Maroon 5 will provide the Super Bowl 53 halftime entertainment next month, the NFL announced on Monday.

The band will be joined by rapper Travis Scott and Atlanta native Big Boi for the halftime show sponsored by Pepsi.

The choice of Maroon 5 for the 2019 Super Bowl leaves opens a wide range of options. The band likely will perform renditions of its older pop-rock hits such as "This Love" and "Moves Like Jagger," but recent collaborations with Cardi B and Kendrick Lamar mean the rappers could make a surprise appearance.

Maroon 5's song with Cardi B, “I Like It,” was one of the biggest hits of 2018 and “Don’t Wanna Know” with Lamar also was a huge hit.

The halftime show likely will fall in line with past artists who have taken the stage, like Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Coldplay, all of whom had a variety of acts and singers join them.

Super Bowl 53 is scheduled to take place on February 4 at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
