AFLW star Tayla Harris has claimed the Australian Middleweight Title over Margarite Mutcher after scoring a second-round knockout at Melbourne Pavilion.

The fight was booked to go eight rounds, however the iconic footy star got the job done in two, hitting Butcher will a number of counter punches to knock her out.

Butcher, a Muay Thai fighter fighting in only her third professional bout, was fighting Harris for the third time for three losses.

She was allowed a standing count, following which she hit Harris with a few strong punches herself.

However, Harris' elite speed and agility proved too much for Butcher, as she dropped her opponent soon after, thereby forcing the referee to call an end to the fight.

The 22-year-old Carlton star now finds herself on a two-knockout streak as she rapidly rises up the world rankings.

Harris' record now stands at six wins, zero losses and a draw in her boxing career thus far, with the Australian Female Middleweight title now in her grasp.

She has been outspoken about her ambitions to take her boxing talents to the international stage, and told GQ before the fight against Butcher she was intent on making a statement in the fight.

"I’ve been working a lot on power and trying to make a statement in boxing in Australia," Harris told GQ.

"Obviously, I’ve got ambitions to fight around the world, so I’ll try my best to make a statement and whether that means a knockout or just a really clinical fight, that’s what I’ll aim to do."

With her acceleration in the boxing world, Harris continues to show why she is fast becoming one of the most recognised sportswoman in the country.

Her iconic kicking style was the subject widespread online abuse earlier in the year, and she has since had a it immortalised with a statue at Melbourne's Federation Square.
