The Canberra Raiders have signed former junior Matt Frawley on a one-year development deal.

Frawley played 31 NRL games for the Bulldogs between 2015 and 2018, before moving to the Super League with Huddersfield for the 2019 season.

A no-frills style halfback, Frawley will provide ample support for new import George Williams and Jack Wighton, who are expected to be Ricky Stuart's halves pairing next year.

Frawley returns to the Green Machine having played his junior football for the club, before making the move to the Bulldogs.

He says he's eager to put his head down this pre-season in the nation's capital and prove his worth at NRL level.

“It’s great to be back home and I guess you can say I’ve come full circle since playing my junior footy here,” Frawley told the club's website.

“I’m looking forward to having the chance to train really hard this pre-season and hopefully get an opportunity to get back into the NRL.”

Frawley joins fellow development players Darby Medlyn, Andrew Niko, Jarrett Subloo and Kai O'Donnell in the full-time Raiders squad.

Frawley's signing comes off the back of last year's grand finalists acquiring the services of star centre Curtis Scott from the Melbourne Storm for the next four years

Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed Ata Hingano has been granted a release in order for the Tongan international to explore opportunities elsewhere.
