Former AFL coach Danielle Laidley will tell the story of her life in a documentary titled Revealed – Danielle Laidley: Two Tribes.

The production will screen in Australia through the middle of the AFL finals series.

Laidley's biographical documentary will premiere on Australian streaming service Stan on September 19 - in the week leading up to the AFL's preliminary finals.

It is another production in Stan's acclaimed Revealed series, with the Nine-Network affiliated service also announcing three other Revealed documentaries, including The Cape, Safe to Drink and Otto on Otto.

What will feature in 'Revealed – Danielle Laidley: Two Tribes'?

Danielle Laidley's story entails a childhood in Western Australia before she became an elite athlete in the AFL system with West Coast and North Melbourne, winning a premiership with the latter in 1996.

She then became an AFL coach at North Melbourne at 36, while also held assistant roles at Port Adelaide, St Kilda and Carlton,

Through all her sporting success, Laidley was battling gender dysphoria, before the struggle turned to legal and addiction issues in 2020.

The situation became more complicated when her transgender transformation became public through a leak via Victoria Police.

"Sharing my story with Australia fills me with anticipation and nerves. It hasn't been an easy journey, but I've cherished the memories and encountered incredible individuals along the way," Laidley said about the production.

"This story is raw and unfiltered, showing my lowest lows and highest highs, surrounded by those who stood by me. My truth is becoming increasingly common in today's world, highlighting the need for greater inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance."
