Melbourne Demons v Sydney Swans: Isaac Heeney soars for mark of the year contender image

We all know that Isaac Heeney can rise up there with the best of them, but this was ridiculous.

With the Sydney Swans holding on to claim a tense nine-point victory over the Melbourne Demons on Sunday, Heeney provided one of the moments of the match when he soared above his opposite number and almost stood straight on his shoulders.

Sydney had built a 20-point lead midway through the final term when the Demons went on the attack through Cameron Pedersen.

The Demons player sent the ball towards key forward Jesse Hogan who was being marked by the smaller Heeney.

Hogan made the early break in front of the Swans' player, but the ball was sailing over his head.

Heeney sensed his opportunity.

Watch the ridiculous mark in the video player below.

"HEENEY FLIES," Brian Taylor screamed on Fox Footy's coverage.

"He takes one of the marks of the year."

Hogan stands at 195 centimetres tall, making the below pictures even more impressive.

Astounded fans took to Twitter to voice their approval of Heeney's efforts, and many thought the Goal of the Year award should be given to the man straight away.

While the Swans prevailed and Heeney made the highlight reel, it was a sombre afternoon for the club from the Harbour City with defender Alex Johnson going down with a suspected sixth ACL injury.
