In a three-way deal between the trifecta of clubs, they all came to an agreement with minutes remaining in the period but all left relatively happy.

Henry is the third first round selection that joins the Cats alongside Tanner Bruhn and Jack Bowes.

Mitchell adds depth to a Pies midfield while Stephens seeks more opportunity at a young club.

O'Meara returns to WA

Wednesday October 12

Jaeger O'Meara was traded at the death as the Western Australia product joins Fremantle.

In return, Hawthorn received Lloyd Meek, who is looking for more opportunity once realising he is behind Sean Darcy and recently acquired Luke Jackson.

Can the Roos steal Hunter Clark?

Wednesday October 12

St Kilda's Hunter Clark has come up in conversation again with a late move to North Melbourne on the cards.

Leading journalist Damien Barrett says it's still a chance despite the looming deadline.

"Those talks have re-ignited today ... it's still a possibility," Barrett said.

"There were conflicting reports as to what the Saints were wanting to do in this trade period, and Geoff Walsh coming in relatively late as footy operations boss did have a different view on some of those outcomes. And I think the Hunter Clark situation did get caught up in that.

"As the deadline nears, it's back in play."

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey believes the Saints would package Clark and pick nine for the North Melbourne's pick three.

"There has been some movement from the Saints' perspective on this," Twomey said.

"North Melbourne's pick No.3 has been open to offers ... my understanding is the Saints are interested in packaging pick 9 and Hunter Clark together to get up to pick No.3.

"But the Roos aren't going to do that ... North Melbourne are not going to part with (it) under that proposed dea

Lachie Hunter 50-50 to remain at Dogs

Wednesday October 12

Lachie Hunter remains a 50-50 chance to stay at the Western Bulldogs with the trade deadline looming.

Hunter's manager Paul Connors didn't reveal potential suitors for the winger but suggested a move could still be on the cards.

“Lachie (Hunter) and I have actually been having some good dialogue this week, he’s spoken to the club, feels like a fresh change might be good for him,” Connors said on SEN.

“It is late, but I would be suggesting he’s a 50-50 chance to move.

“We’ve kept it quiet, we think that there’s a little bit of interest for both parties.

“Sometimes there’s a win-win for player and club, and I think the player and club would think a fresh start for Lachie would be wonderful.

“I’ve got one club in particular (that's interested). They have got a few things to still tick off, and the Western Bulldogs are as busy as anyone today”.

Schache joins Demons

Wednesday October 12

Josh Schache has been traded from the Western Bulldogs to Melbourne for a future fourth round selection.

Schache has played 45 games in five seasons including 18 in the past three and has struggled to cement his spot in the senior side.

Replacing new Essendon player Sam Weideman, the 25-year-old is looking for more opportunity at the Demons.

The Dogs have put time into Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Sam Darcy, Aaron Naughton and Josh Bruce, while bringing in Liam Jones and hopeful on Rory Lobb.

Brisbane up offer for Dunkley

Wednesday October 12

Brisbane have upper their offer for Western Bulldogs' Josh Dunkley after the club initially rejected their offer.

The Lions are now willing to give up pick 21 and a future first round selection for Dunkley, with no picks coming back.

Herald Sun's Jon Ralph reported that the clubs are expected to come to an agreement before the deadline at 7:30pm.

Weideman's joins Bombers

Wednesday October 12

Sam Weideman is inbound to the Tullamarine, with Essendon scooping up the versatile tall shortly after losing Aaron Francis to Sydney.

Journalist David Cherny believes that Melbourne will snare pick 37 and give away Weideman and picks 54 and 72.

This was after Weideman's manager Ben Williams believed that a deal would be struck between the two clubs.

“Yeah I do (expect him to move),” Williams said on SEN.

“There’s a lot of goodwill between the clubs."

Francis joins Swans

Wednesday October 12

Aaron Francis has officially joined Sydney after a trade was struck with Essendon.

The Swans received Francis and pick 42 whilst the Bombers jump on the draft order with selection 37 and a future fourth-rounder.

The South Australian product was looking for a fresh start after struggling to cement his spot in the senior side, resulting in 4 games this season.

Henry prepares himself for Draft

Wednesday October 12

Collingwood's Ollie Henry is preparing himself to enter the National Draft as the Pies and Geelong have not yet come to an agreement.

