North Melbourne has secured both Jared Polec and Jasper Pittard.

Last month, Polec told the club that he intends to join North Melbourne in the upcoming player movement window.

On Wednesday, North successfully negotiated a trade with Port Adelaide, and sent pick No.11 and a future fourth-round selection to the Power in exchange for the pair.

North also acquire this year's pick No.48 from Port.

Polec reportedly had a big-money five-year deal on the table from the Roos, though a trade would still need to be worked out between the clubs.

The Power released a statement last month, declaring the parties had reached an impasse in negotiations and Polec would be leaving the club.

North also released a statement of their own, saying the 25-year-old has flagged his willingness to head to Arden St.

"Jared has indicated his intent to cross to us during the trade period, provided a deal can be reached with Port Adelaide," Kangaroos football manager Cameron Joyce told nmfc.com.au.

"If everything pans out, as we expect, we'd be delighted to have Jared as he will add some elite qualities to our team.

"We'll sit down with Port Adelaide in the coming weeks and hopefully agree to a mutually beneficial trade."

Polec is a South Australian but has been linked with a move to Victoria for much of the season, with St Kilda also understood to have made an offer for the former number five draft pick.

The 106-gamer was originally picked up by Brisbane but sought a trade back to Adelaide after three seasons and 16 senior games.

That move makes him ineligible for free agency, meaning North will have to stump up an agreeable trade, with Port rumoured to be keen on their first-round pick which is currently number 10.
