'Disenchanted' Martin holidays on the Gold Coast with Richmond future undecided - Thursday, September 7
Martin is currently holidaying on the Gold Coast while he makes up his mind about his 2024 playing future.
The Suns are linked heavily with a trade for the 32-year-old, with Hardwick pulling the strings as their new coach.
Footy Classified's Caroline Wilson believes Martin is 'disenchanted' by recent happenings at Richmond and was undecided about his AFL future, but values loyalty.
According to Wilson, the Brownlow Medallist was struggling with the retirements of Cotchin and Riewoldt, and the fact the Tigers were yet to appoint a senior coach for next season.
"He hasn’t quite made up his mind … other clubs believe there is a conversation to be had," she said.
Where will Dustin Martin play in 2024?
While the most likely scenario is Martin seeing out his contract at Richmond next season, there is a possibility the superstar could leave the club.
First option appears to be the Gold Coast Suns, where Martin's former Tigers coach Damien Hardwick is now the leader.
The Suns have young, talented list that should be challenging for finals in 2024.
If Martin leaves, it's always been likely to a non-Victorian club with the gun famously not fond of the spotlight.
Brisbane, Sydney and GWS will likely throw their hat in the ring if Martin becomes available for trade.
