Sydney v Hawthorn: Callum Sinclair leaves field with concussion after faceplant image

A heavy faceplant saw Sydney ruckman Callum Sinclair groggily leave the SCG in the fourth quarter of the Swans' 82-63 win against Hawthorn on Friday night.

Diving for a mark, Sinclair slammed into the turf head-first and struggled to stand after the impact.

He sat back on the ground and was attended to by medicos before exiting the field.

The 29-year-old failed a concussion test, preventing him from returning.

Sinclair kicked the first goal of the final quarter before being knocked senseless.

It was a whirlwind few minutes for the big man who, along with co-captain Dane Rampe, committed the mother of all coach killers on the three-quarter time siren.

Sinclair and Rampe both pulled up as the siren blew, ignoring Jack Gunston's airborne snap which eventually bounced through for a goal to cut the margin to eight points.

Fortunately for the Swans, they were able to overcome the losses of Sinclair and superstar forward Lance Franklin to rally in the final term.

With Franklin on the bench nursing another hamstring injury, young forward Nick Blakey stepped up big time.

The first-year left-footer kicked two goals in the final term, including one after a big hanger, to help Sydney to the 19-point win.

That made it two home wins in a row for the Swans and improved their record to 5-8 for the season, the same as the Hawks.
