AFL trade news 2019: Full list of trades for each club at conclusion of trade window image

There'll be a host of players looking for chances elsewhere, too, as the 23rd player at each club might be a better fit elsewhere. One thing's for certain, though - there's going to be a lot of action this off-season, as well as more than a few surprises.

Here's who's set to change clubs, and where they're looking to head.

THE BIG TRADE NEWS:

Daniher trade to Sydney falls over

The highly-anticipated trade of Joe Daniher from Essendon to Sydney has fallen over on deadline day.

Negotiations between the Swans and Bombers broke down late in the final day of the trade period, leaving Daniher stuck in the red and black for 2020.

Hill officially headed to St Kilda

Fremantle Dockers midfielder Brad Hill has officially been traded to St Kilda after the two clubs struck a deal on AFL trade deadline day.

The Dockers will receive a pick 10, a future second-round pick, a future fourth-round pick, pick No.58 and Blake Acres for the 26-year old.

After lengthy negotiations between the two clubs, Hill said he was glad a deal was finally agreed upon and is ready for a new challenge.

“I’m excited to join St Kilda and look forward to repaying the club’s faith in me,” he said.

“I’ll always be thankful to Fremantle for the opportunity, but I’m looking forward to returning to Melbourne with my partner and becoming a part of the Saints family.”

Darcy Cameron traded to Collingwood

Collingwood has acquired young ruckman Darcy Cameron from the Sydney Swans.

The Magpies struck a deal which sees them secure the 24-year-old as an understudy to All-Australian Brodie Grundy.

It will see the Magpies give up Pick 56 to the Swans but received Pick 62 in return along with the 205cm Western Australian.

Cameron played one game for Sydney since being drafted with the 46th pick in 2014.

“We have been keen for some time to add to our group of ruckmen and Darcy is someone we identified as a good fit for our squad,” Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said on the club's website.

“We like his marking ability and think that, apart from time spent on the ball, he can develop into a presence in front of the ball.  Darcy has the instincts of a natural footballer. I think he will give Nathan and the coaching group real flexibility.”

Ryder and Howard heading to St Kilda

Paddy Ryder and Dougal Howard are on their way from Port Adelaide to St Kilda in exchange for picks 12, 18 and a 2020 third-round pick.

St Kilda will also receive pick 10 and a future fourth-rounder.

Kangaroos complete three-for-one trade

The Roos traded out a single pick, 8 in 2019, and received three in return including 26, 50 and a future first round pick in 2020.

North now holds picks 26, 27, 45, 50, 73, 84 in this year's draft and looks to next year already with two first rounders in hand.

“We weighed up trading pick 8 with respect to this year’s talent pool and the evenness of the Draft, and we were comfortable moving back in the order," North national recruiting manager Mark Finnigan said.

Jon Patton's move to the Hawks confirmed

Late last week it was Hawthorn’s third-round pick in the upcoming AFL draft which would satisfy GWS as a fair trade for former No.1 pick.

Now, it's a fourth-round pick.

With 89 games to his name and a Rising Star nomination in 2014, an injury-free Patton is an exciting addition to the Hawks line-up.

Injury-free.

Patton has booted 130 goals across his 89 games and was the Giants leading goalkicker in 2017.

Eddie Betts returns to Carlton

Eddie Betts is going back to where it all began.

Betts will return to Princes Park on a one-year deal, where he played 184 games for the Blues before moving to Adelaide for the 2014 season.

In return, the Crows will get a fourth-round pick, while paying a small percentage of Betts’ 2020 salary.

Ed Langdon traded to the Demons

23-year-old Ed Langdon is on his way to the Demons from Fremantle.

The young midfielder played 68 games for the Dockers, kicking 33 goals.

In another complex trade involving a number of picks, the Demons recieve Langdon, pick 26 and a future fourth-rounder and the Dockers receive pick 22, pick 79 and a future second-round pick.

It is Melbourne's second bit of business today after they traded defender Sam Frost to Hawthorn.

They also picked up former GWS GIANT Adam Tomlinson

Sam Frost heads to Hawthorn

A second trade has finally gone down as Melbourne defender Sam Frost heads to Hawthorn.

The former GWS GIANTS player has played 70 games across five seasons at the Demons.

The Hawks traded pick 50 and a second-round pick in 2020 and in return received Frost, pick 42, pick 61 and a fourth-round pick in 2020.

Josh Mahoney, General Manager of Football Operations at Melbourne, thanked 26-year-old for his service and explained why the trade went down.

“We were not in the position to offer Sam a long-term contract," Mahoney said in a statement released to the club's website.

"So we were comfortable with him exploring his options and we’re pleased he has found a position at Hawthorn.

Graham Wright, Hawthorn General Manager, believes the 194cm back will be a key player for the club.

“Sam is a fierce competitor and has excellent speed and agility which allows him to play on tall and small opponents,” said Wright in a statement on Hawthorn's website.

“Sam will complement our defensive unit extremely well [and] e are excited to see what Sam can bring to the Hawks.

Grant Birchall moves north

Four-time premiership winner Grant Birchall will replace former teammate Luke Hodge at Brisbane after agreeing to a free agency move from Hawthorn, where he has managed just eight games over the last three injury-ravaged seasons.

Hawthorn will receive no compensation.

Kelly officially joins the West Coast Eagles

In the least surprising move of the trade period, Tim Kelly has officially left Geelong with the West Coast Eagles announcing the 25-year-old midfielder has joined on a reported six-year deal worth $5 million.

It was part of a mega-trade deal that saw the Cats receive a number of draft picks from the Eagles.

Adam Tomlinson leaves the Giants

The Melbourne Demons have announced the signing of Adam Tomlinson, after the former Giants utility requested a trade following the club's grand final loss to Richmond.

After playing 140 for the Giants, and debuting in the club's inaugural game in 2012, Tomlinson will move to the Demons in exchange for an end of second-round compensation pick, currently pick 40.

It's set to be a huge trade period this year, with names like Tim Kelly, Jack Steven, Shaun Higgins, Joe Daniher and more all floated as looking for a new home.

A few clubs will be looking to refresh their lists, as coaching changes a-plenty have taken place this season.
