Manly youngster Reuben Garrick admits even he was surprised by his breakout 2019 season that saw him brought into representative circles.
A promising Dragons junior playing centre, Garrick was snatched up by the Sea Eagles ahead of last season, and went on to become a mainstay of Des Hasler's side on the right wing.
The 22-year-old notched up 16 tries and played in every game for the Sea Eagles, whilst also taking on the kicking duties and converting 65 goals.
Though he was always recognised as a future talent during his junior years at St. George Illawarra, Garrick didn't expect to be so dominant in his maiden season in first grade.

"It would be crazy to say I didn't surprise myself [last year]," Garrick admitted.
"I've always had confidence in my own ability and known what I can do, but having confidence in yourself never always applies to a real game scenario.
"I definitely surprised myself but I always knew I would be an asset to the side."
Not only did Garrick get a taste of finals footy, helping take the Sea Eagles to a semi-final, the Gerringong Lions junior was also brought into the representative arena.
Garrick was also rewarded for his stunning first season with selection in the PM's XVII and Kangaroos Nines side, and was then named in Brad Fittler's 64-man NSW Blues training camp squad.
The Manly youngster said the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the game's best over the off-season had him hungry to continue his stunning rise this coming season.

"It's [State of Origin] a goal of any New South Welshman if you're playing footy," Garrick said.
"It's the pinnacle of the sport and just to be included in that squad I was really grateful for it
"It was good to even have time to chat with Freddy and the rest of the guys there it was really special.
"I didn't take any of it for granted but took a lot from it and hopefully I can apply some of that to my footy this year.
"It was good to just meet a lot of guys and rub shoulders with them and pick a couple of their brains."
