Wallabies and Queensland Reds great Toutai Kefu is in serious condition after being stabbed in an armed robbery in his Brisbane home on Monday morning.
Kefu was woken when three men attempted to break into his Coorparoo home shortly after 3:00am (AEST).
Channel 7 reports Kefu and his family confronted the robbers and a brawl ensued that saw the rugby union great knifed in the stomach and his wife and two children also injured.
The entire family were taken to Princess Alexandria Hospital, with Kefu understood to be fighting for life as he undergoes surgery to his stomach.

One male was restrained on the scene by neighbours, while the other two fled the scene in a car, Queensland police confirmed.
"Police have two males in custody following a burglary and wounding in Coorparoo this morning," a police statement read.
"Police were called to Buena Vista Avenue at around 3 am in relation to an incident.
"Early information suggests a number of males were disturbed breaking into a dwelling there and a violent altercation left four members of the house injured.
"One male was restrained and taken into custody at the scene.
"Further offenders fled in a car toward Woolloongabba.
"The four injured residents were transported to the Princess Alexander Hospital for treatment. A man in his 40’s has serious injuries.
"Investigators urge witnesses to contact police."

Kefu was capped 60 times for the Wallabies, and was part of the World Cup-winning side in 1999, while he also made 103 appearances for the Queensland Reds. He is currently the coach of the Tongan national team.
