And now, the moment you've been waiting for: Our 2018 fantasy football rankings for kickers! You aren't going to want to miss this opportunity to add a boatload of quality options to your draft cheat sheet. There are tons of sleepers this year, so be sure that you're ready to go with the bold new draft strategy -- taking a kicker in the first round!
Sarcasm aside, kickers are the bane of existence for most fantasy football players. Nothing is more frustrating than your team taking a 14-point lead into the Monday night game and seeing your opponent’s kicker nail five field goals to take home the victory. While kickers do add to the fun of fantasy football, their results are the most difficult to predict and are often random.
Don’t overthink this position, and don’t think you’re smarter than everyone else and will get a massive advantage by taking Justin Tucker in the 10th round. That's how you lose an advantage and get justifiably ridiculed by your leaguemates.
MORE RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST
Last season, many of the best kickers could be found on the waiver wire. Jake Elliott and Harrison Butker weren’t even on active rosters to start the season. Just be patient, wait until the final round, and grab a kicker from whatever offense you think is going to be good.
And don’t try to figure out which offenses are going to "stall at the 30-yard-line" and get more field goals than touchdowns. If you're not going to pick a proven, high-quality kicker, then picking a guy from a great offense ensures that you will get plenty of chances for extra points. When that team fails to get a touchdown, you often get a field-goal attempt.
If you want a pro tip on how to hate kickers a bit less, draft the kicker that plays for the same team as your quarterback. That way, if you have Matthew Stafford and a Lions drive stalls out in the red zone, at least you have the trusty Matt Prater available to knock a ball through and pick up some points for your team.
Our kicker rankings could change throughout the preseason as guys are cut and camp battles get decided, so check back for updates.
