AFL Trades: Reports Nic Newman now the third Sydney Swans player to join exodus image

Sydney Swans youngster Nic Newman is reportedly now the third player at the club to join the exodus and seek a move to a rival club.

It comes a day after Swans stars Dan Hannebery and Gary Rohan both announced they were open to trades to Victoria for 2019 and beyond.

Sydney teammates Jake Lloyd and Luke Parker's names have also been thrown around the trade circus, however Swans' Head of Football Tom Harley said otherwise.

Harley was confident negotiations were progressing well with Lloyd, while he "unequivocally" confirmed Parker won't be going anywhere.

AFL.com.au has reported Newman is out of contract and likely to depart the club.

The Gold Coast Suns have emerged as a potential suitor with coach and former Swans assistant Stuart Dew considered a strong chance to sign Newman - who has played 31 games across two seasons on the club's senior list.

The talented defender has been a key part of John Longmire's side leading up to the 2018 finals series, although it is unlikely to keep Newman in Sydney.

The 25-year-old averaged just over 17 disposals and five marks a game this season.

It is unfamiliar territory for the Swans who aren't used to the high number of players requesting trades out of Sydney.

The Swans are often a club known for recycling players who haven't found a home elsewhere on the back of their "Bloods culture".

Sydney are set to be targeting Collingwood star Darcy Moore and will be active ahead of the AFL trade period beginning on October 8.
