AFL injury list: The injuries ahead of round 17 image

Another round of AFL is in the books and another weekend of action lurks just around the corner.

We've got all the latest word on which of your club's players are due back soon and which ones are set for a spell on the sidelines.

This week, several Crows face fitness tests while the Swans lose a heap of experience.

ADELAIDE INJURIES

The Crows are hoping to have Eddie Betts (hamstring), Daniel Talia (ankle) and Cameron Ellis-Yolmen (quad) available for Thursday's must-win clash with Geelong. Richard Douglas was injured against Richmond and will miss two or three weeks. Several of the club's longer term injuries are hoping to return in the next few weeks, with Mitch McGovern, Andy Otten and even Brodie Smith nearing fitness. David Mackay is still around three weeks off with his rib problem.

BRISBANE INJURIES

Harris Andrews' recovery from a brutal concussion continues with an assessment from a neurosurgeon next week. The Lions are confident he'll be back out there this season. Matt Eagles' season is over after going in for surgery on a groin issue.

CARLTON INJURIES

The Blues will be sweating on the fitness of Kade Simpson, Jacob Weitering (both calf) and Caleb Marchbank (heart) ahead Friday's clash with St Kilda, while Andrew Phillips ' season is over following a hamstring injury. Sam Kerridge and Harrison Macreadie are hoping to return next week.

COLLINGWOOD INJURIES

Flynn Appleby hurt his hamstring against Essendon and will miss some football, while Will Hoskin-Elliott has been cleared of any major damage and could line up against West Coast. Jamie Elliott, Alex Fasolo, James Aish and Jarryd Blair could all play VFL this week. Ben Reid has had surgery and will miss about a month. The club are hopeful Adam Treloar and Tyson Goldsack will play again in 2018.


ESSENDON INJURIES

Jake Stringer hurt his calf against Collingwood and will be sidelined for around four weeks. Orazio Fantasia should be right to take on Gold Coast this week. David Zaharakis is around a month away while the club has gone quiet on Joe Daniher 's recovery from a groin injury.

FREMANTLE INJURIES

Andrew Brayshaw has been struck down with a groin injury and will miss three weeks. The Dockers are unlikely to get any help back this week ahead of their clash with Port Adelaide on Sunday. Aaron Sandilands and Matt Taberner are two to three weeks away, while Nat Fyfe is three to four weeks off.

GEELONG INJURIES

The Cats are waiting on the results from several fitness tests ahead of Thursday's clash with Adelaide. Harry Taylor, Nakia Cockatoo, Lincoln McCarthy, Cory Gregson and Mark O'Connor could all feature at senior or reserves level this week. Esava Ratugolea is still hopeful of featuring later in the season after his broken leg.

GOLD COAST INJURIES

The Suns NEAFL side should get a boost this week, with Pearce Hanley, Brayden Fiorini, Jack Bowes and Matt Rosa all a chance to play pending fitness tests. The rest of Gold Coast's injured players are still some way off or out for the season.

GWS INJURIES

GWS' injury crisis looks to be easing with Toby Greene, Brett Deledio and Daniel Lloyd all facing fitness tests ahead of the clash with Richmond. Midfielder Jacob Hopper will also come back into the side, while Harry Perryman will miss a fortnight with a hamstring injury. Jonathan Patton 's season is over after he did his ACL at training last week.


HAWTHORN INJURIES

Ruckman Ben McEvoy will miss six weeks after fracturing a cheekbone against Western Bulldogs. Marc Pittonet, Will Langford and James Cousins face fitness tests, though they may feature in the VFL. Shaun Burgoyne is still a fortnight off, while Grant Birchall is listed as a month away.

MELBOURNE INJURIES

Joel Smith injured his hip against Fremantle and will undergo a test this week. Jayden Hunt's ankle injury will keep him out for another month or so.

NORTH MELBOURNE INJURIES

Cameron Zurhaar broke his ankle on the weekend and will miss the rest of the season. Jarrad Waite is now listed as four weeks away with his troublesome calf. Declan Mountford is a chance to feature at either level next week. Mason Wood, Billy Hartung and Taylor Garner are still a fortnight to a month off.

PORT ADELAIDE INJURIES

Tom Jonas picked up a knee injury and will miss up to six weeks, while Sam Gray and Jasper Pittard are both in the mix to play against Fremantle on Sunday.

RICHMOND INJURIES

Nathan Broad (fractured cheekbone), Jack Graham (dislocated shoulder) and Dan Butler (ankle) all picked up injuries against Adelaide and are expected to miss around a month each. Defender Bachar Houli is due to come back from a groin injury against GWS on Saturday. Anthony Miles will need to pass concussion tests this week, though may play in the VFL. Reece Conca is on track to return before the finals.

ST KILDA INJURIES

Paddy McCartin picked up an ankle injury and will miss around a fortnight, though Jake Carlisle may recover from a punctured lung in time to face Carlton this weekend. Nathan Brown and Josh Battle should return in the next couple of weeks. 

SYDNEY INJURIES

Jarrad McVeigh will miss around five weeks following surgery on a broken collarbone. Sam Reid was injured as he built fitness in the reserves and will miss more than a month. Lewis Melican's season is over after a recurrence of his hamstring injury at training. Dan Hannebery will miss a month with a calf strain. Kieren Jack is also in doubt after a medial ligament strain against the Cats. It's not all bad though, with Isaac Heeney, Tom Papley and Gary Rohan fit enough to return.


WEST COAST INJURIES

The Eagles could get some help back ahead of this Sunday's blockbuster with Collingwood. Jack Darling, Josh Kennedy, Tom Barrass and Mark LeCras all face fitness tests this week.  Liam Ryan will sit out again for disciplinary reasons.

WESTERN BULLDOGS INJURIES

Clay Smith called time on his career after battling persistent knee injuries. Jack Macrae is likely to return from a hamstring injury against Melbourne this week. Aaron Naughton is in doubt with an ankle injury but should get through. The rest of the wounded Dogs are several weeks away, with  Tory Dickson, Matt Suckling, Bailey Williams, Lin Jong  and Jack Redpath  hoping to play within the next month.