The Cats have offered pick 25 for Henry which has been rejected, given the black-and-white want a first-round selection.

The athletic forward wants to reunite with his older brother, Jack, and is happy to try his luck out in the Draft.

It appears that Henry is not willing to return to Collingwood if a deal cannot be struck, according to AFL.com.au's Josh Gabelich.

Fremantle firming as favourite for O'Meara

Wednesday October 12

Hawthorn midfielder Jaeger O'Meara could have a new club by the end of day with Fremantle leading the race ahead of GWS, according to 7News Perth.

The 28-year-old, who hails from Western Australia, still has one season remaining on the four-year deal he signed with the Hawks in 2019.

Fremantle could include Lloyd Meek in any O'Meara trade with Hawthorn keen on securing ruckman, while any picks received for Rory Lobb from the Bulldogs could also be used.

The Giants currently have the better draft picks with 15, 18, 19 and 31 up for grabs if Hawthorn want to deal O'Meara.

Hopper deal done as Tigers snare another Giant

Tuesday October 11

Richmond have secured GWS' Jacob Hopper in exchange for pick 31 and a future first round.

Ivan Soldo was initially linked to the deal but wasn't included.

Hopper joins Taranto in a Giant heading to Punt Road ahead of the 2023 season, while Bobby Hill and Tanner Bruhn have also left the club.

The Tigers are keen on regenerating their list and returning to premiership contention with plenty of stars still on their list.

Pies reject Cats offer for Henry

Tuesday October 11

Collingwood have rejected Geelong's offer for forward Ollie Henry.

The Cats were willing to part ways with pick 25 but the Pies are keen to get a first-round selection.

Henry has made it known that he wants to join his older brother, Jack, down the highway in Geelong.

However, Collingwood list manager Graham Wright has expressed the club's desire to keep Henry if the perfect deal can't be brokered.

“We were really clear to Ollie, his management and Geelong about it and at this stage, we’re no further advanced than we were last Friday when they offered us pick 25 which we won’t accept," Wright said.

“Yeah, absolutely, we’d love Ollie to stay.

“We’ve been really clear with Ollie and his management around that.

“There’s a pull down the highway, we understand that, but it’s only 40 or 50 minutes up the road.

“We’d hope that if a trade couldn’t be secured – and it’s probably unlikely – that Ollie would stay with us and we can work something out with him.”

Fremantle join GWS in race for O'Meara

Tuesday October 11

Fremantle have expressed their interest in Hawthorn's Jaeger O'Meara despite GWS' initial curiosity.

7News' Tom Browne reported that both clubs have come hard for the former Sun as the deadline of Wednesday October 12 (7:30pm) looms.

Trades still to happen before Wednesday deadline (7:30pm)

Tuesday October 11

Josh Dunkley from the Bulldogs to Brisbane

Ollie Henry from Collingwood to Geelong

Jacob Hopper from GWS to Richmond

Tom Mitchell from Hawthorn to Collingwood

Rory Lobb from Fremantle to the Bulldogs

Lloyd Meek from Fremantle to Hawthorn

Esava Ratugolea from Geelong to Port Adelaide

Aaron Francis from Essendon to Sydney

Sam Weideman from Melbourne to Essendon

Brayden Fiorini from Gold Coast to Collingwood

Grun-Dee officially a Demon

Tuesday October 11

Brodie Grundy is officially a Melbourne player.

Collingwood received pick 27 in exchange for Grundy, as the Pies are keen to offload his salary to ease pressure.

This trade looms as a big inclusion for the Demons given they lost Luke Jackson to Fremantle on Monday.

The Grundy and Max Gawn combination could be lethal given the pair have been the premier ruckmen of the last five years.

Bowes and pick seven officially at Geelong

Tuesday October 11

Jack Bowes and pick seven have officially landed at Geelong.

Gold Coast were keen to get Bowes off their books to ease some salary cap space given his heavily back ended deal.

The midfielder is reported to have been owed $825,000 according to the Herald Sun.

The Cats will absorb his contract from the Suns and spread it over four seasons.

Frampton joins third AFL club as Pies cash in

Tuesday October 11

Billy Frampton has officially joined Collingwood in exchange for a future third round pick.

Frampton leaves Adelaide as a 25-year-old defender and is in line to replace the recently retired Jordan Roughead at the Pies.

