picked as an emergency for Sunday's elimination final against Essendon.

Carlton and Collingwood have both shown interest in the out-of-contract midfielder, who has only played 11 games this season.

Despite Lipinski being on the fringe of the team, the Bulldogs have tabled a three-year deal for the no.28 pick in the 2016 AFL draft.

In his last VFL match, Lipinski had 36 possessions and kicked three goals.

Magpies interested in Demons forward Weideman

Collingwood is looking at out-of-favour Melbourne forward Sam Weideman in a bid to improve their tall forward stocks.

The 24-year-old has lost his place in the Demons team to star recruit Ben Brown and has only managed five games for the minor premiers this season.

Magpies football boss Graham Wright admitted they were considering making a play for Weideman, who's contract expires at the end of this campaign.

"He’s an out-of-contract player...you’re interested in anyone who’s out of contract that can help your football club," Wright told Sportsday .

"He’s a talented young forward.

"At the moment, he’s probably behind two or three that are performing well in a team at the top of the ladder.”

Weideman has struggled for consistency at the Demons since being selected with pick nine in the 2015 draft.

He has also reportedly attracted interest from Gold Coast and North Melbourne.

'No signs' of Brayden Maynard leaving Collingwood - Wright

Star defender Brayden Maynard will not be leaving Collingwood, according to the club's football boss Graham Wright.

The 24-year-old was linked with a shock move away from the Lexus Centre after it was reported he would not be signing a new contract until a new coach was appointed at the Magpies.

However, Wright dismissed speculation of Maynard's possible departure, with the hard-nosed half-back flanker linked with a move back to his native South Australia with Adelaide.

"Brayden and his management have shown no signs of him wanting to go anywhere," Wright told  Sportsday .

"I spoke to his manager a couple of days ago and there’s no sign of that.

"From our perspective, I think he’s really entrenched at the club, he’s a leader of the club, he’s contracted.

"You’ll always hear speculation about certain players along the way, and sometimes where there’s smoke there’s fire, but I don’t think there is in this case."

Swans cap squeeze leaving Luke Parker's future in doubt

Sydney's salary cap situation is leaving several players without a deal next year as the club attempts to juggle their books.

Luke Parker, Jordan Dawson, George Hewett, Sam Reid and Dylan Stephens are among those unsigned beyond this season.

Parker and Dawson are the priorities, but Sam Edmund reports it's not a completely straightforward situation.

"He can leave of his choosing. They're chasing a longer term deal, I'm told at around or above $700,000 a season," Edmund said on SEN .

"Other clubs have been approached to see if they are willing to part with the money to secure Luke Parker, either as leverage or as a genuine move."

Luke Dunstan set to leave Saints

Resurgent midfielder Luke Dunstan has reportedly not done enough to win a new contract for next season at St Kilda.

SEN reports the 26-year-old will depart Moorabbin at the end of the season as a delisted free agent.

Dunstan is originally from South Australia and was drafted with pick 18 in 2013 from Woodville-West Torrens.

Freo delist four players

Dockers quarter Brett Bewley, Taylin Duman, Stefan Giro and Tobe Watson have been informed they won't be offered contracts for next season.

Former 22nd pick Watson is perhaps the most surprising, having featured 11 times at AFL level this season.

"This is always a really difficult time of the year to have to make these decisions," Bell said.

"They are players of great character, and it will be sad to see them leave the club."

Adam Cerra wants out

Emerging Dockers midfielder confirmed the news his club had been fearing - he wishes to be traded to Victoria for family reasons.

The former number five pick has been courting interest from Carlton for much of the season and the Blues are considered as his likely destination.

Carlton currently holds the sixth pick in the draft, though it's unclear at this stage what Freo's asking price for the 21-year-old will be.

Swans non-committal on George Hewett

Sydney CEO Tom Harley denied off-contract midfielder George Hewett was out the door, but conceded neither side was making a commitment just yet.

"He hasn’t signed and he hasn’t committed to the Swans and the Swans (haven't committed) to George to be honest beyond this year," Harley told SEN .

“As far as anything being done, that would be news to me.

"We’ve got a list that is a good one, particularly with players 25-26 and under, but like all things, and particularly with free agency you have to respect that there’s a process that plays out.

"We’ll continue to negotiate with a number of players out of contract to give ourselves the best chance of having a strong list in 2022."

Scott Pendlebury clears the air over trade comments

Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury got tongues wagging when he seemed to suggest he'd consider an offer from another club if it helped further his coaching aspirations.

Pendlebury has however since taken to social media to clarify his comments, reaffirming his wish to remain at the Pies.
