First, it was Jake Lever, with the former Crow-now Dees defender ruled out for the season.

Now, it's Charlie Cameron, with the Brisbane Lions forward rubbed out for the year.

Cameron hobbled off the field during the second quarter of Brisbane's loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

He did not return to the field for the remainder of the game.

On Tuesday, Brisbane confirmed Cameron will require surgery on a ruptured Lisfranc ligament in his right ankle.

"In consultation with our medical team, unfortunately Charlie has ruptured the Lisfranc ligament in his foot," Lions general manager of football David Noble said.

"He will require surgery and will be out for the rest of the season."

It's a bizarre twist of fate - on the same weekend, Demons recruit Lever injured his knee in an innocuous incident during his side's win over the Western Bulldogs.

While the incident didn't look too severe, the club's worst fears were confirmed on Monday, with Lever requiring season-ending surgery on a ruptured ACL.

Lever himself didn't think much of the initial incident, admitting his shock at the diagnosis.

Now, Cameron's season has come to end, just like Lever's - with both players high profile movers away from Adelaide at the end of last season.

The 23-year-old will have surgery next week.

Lions teammate Mitch Robinson will miss three weeks after suffering a broken toe on his right foot during the match against North Melbourne.

Allen Christensen (concussion), Hugh McCluggage (calf) and Jarrod Berry (hamstring) will all face a challenging week to recover ahead of Sunday's home game against Essendon.
