AFL 2021: Bulldogs prodigy Jamarra Ugle-Hagan struck down by injury image

Western Bulldogs' no.1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has suffered a dislocated thumb during a Footscray VFL match on Saturday afternoon.

Ugle-Hagan was pictured on partner Mia Fevola's Instagram with a bandaged thumb in a hospital room, before posting his own photo seemingly in good spirits shortly after.

The 18-year-old was forced from the field with the injury during second quarter of the practice match against Essendon's VFL side before receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.

Ugle-Hagan had already kicked two goals before his match prematurely ended as Footscray went on to record a huge 59-point win over the Bombers.

The Western Bulldogs are yet to confirm the extent of the injury to Ugle-Hagan with the outlook to become clearer in the coming days.

Ugle-Hagan is yet play any minutes for the Bulldogs across two practice matches and the first two AFL games of the season, as coach Luke Beveridge prefers to take a cautious approach with the prized talent.

With the Bulldogs featuring Aaron Naughton, Josh Bruce and Tim English as tall forward options, Beveridge has decided to ease Ugle-Hagan into senior football by working on facets of his game while playing for Footscray.

Ugle-Hagan has been super impressive in his hitouts for Footscray so far, kicking five goals before three-quarter time in a dominant performance last weekend.
