AFL injury list: The injuries ahead of round 14 image

Another round of AFL is in the books and another weekend of action lurks just around the corner.

We've got all the latest word on which of your club's players are due back soon and which ones are set for a spell on the sidelines.

This week, there's more bad news for the Crows, North get some big guns back while West Coast sweat on some key position stars.

ADELAIDE INJURIES

Eddie Betts is the latest Crow to be struck down with a hamstring injury that will see him miss around four weeks. Adelaide need some relief and they are due to get it after the bye with Rory Sloane, Rory Laird, Tom Lynch, Luke Brown and Riley Knight all in the mix to play West Coast in round 15. Mitch McGovern and Paul Hunter are still more than a month away. Young ruckman Reilly O'Brien has had shoulder surgery which will sideline him for the rest of the year.


 

BRISBANE INJURIES

Matt Eagles, Cedric Cox and Connor Ballenden are a chance to feature at either level this week, while Sam Skinner may make his long-awaited return in the NEAFL. Mitch Robinson is a week or two away with his broken toe. Rohan Bewick and Tom Bell are expected to miss another fortnight at least.

CARLTON INJURIES

Defender Alex Silvagni has been ruled out for the season after rupturing his Achilles. Caleb Marchbank looks set to miss Sunday's clash with Collingwood, while Harry McKay should be fit after his illness. Captain Marc Murphy is still a week or two away with his foot injury. 

COLLINGWOOD INJURIES

Ben Reid (leg), Jamie Elliott , Darcy Moore , Travis Varcoe and Josh Smith (all hamstring) won't play against Carlton but could be in the mix in round 15. Alex Fasolo and James Aish are more than a month away while Daniel Wells may not play again this season after having surgery on his foot.

ESSENDON INJURIES

Dyson Heppell will be right to go against the Eagles after overcoming concussion, while Patrick Ambrose is a chance to feature at either level.  Joe Daniher, Darcy Parish, David Zaharakis and Marty Gleeson  are not expected to feature for at least a month

FREMANTLE INJURIES

The week off should give the Dockers time to nurse Bradley Hill back to fitness. Alex Pearce and Brady Grey are nearing a return. Harley Bennell's comeback date is less certain.

GEELONG INJURIES

With the bye this week, the Cats should be able to welcome back Daniel Menzel, Stewart Crameri, Nakia Cockatoo and Zac Smith in round 15, though the VFL may host some if not all of them. Harry Taylor, Scott Selwood and Cam Guthrie all played in the twos and should be good to against the Dogs. Lincoln McCarthy will miss several weeks with a hamstring injury.

GOLD COAST INJURIES

Kade Kolodjashnij and Jesse Lonergan may return this week, though possibly in the VFL. The rest of the Suns long injury list is still several weeks away. Matt Rosa, Michael Barlow, Steven May, Pearce Hanley, Brayden Fiorini and Jack Bowes should return in the next month.

GWS INJURIES

Rory Lobb has suffered a fracture to his back and will miss at least four weeks. Daniel Lloyd will be sidelined for a month with a knee injury. Backman Tim Mohr is a chance to take on Brisbane this week. Toby Greene is hopeful of returning in the next month, while Tom Scully and Brett Deledio are progressing from their long-term injuries.

HAWTHORN INJURIES

James Frawley should be right to face Gold Coast on Saturday. Grant Birchall continues on the comeback trail from his long-term knee injury while Cyril Rioli is out indefinitely as he has headed home to the NT for personal reasons.


 

MELBOURNE INJURIES

Conor Maynard has been ruled out for the season following hip surgery. Dean Kent may make a return from his hamstring injury in the VFL while Aaron vandenBerg is ramping up his training after a long-term foot injury.

NORTH MELBOURNE INJURIES

Jack Ziebell and Jed Anderson will be right to face to face the Dogs. Taylor Garner suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury and is now some way off playing. Veteran forward Jarrad Waite will miss Saturday night's clash with the Bulldogs after he re-injured his calf at training.


 

PORT ADELAIDE INJURIES

Tom Jonas and  Darcy Byrne-Jones are both expected to be fit to take on the Dees on Friday night. Trent McKenzie and Matthew Broadbent are a fortnight or so away.

RICHMOND INJURIES

The Tigers have the week off and should welcome back David Astbury against Sydney. Dion Prestia may also be fit but could feature in the VFL first, while Bachar Houli is touch and go for the Swans match.

ST KILDA INJURIES

The bye should give time for Blake Acres, Jarryn Geary and Darren Minchington to overcome their injuries in time to face Melbourne in round 15. Bailey Rice was concussed against Gold Coast but shouldn't miss any footy while Jimmy Webster will miss two to three weeks with a groin injury.

SYDNEY INJURIES

Sam Reid and Lewis Melican are in the mix following the round 14 bye but may be eased back in after more than a month out each.

WEST COAST INJURIES

Josh Kennedy was ruled out of Thursday night's clash with Essendon after it was revealed he suffered a hairline fracture to his right leg in West Coast's loss to the Swans. The Eagles are also sweating on the fitness of Tom Barrass (back). Jack Darling is at least two weeks away at this stage, while Daniel Venables should return in the WAFL this week.


 

WESTERN BULLDOGS INJURIES

Marcus Bontempelli, Toby McLeanTom Boyd, Matt Suckling and Aaron Naughton are a chance to feature against North Melbourne and ease the Dogs' mammoth injury list. Clay Smith, Tim English, Bailey Dale, Tory Dickson and Jack Redpath are expected to return over the next month or so, in that order.
