AFL coronavirus: Fremantle players embroiled in social-distancing controversy image

Western Australian police have reportedly cleared the three Fremantle players who were alleged to have flouted social-distancing laws over the weekend by attending a house party.

Luke Ryan, Jason Carter and Michael Frederick were being investigated for breaking social-distancing laws after footage of the trio at a social gathering emerged on Wednesday.

A video captured by a woman at the alleged gathering and shared on Instagram showed the drinking and partying alongside as many as four other women in a room.

The footage was allegedly captured on Sunday evening before the state's restrictions on social gathering were lifted from two people to ten people.

However, according to the Herald Sun WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has confirmed the investigation into the three Dockers players has been dropped.

Mr. Dawson had reportedly contacted Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick to inform him of the news on Thursday.

It comes after NRL players Latrell Mitchell, Josh Addo-Carr, Nathan Cleary and Tyrone Roberts-Davis were sanctioned by the NRL for also breaching social-distancing laws in New South Wales.

Mitchell and Addo-Carr were issued with $20,000 fines (60% of $50,0000 suspended) and a suspended one-game ban, after videos shared via the latter's Instagram showed the pair, alongside Roberts-Davis, camping on Mitchell Taree farm with seven other people.

Meanwhile, an image of Cleary surrounded by five other female friends on ANZAC Day was leaked on Tuesday, with the NSW Blues and Panthers star slapped with a $4000 fine (60% of $10,000 suspended) and a suspended one-match ban.

North Melbourne AFL players Cameron Zurhaar and Nick Larkey escaped punishment last month when they were caught hosting a house party.
