The AFL has released the dates for the NAB AFL Draft and Trade Period, confirming the times for the 2022 offseason on Monday.

With the AFLW season set to complete the weekend of November 25-27, the first round of the men's NAB AFL Draft is to be held on the following Monday, November 28.

Clubs were told that the remaining rounds would be held on the Tuesday night (Nov 29), while the rookie and pre-season drafts on the Wednesday (Nov 30).

The League hopes that the draft will return to its normal state, with COVID-19 preventing the staging of one of its night of nights, revealing the year's top talent.

The AFL's Sign and Trade Period will commence in September, as the competition revealed its starting date as September 30 when the free agency window opens.

Players and clubs have a week - Friday, October 7 - to switch clubs, with sides then given an additional three days to match any bids that have come through by Monday, October 10.

The AFL Trade Period will start on Monday, October 3 and run until Wednesday, October 12 with the deadline finishing at 7:30pm AEDT.

Once the Trade Period is complete, clubs will be given until Tuesday, November 15 to make pick swaps prior to the draft that will occur a fortnight later.
