Zach Tuohy, take a bow.

Every kid's dream - kicking a winning goal after the siren - fell at the Geelong defender's feet with Melbourne leading by four points.

Back in round 15, veteran teammate Harry Taylor unfortunately sprayed a chance after the siren against Western Bulldogs.

However, Tuohy hit it down the middle, and celebrated with his teammates and fans like it was 1999.

On Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium, the Cats, off the back of seven goals from birthday boy Tom Hawkins, escaped to score a thrilling 16.4 (100) to 14.14 (98) win.

It was a mean twist of fate for the Dees - back in the opening round, Melbourne looked set to seal a punchy win when Max Gawn took a pack mark just 30 metres from goal with less than a minute remaining.

However, the Demons ruckman would kick a behind, and the Cats clung on to win by three points.

Four months later, the tables had turned - this time, for Tuohy, who calmy slotted the shot to send the Cattery into ruptures.

It was one of those nights for the Demons - notably, in the second quarter, star Cats midfielder Patrick Dangerfield sneakily won a free kick and kicked the ensuing goal after nominating himself as the ruckman, with Angus Brayshaw getting pinged.

The Cats overcame a 29-point deficit early in the final quarter to score the insane two-point win.

Geelong moved back into the top eight with the result, sitting equal on 40 points with Melbourne, albeit trailing on percentage.