The former Port Adelaide player has the versatility to play across the whole ground but is likely to be deployed in defence to assist Darcy Moore and Jeremy Howe.

Melbourne keen on landing Schache

Tuesday October 11

Melbourne have expressed interest in landing Schache as Collingwood may hold out on Brodie Grundy.

Schache has struggled to play consistent senior football and will struggled if the Western Bulldogs secure Rory Lob from Fremantle.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that the Demons are targeting the former Lion but is a fair way off.

“Melbourne is considering bringing in Josh Schache, they have some sort of an interest here,” Edmund said.

“Schache is 25, remains without a contract for next year at the Kennel… you would think (he is) set to slip further down the pecking order there given the pursuit of (Rory) Lobb and the emergence of Sam Darcy, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Aaron Naughton is there, perhaps a fit again Josh Bruce as well.

"If it was to happen you think it would be a Will Setterfield-type arrangement. They wouldn’t have to give up a lot I would have thought."

This also comes as Sam Weideman is considering a move to Essendon after 59 games for Melbourne.

Lobb trade moving forward

Tuesday October 11

Wantaway Fremantle forward Rory Lobb's trade request to Western Bulldogs is making headway after Luke Jackson's arrival at the club.

Lobb - for the second year in a row - has looked at a move to rival sides but is still in contract and has been held to it.

Herald Sun's Jon Ralph however believes that there will be a shuffle of deals between the Dockers, Bulldogs and Brisbane, with the latter after Josh Dunkley.

The Dogs could see a future first round and pick 21 from the Lions from the Dunkley trade, of which they'd use this year's selection for Lobb.

Brisbane secures goalsneak Gunston

Tuesday October 11

Brisbane have secured Hawthorn's Jack Gunston, striking a deal that saw pick 48 and a future fourth-pick sent to Waverley.

The Lions tried to avoid acquiring Gunston as a free agent to ensure they have enough draft points to land Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher.

AFL.com.au reported that the three-time premiership player will join Joe Daniher and Eric Hiwpood in the star studded forward line that recently lost Dan McStay to Collingwood.

Brisbane are still heavily involved with Josh Dunkley but has struggled to make progress with the Western Bulldogs, who are hellbent on securing high-end picks.

Pies threaten to hold onto Grundy

Tuesday October 11

Collingwood have threatened to hold onto Brodie Grundy, as Melbourne have rejected their last offer.

The Pies have demanded a top 25 pick for the two-time All-Australian, but the Dees have offered pick 27.

However, there was an exchange which saw the AIA Centre receive selections 13 and 27 whilst giving up Grundy and pick 16.

Melbourne rejected it, according to SEN.

With Collingwood alread bringing in Dan McStay, Bobby Hill and are looking at Billy Frampton, Tom Mitchell and Brayden Fiorini, it's hard to see Grundy stay.

Bombers hope they can snare Weideman

Tuesday October 11

Essendon is hoping to swap Aaron Francis for Melbourne's Sam Weideman in a three-team deal.

Francis has requested a trade to Sydney, while Weideman is looking for more opportunities at another club, with the Bombers are likely suitor.

AFL.com.au reported that the Swans, Melbourne and Essendon could conduct another 'mega' trade to send both players to their desired clubs.

Horne-Francis/Rioli tick. Now Ratugolea

Tuesday October 11

Shortly after Port Adelaide secured Jason Horne-Francis and Junior Rioli, their focus has turned to Geelong's Esava Ratugolea.

The Power currently hold pick 33, a selection they think could secure the forward-turned-defender.

Ratugolea is still contracted but is seeking more opportunities at a rival club.

This trade could help the Cats secure Collingwood's Ollie Henry as both sides are yet to come to an agreement for the former first rounder.

The Age's Peter Ryan believes there is still plenty to play out.

The Herald Sun's Jon Ralph also reported a swap of picks that could help Geelong secure Henry.

GWS approach O'Meara

Tuesday October 11

The Giants are targeting Hawthorn midfielder Jaeger O'Meara to reduce the loss of Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper (albeit the trade goes through).

In another bid to refresh the club, the Hawks aren't afraid to throw up some of their senior players, with Chad Wingard, Luke Breust and Tom Mitchell options in previous years.

