The Gold Coast Suns have extended the contract of Brayden Fiorini who has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2023 AFL season.

The young gun has played 47 games and is entering his fifth season in the AFL after being selected by the Suns with the 20th pick in the 2015 AFL draft.

In making his decision, Fiorini said that a major influence was that the Gold Coast felt like home.

Having established himself in Queensland, the 22-year-old was excited to commit his future to the Gold Coast.

“We’ve been here for five years now and me and my partner Molly really feel like the Gold Coast is home,” Fiorini said.

“We’ve got a group, that are all committed to the club’s future as we’ve seen over the last 12 months”

“Everyone is really hungry and driven to improve and I can’t wait to help drive that in the next few years.”

General Manager Football Operations Jon Haines said Fiorini's commitment was another sign of the culture the club had managed to develop for its young group over recent seasons.

“Brayden is highly respected amongst the playing and coaching group and we’re thrilled that he, along with almost 30 of the core playing group have committed their future to the Gold Coast SUNS,” Haines said.

It's a further boost for the AFL's youngest franchise, who were impressive during the pre-season, winning each of their Marsh Community Series games against Geelong and Adelaide.

Having lost the likes of star players Tom Lynch, Stephen May and Jack Martin in recent years, the Suns have also secured the futures of rising stars Jack Lukosious, Izak Rankine as well as co-captains Jarrod Witts and David Swallow over the past 12 months.
