AFL Grand Final: Collingwood Magpies banner falls apart image

Some members of the Collingwood cheer squad were reduced to tears after their banner fell apart before the players ran through it ahead of Saturday's grand final at the MCG.

By the time the Magpies players got out to run through the banner, all that was left was the tattered frame.

Check out the video below.

Pies fans will be hoping it's not a sign of things to come.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley was all class in getting out to some of the distraught members of the cheer squad and offering a comforting word.

If the cheer squad were worried about the affect it would have on the team, their fears were allayed when their side kicked the first five goals of the match.

Travis Varcoe kicked the first after five minutes before Rising Star winner Jaidyn Stephensen kicked two in quick succession.

Willie Rioli and Josh Kennedy kicked goals late in the quarter to bring the Magpies' lead back to 17 points at the first break.
