AFL Coleman Medal leaderboard: Goalless Lance Franklin cedes ground to Ben Brown image

Last Saturday was just one of those days for the Swans and Lance Franklin, as the Suns took down the easy home favourites in round 18.

As Sydney went down by 24 points, Franklin went goalless for the first time this season - and the first time since Sydney's semi-final loss to Geelong last year.

Buddy's day off meant North Melbourne sharp-shooter Ben Brown had a chance to stretch his legs at the top - which he did, albeit with two goals against Collingwood in his side's disappointing loss.

The big mover was Luke Breust, who jumped to third after nailing five majors in Hawthorn's massive win over Carlton.

Tom Hawkins kicked seven in Geelong's last-gasp win over Melbourne to bolt to fifth, with Tom McDonald kicking four on the losing side.

Jack Riewoldt also sent four through the big sticks to jump up the rankings as reigning premiers Richmond swept aside St Kilda in the first game of the round.

Franklin - who was the only player in the top 10 in the Coleman race not to score a goal in round 18 - will get an opportunity to jump back on the scorers' list when Sydney travel to Etihad Stadium to play Essendon on Friday night.

Brown will face a tougher assignment against the red-hot Eagles in Hobart on Sunday.
