Stephen Dank: Disgraced sports scientist charged by NT police over further supplement injections image

Infamous sports scientist Stephen Dank, who played a big part in the Cronulla Sharks' and Essendon Bombers' supplement scandals, has been charged by police in the Northern Territory.

It's reported by NT News that Dank is up for charges relating to fraud offences and recklessly endangering serious harm and causing serious harm.

The charges relate to his time employed by a Darwin-based anti-ageing clinic in 2017.

Dank was at the centre of the scandals that took hold of both Cronulla and Essendon in 2011 and 2012 respectively, when it was discovered multiple players had been injected with banned substance Thymosin beta-4.

The initial findings from Dank's controversial supplement program caused 34 Bombers players to be banned.

With players who were subsequently banned for the scandal reportedly planning further action, these latest charges laid on Dank could have major ramifications.

The AFL anti-doping tribunal banned Dank for life in 2015, after he breached 10 counts of the league's anti-doping code.

More to come...
