The West Coast Eagles have pulled ahead at the death and won the 2018 AFL grand final, courtesy of an incredibly clutch series of play.

With 2:39 left on the clock and the Pies clinging to a two-point lead, a counter attack and sweep down the Eagles’ right flank has ensured the premiership is heading west in 2018.

It began with Jeremy McGovern flying high to take a mark just inside his own 50. He played on immediately, hitting Nathan Vardy on the chest with a low kick.

Then Liam Ryan flew high – a highlight reel on its own – and, with time running out, kicked long to Dom Sheed.

Was Brayden Maynard blocked? Umpire says no.

Taken by Sheed!

Well inside the 50. Did he play on? No!

Breathe.

Less than two minutes on the clock.

An angle that’s almost arrogant to even contemplate.

Take it from here, video…
