Geelong small forward Lincoln McCarthy has decided his faltering career would be best continued in Brisbane.
The 24-year-old told the Cats on Friday that he would like to be traded to the Lions after 29 games in seven seasons for the club.
Injury has cruelled much of McCarthy's career to date, only playing more than four games in one season (19, 2016) since being taken with pick 66 in 2011 draft.
Geelong released a statement on Friday evening.

"Lincoln McCarthy met with the club today and advised that he would like to continue his career with the Brisbane Lions," the statement read.
"As such the club will meet with the Lions during trade period to explore a trade that is acceptable to both parties."
McCarthy is unlikely to command a trade of any great value, though Brisbane may give up enough for Geelong to hand off to Sydney in exchange for Gary Rohan.
According to afl.com.au, McCarthy met with Lions coach Chris Fagan recently and was sold on the club's medical staff.
He's also reportedly keen to join close friend Lachie Neale in Brisbane, with the Fremantle star thought to be considering a move to Brisbane.
