When is Mackinnon Stakes Day 2021?
This year's Mackinnon Stakes Day meet will take place on Saturday, November 6.
In 2016, the Victoria Racing Club moved the racing event to the last day of the Melbourne Carnival.
The race day started in 1869 with the name Melbourne Stakes Day.
The name was changed to the Mackinnon Stakes in 1937 in tribute to former VRC chairman Lauchlan Mackinnon.
Where is Mackinnon Stakes Day held?
Mackinnon Stakes Day is held at Flemington Racecourse, which is about 6km northwest of Melbourne's CBD.
Flemington opened in 1840 and now features a six furlong or 1200m straight, known as 'the Straight Six'. Its home straight is 450m long and races are run anti-clockwise.
What time is the Mackinnon Stakes race?
The main race of the day - the Group 1 $2 million Mackinnon Stakes - will start at 5.10pm (AEDT).
How to watch Mackinnon Stakes 2021 races?
10 Network will broadcast all major racedays across the Melbourne Cup carnival, including Mackinnon Stakes.
Channel 7 - which had broadcast the race for a number of years - will still broadcast Victorian race meets during 2020 and 2021, except the Melbourne Cup carnival.
What are the conditions and prize money for the Mackinnon Stakes?
The Mackinnon Stakes will be run over 2000m.
The winner of the race will receive a purse of $2 million.
There is also a Darley Sprint Classic which is a 1200m race with $2 million in prize money.
Zaaki wins the Mackinnon Stakes
Zaaki has bounced back from the disappointment of a last-minute Cox Plate scratching with a dominant win in the Mackinnon Stakes on the final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
It capped off a brilliant week for star jockey James McDonald, who broke Brett Prebble's record of nine wins across the week, picking up his 10th for the week aboard Zaaki.
Cascadian finished a length second while Mo'unga was a further two lengths back in third.
Check out the finish below.

Fittingly, Prebble, who rode nine winners over Cup week in 1999 and 2000, was there to congratulate McDonald, having piloted Cascadian to second.
The performance of Zaaki will leave connections ruing the bad luck which saw the horse scratched from the Cox Plate with an elevated temperature on the morning of the race.
Drawn two in from the outside, McDonald took Zaaki to the lead and was never put under any real pressure from Homesman.
When Zaaki was asked to go off the bend, the gelding responded brilliantly, lengthening well to extend his lead.
Cascadian closed strongly but the race was well and truly over by then.
