Hannah Mouncey withdraws AFLW nomination, says AFL 'treated me like s**t' image

Transgender footballer Hannah Mouncey has withdrawn her nomination for the upcoming AFLW draft and hit Twitter saying the AFL had treated her “like sh*t”.

“The AFL has treated me like sh*t, with every effort made to wear me down to a point where I couldn’t continue,” Moucey wrote.

“Eventually what has gone on behind the scenes will come out, and it paints a sad picture of an organistaion with no leadership, who cares only for its corporate image above all else.”

Mouncey has played with the Darebin Falcons in the VFLW this year and finished second on the league’s goalkicking list with 19 goals from 12 matches.

“I’m comfortable in the fact that given the chance, I would have done well at the next level,” she said.

“I know I can do it, but it’s not worth what it’s currently costing.”

Mouncey said she wouldn’t be making any further comment at this time, but it is likely she will take the matter further.

In June this year she threatened to take the AFL to the Human Rights Commission if they had not formulated a policy by the end of July, and while she failed to follow through, it suggests there may be legal action ahead.
