AFL injury list: The injuries ahead of round 12 image

Another round of AFL is in the books and another weekend of action lurks just around the corner.

We've got all the latest word on which of your club's players are due back soon and which ones are set for a spell on the sidelines.

This week, one current and two former Crows will miss the rest of the season, while some Cats are on the comeback trail.

ADELAIDE INJURIES

Important midfielder Brad Crouch had surgery on his groin on Monday and will miss the rest of the season. Rebounding backman Rory Laird has fractured his hand and is in doubt for the clash with Freo on Sunday, as is Tom Lynch with a side strain, though they are a chance to welcome Richard Douglas back. The Crows may get a boost with Rory Sloane, Taylor Walker and Riley Knight potentially available the following week. Mitch McGovern is still around six weeks away.

BRISBANE INJURIES

Charlie Cameron suffered a torn Lisfranc ligament in the loss to North Melbourne and has been ruled out for the season in a cruel blow to the 1-10 Lions. Mitch Robinson suffered a broken toe and will be out for around three weeks. Allen Christensen was concussed against the Roos and is a doubt to take on Essendon on Sunday. Hugh McCluggage also faces a test on his calf, as does Jarrod Berry on his hamstring issue. Matt Eagles and Cedric Cox are around a fortnight away, while Rohan Bewick is still a month or so away.


CARLTON INJURIES

The Blues have the bye this week but are set to welcome key forward Levi Casboult back against Fremantle the following week. He could be joined by Matt Kennedy and Jarrod Pickett . Backmen Alex Silvagni and Caleb Marchbank are also in the frame for a return following the bye. Captain Marc Murphy is eyeing off a return in around a month or so from his foot injury.

COLLINGWOOD INJURIES

The Pies are set to have Jeremy Howe available for the Queen's Birthday clash on Monday, though Ben Reid and Travis Varcoe may miss out. The club haven't got an update on Jamie Elliott, Darcy Moore and Josh Smith who are all nursing hamstring injuries. Alex Fasolo and James Aish are still more than six weeks away.

ESSENDON INJURIES

David Zaharakis injured shoulder against the Tigers and will be sidelined for at least six weeks. Joe Daniher, Marty Gleeson and Patrick Ambrose will be aiming for after the round 13 bye.

FREMANTLE INJURIES

Harley Bennell, Hugh Dixon, Sean Darcy and Alex Pearce face a test to be fit for either grade this weekend. Bradley Hill may be fit next week but might be given the extra week off in the round 14 bye to recover. The return dates for Stephen Hill and Lee Spurr are less certain.

GEELONG INJURIES

Scott Selwood and Harry Taylor are both a chance to play against North Melbourne on Saturday. Nakia Cockatoo, Lachie Henderson, Daniel Menzel and Cam Guthrie will all be eyeing off a return following the Cats' round 13 bye.

GOLD COAST INJURIES

Suns skipper Steven May injured his ankle against Geelong and is expected to miss four to six weeks. The news is even worse for Aaron Hall who injured his pec and can expect to miss around three months. Kade Kolodjashnij will be out indefinitely with concussion symptoms, while Jesse Lonergan picked up a minor hamstring injury in the NEAFL. Aaron Young 's ankle knock is unlikely to keep him out against the Giants this Saturday. 

GWS INJURIES

After snapping the losing streak, the Giants are set to get a further boost with Matt de Boer and Adam Kennedy available for Saturday's clash with Gold Coast, though the latter may come back through the NEAFL after a long break with an ACL injury. Midfielder Stephen Coniglio will need to pass concussion protocol this week, while Tim Mohr needs to overcome a shoulder injury. Toby Greene, Tom Scully, Brett Deledio and Zac Williams are all targeting a return in the second half of the year.

HAWTHORN INJURIES

The Hawks have the bye which gives Cyril Rioli an extra week in a bid to make a comeback for Shaun Burgoyne's 350th against Adelaide in round 13. Grant Birchall is around a month away as he continues his long recovery from a knee injury.

MELBOURNE INJURIES

Former Crows backman Jake Lever will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his torn ACL. Jake Melksham will face a test on his ankle before the Queen's Birthday clash with Essendon, as will Cam Pedersen after concussion. Dean Kent and Aaron vandenBerg should both be playing after the round 14 bye.


 

NORTH MELBOURNE INJURIES

Jarrad Waite is a chance to feature against Geelong on Saturday after being a late withdrawal from the win over Brisbane, while Jed Anderson 's hamstring will also be assessed after he failed to finish the match against the Lions.

PORT ADELAIDE INJURIES

Joe AtleyAidyn Johnson, Todd Marshall all face fitness tests this week but are more likely to play in the SANFL than against Richmond on Friday night. Trent McKenzie is around a month away with his quad issue

RICHMOND INJURIES

Jason Castagna is a chance to feature against Port Adelaide on Friday if he can overcome his knee issue. Dion Prestia (calf) and Bachar Houli (groin) will likely return after the round 14 bye. Mabior Chol will be out for two months after breaking his footy at training.

ST KILDA INJURIES

The Saints take on the Swans this week and may be able to call on Luke Dunstan and Josh Bruce who face tests. Jake Carlisle, Nathan Brown and even Nathan Freeman should all be right to go after the round 13 bye if not sooner, while Jarryn Geary (calf), Blake Acres (groin) and Sam Gilbert (thumb) are slightly further away.

SYDNEY INJURIES

Tom Papley is expected to face St Kilda after being managed last week. Matt Ling will undergo surgery on a toe injury and will be ruled out for the season. Alex Johnson got through his NEAFL return, while Jordan Dawson will play this week. Sam Reid and Lewis Melican are hoping to return after the round 14 bye.

WEST COAST INJURIES

In-form forward Jack Darling will be sidelined for the next month with an ankle injury suffered in the win over St Kilda. With the bye this week, Liam Ryan and Will Schofield will be touch and go to face the Swans in round 13, with Chris Masten and Eric Mackenzie not far behind them.


WESTERN BULLDOGS INJURIES

Tory Dickson injured his hamstring against the Dees and will six weeks of football. Zaine Cordy is set to face Port Adelaide after the bye as he overcomes concussion. The rest of the wounded Dogs are slowly nearing a comeback: Clay Smith (two weeks), Tim English (3-4 weeks), Bailey Dale (4-5 weeks), Jack Redpath (6-8 weeks).