O'Meara has been long-time friends with GWS' Stephen Coniglio and attending his wedding over the weekend, according to the Herald Sun.

The former Sun is contracted until the end of next year, like Mitchell, and could see Hawthorn pay for some of his salary if he opts to leave.

Rioli, Horne-Francis join Port Adelaide

Monday October 10

Jason Horne-Francis and Junior Rioli were granted their wishes to be traded to Port Adelaide, with a mega trade going through involving four clubs.

Horne-Francis has reportedly signed a six-year deal with the Power, after leaving North Melbourne within 12 months.

Rioli on the other hand is tied to the club until the end of 2026.

AFL's mega deal is back on

Monday October 10

An AFL mega deal is reportedly back on but with some adjustments.

The deal involving six clubs was initially knocked back by the AFL, who approves every term.

New and improved, the sides involved are North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, West Coast, GWS, Collingwood and Fremantle.

The Power will receive Jason Horne-Francis and Junior Rioli, while the Kangaroos will score picks two, three and Port's future first-rounder.

The Giants will snare pick one as the Eagles receive selections eight and 12.

The Dockers and Pies will take on Port Adelaide's future second and third round picks to satisfy the AFL's rules, according to the Herald Sun.

Collingwood have backed themselves into a corner

Monday October 10

Former Collingwood recruiter Matt Rendell believes his old club is heading for 'disaster' relating to the Brodie Grundy trade to Melbourne.

The Pies are hellbent on receiving a pick within the first 25 in an attempt to ease some salary pressure over the next five years.

The Demons currently hold pick 27 as their lowest selection in the upcoming draft.

The real interest now is what happens with Grundy,” Rendell said, according to SEN.

“So they’ve got that pick 27, apparently they’re not relenting on that it’s 27 or nothing.

“The biggest problem for Collingwood is they just have to take what Melbourne is going to give them because they can’t take him back.

“They’ve put Dan McStay in, they’ve put Bobby Hill in, and I’ve got a feeling they’ve promised Tom Mitchell (a contract) as well. They can’t take his money back."

Since Luke Jackson has landed at Fremantle, Grundy was always seen as his replacement for some time.

"So he’s going to have to go and Melbourne can dictate the terms on this. They (Collingwood) are not going to get what they wanted and it’s another (salary cap) disaster (for the club),” Rendell said.

“They’ll get a deal done, but they’ll get screwed over, that’s the problem.”

Fremantle lands Jackson in mega deal

Monday October 10

Luke Jackson has finally landed at Fremantle as a deal with Melbourne has been struck, while the Giants have landed a small forward.

The Dockers are set to receive Jackson and picks 44 and 67.

GWS will received Toby Bedford and the Demons will get picks 13, Fremantle's future first-rounder and a future second-round pick, according to AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey.

Crows get Rankine

Monday October 10

Adelaide and Gold Coast have finally agree on a deal that will send Izak Rankine back to South Australia.

Rankine will join the Crows with pick 46 and a future fourth round selection for pick five and future third and fourth round picks, according to Herald Sun's Marc McGowan.

The forward requested a trade in early August as he seeked a move to his home state, after slotting 29 goals in 2022.

The 22-year-old was a highly soughted talent back in 2018, selected with pick three by the Suns.

Could Georgiades unlock mega trade?

Monday October 10

Port Adelaide's Mitch Georgiades could be the piece of the puzzle that could unlock a six-club mega trade that sees Jason Horne-Francis join the Power.

SEN'Michelangelo Rucci believes the forward may be thought of to get the deal done, of which the AFL has initially denied.

“There was a six-club deal on the table on Friday until the AFL made it very clear to Port that you can’t move a future-first and a future-second at the same time,” Rucci said.

“I’m intrigued now with what unfolds in the next 24 hours, but it’s pretty clear that Port Adelaide will have to find a first-round pick around the place.

“It’s probably easier just to look to the west to see if West Coast or Fremantle are willing to do a deal.

“The thing with that is you’re going to hand something up, I’m beginning to wonder now whether Mitch Georgiades becomes the key to this one,” Rucci said.

“If that unlocks West Coast or Fremantle wanting to give away a first-round pick – Fremantle certainly need a forward and West Cost would bite on Georgiades.

“I wonder if that’s what Port have to do because they’re short on draft picks to be able to close all of these deals.”

