AFL grand final: Fans not sure about Tones and I in pre-game entertainment image

The AFL went with an All Aussie line up of artists as the pre-match entertainment for this year's grand final and it was met with a mixed reception.

John Williamson kicked things off with a rendition of Waltzing Matilda before breakout star Tones and I performed her song 'The Kids Are Coming' and 'Dance Monkey'.

The alternative-pop stylings of the former Byron Bay busker didn't exactly capture the MCG crowd and viewers at home.

With some even comparing her unfavourably to the 2011 disaster performance of Meat Loaf.

Next cab off the rank was Dean Lewis, who belted out his hits 'Be Alright' and 'Waves', though it must be said they're not exactly tunes that get one in the mood for the biggest game of the season.

Fortunately, legendary singer-songwriter Paul Kelly rounded things off, performing his classics 'Leaps and Bounds' and 'Dumb Things'.

Kelly's efforts were met with a significantly warmer reception.

If Kelly got the crowd in the mood, Mike Brady had them absolutely frothing when he performed the ultimate footy song, Up There Cazaly.
