AFL 2020: North Melbourne's Majak Daw set to make long-awaited return from injury against Adelaide image

North Melbourne defender Majak Daw is set to his long-awaited return to the AFL against Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.

The Kangaroos made the announcement that his 706-day wait will end on Saturday, with captain Jack Ziebell revealing the news to the rest of the team at training on Wednesday.

“Today I’m fortunate enough to present this to everyone,” he said in a video posted to the Knagroos social media.

“One of our own has been through a pretty substantial period in his life, no doubt.

“But we’ve all been apart of the journey. It’s been 706 days since he’s played AFL football

“We’ve seen his journey, how much he’s worked to get back to this point.

"It’s been an incredible journey, and this feat that he’s going to achieve this weekend is going to be one of the great stories in AFL footy."

Daw has not played since 2018, ruled out for the majority of the 2019 season as he recovered from serious injuries to his hips and pelvis suffered in a fall from Melbourne's Bolte Bridge.

He would eventually return via the VFL, featuring in four games before a hamstring injury ended his campaign.

The 29-year-old has been recovering after suffering a partial tear to his pectoral muscle in May

"Maj was doing his weights program and felt a sharp pain on his right side during a chest exercise," Kangaroos footy manager Brady Rawlings said at the time.

"He was sent for scans and the imaging showed a tear.

"Majak has had an unfortunate run with injury of late but we will support him and ensure he can recover well, and hopefully build up to playing games again this year."