Richmond give in to Hopper demands

Monday October 10

Richmond and GWS have seemingly come to a deal involving Jacob Hopper's move to Punt Road.

With Ivan Soldo heavily linked to a move to the Giants, it appears the Tigers are letting go of the ruckman to broker the trade.

According to the Herald Sun, Richmond are giving up Soldo, pick 31 and a future first-rounder for Hopper and a late pick.

This will leave the Giants with picks 3,12,15,18,19,31,44,61 and 63 for the upcoming 2022 AFL Draft.

SEN's Sam Edmund gives update on key targets

Monday October 10

SEN's Sam Edmund has given an update on some trade targets, as Ollie Henry, Lachie Whitfield, Luke Jackson, Brodie Grundy and Tom Mitchell have been linked to rival clubs.

Henry's deal to Geelong from Collingwood looks to have hit a stalemate.

“The one I worry about is Ollie Henry from Collingwood to Geelong," Edmund said.

“Collingwood clearly wants more, they want a first-round pick, Geelong are now out to (pick) 25, they would like to think that’s enough, I don’t think it is.

“They might get seven in for the Bowes deal, but the Cats at this stage are saying, ‘We don’t want to split pick seven, we want to take it to the draft’.

“I’m not sure unless Collingwood does a massive backflip how the Ollie Henry deal gets done.”

Whitfield is not going to be traded given Jacob Hopper will land at Richmond.

“The only reason I say that, it’s the same with Nick Haynes as well, that the (Jacob) Hopper deal will get done.

“The hold up at the moment is Ivan Soldo striking that deal with GWS, he will be involved in the trade once that contract is settled and gets done.

“It’ll be Richmond’s future first, pick 31 and Ivan Soldo (for Hopper), that’s the deal that’s been discussed for some time.”

Jackson's deal has also hit a roadbloack with Fremantle and Melbourne not budging on their wants.

“This is another one with no real movement over the weekend.

“Melbourne and the Dockers are trying to agree on what happens after Fremantle hands over this year’s pick 13 and a future first-rounder.

“Freo have wanted something back and Melbourne wanted more back.

"Jackson is the big circuit breaker though, that’s holding up Brodie Grundy and Rory Lobb trades.”

Grundy will move to the Demons.

“That’ll happen, both clubs have said it will happen.

“They’ve agreed on the financial terms with that, Collingwood and Melbourne, that’s in place.

“They want more than Melbourne’s pick 27 for Grundy, whether they’ll get it or not remains to be seen."

Mitchell should get to the Pies.

“I still think it gets done to Collingwood.

“This has been planned a long way out and was always going to happen late in the piece.

“It was always going to be subject to other things going on, there’s a chance it’s not happening of course."

Essendon eye off young pair

Monday October 10

Essendon have stated their interest in acquiring Melbourne's Sam Weideman and out-of-favour Carlton midfielder, Will Setterfield before the trade period ends on Wednesday.

Both were on restricted games in 2022, falling behind the likes of Ben Brown, Adam Cerra and George Hewett.

The Age's Michael Gleeson believes that the Bombers are set to swoop on Weideman, who has shown potential playing in front of the ball and behind.

7News' Mitch Cleary believes that Setterfield could also join Essendon in the coming days to assist in the midfield alongside Dylan Shiel and Zach Merrett.

Former recruiter Matt Rendell also agrees in the Bombers' pursuit of the Ex-Giant.

“I would be going for Will Setterfield, quality person, you always need quality people in your club,” Rendell said.

“I reckon they would get him for a second round (pick) at best, they might even get him for a third round.”

Is pick one up for grabs?

Friday October 7

North Melbourne and GWS are reportedly having conversations about pick one, with the Kangaroos keen on adding more young talent and splitting the prized selection.

Leading journalist Damien Barrett believes both clubs could be in the process of working out a situation where they swap picks for the 2022 NAB AFL Draft.

“GWS has entered conversations with North Melbourne over the loosening up of a few things, obviously North Melbourne has pick one, that by way of its ladder finish in 2022," Barrett said.

“GWS has, believe it or not, picks 3, 12, 15, 18… GWS now want North Melbourne’s pick one and I believe the Roos are open to that.”

