Hawthorn star Jonathon Patton has been hospitalised amid an investigation into allegations he sent multiple women inappropriate messages via social media.
The 27-year-old was on Monday stood down by the Hawks indefinitely after three women accused the former GWS forward of sending unsolicited lewd images.
"Hawthorn Football Club has stood down Jonathon Patton from all club commitments until the completion of its investigation into allegations of Patton’s inappropriate behaviour on social media," the club said in a statement on Monday.
"The club’s Integrity Committee met this afternoon and will continue to ascertain all relevant information.

"The club will provide a further update at the completion of the investigation and asks that the privacy of all parties involved be respected at this time."
Patton’s management Connor Sports on Wednesday told The Age their client ‘has been admitted to hospital to assist in the management of his ongoing mental heatlh’.
In a letter to members Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves confirmed the club is working in conjunction with the AFL Integrity Unit.
"This is a difficult time for all involved and it is important our club ensures that Jonathon receives the support he requires during this period," Reeves said.
"We take this matter very seriously and our Integrity Committee is working in conjunction with the AFL's Integrity Unit to undertake the investigation into these complaints within the framework of the AFL's Respect and Responsibility Policy.”
Patton was selected with the No.1 pick in the 2011 AFL draft by GWS.
He managed just 89 appearances for the Giants in eight injury-plagued seasons that saw him undergo three knee reconstructions.
Patton played six games in his debut season for the Hawks in 2020 after he was again troubled by fitness issues.
