AFL finals are here and the fixtures for a thrilling opening week have been locked in after a decisive final round of the home and away season.

The Demons locked in top spot and claimed their first minor premiership in 57 years with Saturday's jaw-dropping late comeback win over Geelong.

Melbourne will face Brisbane to start their finals campaign on Saturday, after Chris Fagan's side snuck into the top four on percentage with their win over West Coast.

But the finals series will start with Friday's clash between heavyweights the Cats and Power for a chance to move straight into the preliminary finals.

A Sydney derby will kick off Saturday between the high-flying Swans and fast-finishing Giants before the opening week of the finals round out with a clash between the Western Bulldogs and Essendon.
