The 2023 VFL season begins Friday, March 24 and ends on Sunday, September 24, when it finishes with the Grand Final.
There are 21 clubs that will be vying for the premiership, including teams from New South Wales and Queensland, despite having 'Victoria' in its name.
Of those sides, 14 are AFL affiliate clubs (reserves) whilst there are seven stand-alone teams in the VFL.
Generally, there are 10 matches on across a weekend with one club having a bye.
However, due to clubs, travel and other considerations, there can be less games.

The 2023 SANFL competition starts on Friday, March 31, consisting of 10 clubs, including AFL affiliates Adelaide and Port Adelaide.
The AFL is giving more access to state leagues this year, adding the South Australian league to its platforms.

Fans can already watch Smithy’s VFL, rebel VFLW, WAFL, Coates Talent League Boys and Girls and Talent Pathway competitions such as the AFL National Championships for Boys and Girls.
As aa result to what the AFL is offering, footy lovers will have access to over 700 games in 2023, live and on demand.
The WAFL is also offered on the AFL's streaming website when the competition begins Friday, April 7.
Peel Thunder (Fremantle) and West Coast (West Coast Eagles) are the AFL affiliate clubs that will be in the West Australian competition.
How to watch the VFL on TV in Australia
Based on previous seasons, including 2022, VFL broadcast partner Channel 7 usually play at least one game on either Saturday or Sunday (depending on other scheduling).
The VFL is also shown on 7Plus so fans won't miss a specky or goal around the nation.
In some states, VFL coverage can also be on channels 7Mate or 7Two, dependent on local guides and other shows.
How to live stream the WAFL, VFL & SANFL online
Going off previous years there will be multiple ways to live stream the VFL in 2023.
The AFL.com.au. website as well as the AFL Live Official App streams every match from the reserves competition.
Games can also be watched on 7Plus through the main stream channel. Fans will need to sign up and login into the Channel 7's streaming service to watch the matches.
