Collingwood v GWS: Fight erupts at the MCG following dramatic preliminary final image

A massive fan brawl erupted on one of the concourses at the MCG during Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney's dramatic preliminary final on Saturday.

Police, security and stadium staff could be seen rushing in to contain the fight, that appeared to only consist of a small handful of footy fans.

Of those involved, a man wearing Collingwood merchandise is seen to put up a fight with police and security.

Screams could be heard in the background, along with crowd noise, suggesting the brawl ocurred during the game.

Emotions were boiling over in the final term of the dramatic final, with Collingwood parking themselves inside GWS' 50 with the game hanging by a thread.

The brawl allegedly began after a man threw a drink at security.

Victoria Police said in a statement a 24-year-old man threw a drink at a security guard as six men were being evicted due to intoxication.

The 24-year-old was arrested, while three other men were sprayed with capsicum spray when they didn't leave the area.

They all received penalty notices for riotous behaviour.

One of the men who was hit with capsicum spray was subsequently arrested for public drunkenness.

A police investigation is ongoing.
