Fremantle star Nat Fyfe could be in hot water with the match review officer after he collected Collingwood's Levi Greenwood with a high hit.

It was a dour day for the Dockers, with Collingwood cruising to a 61-point victory.

However, eyebrows raised when Greenwood was collected by Fyfe during the third quarter at the MCG on Sunday,

Watch the incident in the player below.

Just after he got the ball away to teammate Matt Scharenberg, Greenwood was caught by Fyfe, who appeared to catch the Pies onballer high with his forearm as he extended his arm away from his body.

In what may play into Fyfe's hands, Greenwood managed to get up and play on.

Regardless, the process lies at the feet of match review officer Michael Christian, who has taken a firm stance against players who bump when their arms come away from their bodies.

Of course, should Fyfe cop a ban, he would become ineligible for the Brownlow Medal.

According to three-time premiership coach Mick Malthouse, Fyfe is in "serious trouble", saying he chose to lift the arm.

"He’s had an option (and) chosen to lift the arm. I think he’s in serious trouble," Malthouse said on ABC Grandstand.

During Channel 7's broadcast, Leigh Matthews also weighed in on the incident, saying: "It’s only a question of what force there is in it and the impact."

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon remained tight-lipped on the incident.

"I didn't see that. That's not just a throwaway line," Lyon said after the game.

"Even if I did... unless you're going to pay my fine for the comments on the MRO I'm probably not prepared to comment."

Without tall Aaron Sandilands, who missed the game with concussion, Fyfe was kept quiet with 24 disposals as Fremantle's defence crumbled to a wrongsided inside 50 count (62-35).

The 21.12 (138) to 12.5 (77) result helped strengthen Collingwood's (7-4) position in the top eight, while the Dockers (4-7) sit in 13th.
