The Sydney Swans subjected their fans to a poor performance, allowing Geelong to pile on goal after goal to lose by 81 points.
Unfortunately, there were too many bystanders for the Swans and that was reflected in the result.
As an opportunity goes begging, Sydney players will be kicking themselves and will have a sour taste in their mouth from the 2022 season.
Here's how we rated every Sydney player against Geelong...
Lance Franklin 1
Known as a big-game player, Franklin couldn't get the job done at all.
Had one shot on goal, a day the superstar would like to forget.
Tom Papley 4
Deployed in a midfield role, Papley tried his best but wasn't up to the Geelong task.
Usually at his best when he hits the scoreboard, the energetic Swan was well held.
Callum Mills 3
Just couldn't get himself going, despite launching a long bomb from outside 50.
Had a terrific season but was stopped by Mark Blicavs.
Luke Parker 7
Sydney co-captain battled valiantly, giving the difficult task of curbing 2016 Brownlow Medalist Patrick Dangerfield.
Parker was one of the Swans best.
Isaac Heeney 2
Didn't register a disposal until the second quarter and was the consensus of his performance.
Lacked impact up forward and in the midfield, Heeney is one of many who'll want to forget the 2022 Grand Final.
Chad Warner 9
The youngster didn't shy away from the big stage, but unfortunately his teammates did. Has a bright future and has proven to step up when it matters most.
Nick Blakey 2
Known for his dare and dash, Blakey couldn't get his game going as the Cats' pressure was too much to handle.
Was down on metres gained, which is usually an asset for the Swans.
Paddy McCartin 2
A great story but with no fairytale ending.
McCartin struggled to have impact in the air and was pushed forward in a last-ditch attempt.
Tom McCartin 2
Hawkins dominated, Tom McCartin struggled.
The stage and the day got to the Swans defender as Geelong ran riot.
Errol Gulden 2
A young player who is building to be something special, but couldn't put a strong performance on the biggest day.
Will Hayward 2
Started brilliantly and was bubbly around the goals.
However that's where it ended for the Swans and Hayward.
Tom Hickey 1
Was dominated by three Cats, including Hawkins, Stanley and Blicavs.
His day was set in stone when Hawkins kicked the first two goals from ruck stoppages.
Dane Rampe 4
Battled bravely in defence but wasn't given much hope with Geelong's constant onslaught.
Jake Lloyd 4
Another missed opportunity for Lloyd in a grand final and struggled to have impact.
Oliver Florent 3
Down on his usual output and couldn't break free from Geelong's pressure.
Sam Reid 0
Harsh review but was subbed out of the game and should not have played.
Justin McInerney 1
Had a bad day.
James Rowbottom 4
Rowbottom's consistency was impressive and battled on.
But Geelong's midfield was just too good.
Ryan Clarke 5
Was set with the task of Tom Stewart and did well.
Curbed the All-Australian's influence and found some of the ball.
Dylan Stephens 3
Another midfielder who struggled to get going for the Swans.
Robbie Fox 9
Giving the task of Jeremy Cameron, Fox was arguably Sydney's best player and curbed the Coleman Medal winners influence but was to no avail.
Hayden McLean 1
Brought in for Logan McDonald and had no impact.
Kicked one goal but that was about it.
Braeden Campbell (Medical Sub) 4
Played a third of the game and wasn't expected to do much as the sub.
Tried to give something when he came on but to little too late.