GWS, Geelong come to agreement for Bruhn

Friday October 7

Geelong and GWS have reportedly come to an agreement to send Tanner Bruhn to the Cats.

Journalist Peter Ryan is under the impression that the Giants will receive pick 18 for the youngster, who is deciding to leave after two season at the NSW club.

Geelong also expect to snare Ollie Henry and Jack Bowes, with both requesting trades to the 2022 premiers.

Pies should be 'insulted' by Cats

Friday October 7

Collingwood should be 'insulted' by Geelong's offer for Ollie Henry, who has requested a trade down the highway to join his older brother, Jack.

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd believes that Cats have lowballed the Pies, with reports rising that the premiers' negotiation tactics are causing frustration according to Fox Sports.

“That’s the right word to describe it, that is insulting,” Lloyd said.

“I think that is one where you walk him to the Pre-Season Draft if he doesn’t want to be there.

“I’m sure he’d rather be at Collingwood than North Melbourne.”

Former Collingwood recruiter Matt Rendell also thinks the deal could fall through if Geelong continue their approach.

“I’m not sure it’s a certainty… to get done next week if it keeps playing out as it is playing out at the moment,” Rendell said.

“Geelong has offered Collingwood pick 38 for Oliver Henry. That’s way unders. Way, way, way unders.

“They are low-balling Tanner Bruhn, a former pick 12 as well. They want to keep hold of their pick 18 and supposedly their pick 7.

“Obviously Gold Coast want something for next year in return for Bowes, they’ve got to give something back for next year. I don’t know exactly what that will be but it’ll be at least a future second from Geelong for that deal to get approved.”

Fremantle urged to up ante for Jackson

Friday October 7

AFL legends Kane Cornes and Matthew Lloyd believe that Fremantle need to up their offer for wantaway ruckman Luke Jackson, who requested a trade to Western Australia.

Currently, the Dockers have offered two first-round picks, which the Herald Sun believes to be pick 13 and a future first round selection.

Cornes feels that that Melbourne should hold out for a better offer, with West Coast waiting in the wings with pick two.

“If I was Melbourne I wouldn’t be accepting Fremantle’s best offer of Pick 13 and a future first-round pick for Luke Jackson, considering he’s the most valuable prospect on the table table,” Cornes said.

“That is not fair I don’t think – Pick 13 and a future first – (the latter) which would be around the same (as Pick 13). So two late first-round draft picks for Luke Jackson, I don’t think is fair value.

“If I was Melbourne I would continue to hold out and look for a little bit more.”

Lloyd added: “I”m with you, I don’t think it’s enough. I think there has to be something inside the top 10 this year for them to trade Luke Jackson.”

Lobb asking price set

Friday October 7

Fremantle has revealed their asking price for wantaway forward/ruck Rory Lobb, who is keen to get to the Western Bulldogs in 2023.

Lobb had a career best year at the Dockers and is still contracted, but has made it known that he wants out, incidentally for the second consecutive year.

The Dogs initially offered pick 30 for the former Giant but has been rejected by the West Australian club, who think Lobb still has a role to play for them.

According to journalist Ryan Daniels, Fremantle are likely to ask for a late first round pick, which could help with the acquisition of Luke Jackson.

Bombers ready to pounce on Dunkley, again

Friday October 7

Merely two years after a deal couldn't be struck between Essendon and Western Bulldogs for Josh Dunkley, it seems that an opportunity has risen for the Bombers.

Brisbane and the Bulldogs are struggling to come to terms with an agreement that will see Dunkley head up north.

However, what will come back is the question, with the Dogs wanting two first-rounds picks in exchange.

The Lions have initially offered pick 21 and a future first-rounder, of which was rejected.

If no deal can be done, Dunkley may enter the pre-season draft, with the Bulldogs running the risk of a rival club snatching him up for nearly nothing, given he is out of contract.

This is where the Bombers come in.

Essendon hold pick four in the pre-season draft, well ahead both Bulldogs (11) and Brisbane (13) and could be lured to the club that he requested to go to at the end of 2020.

Port pair not leaving despite Roos desires

Friday October 7

Amid the Jason Horne-Francis request to Port Adelaide, North Melbourne are trying to identify players that could be included in the trade, with reports suggesting West Coast could get involved too.

Dan Houston and Xavier Duursma have been thrown into the mix as potential targets.

However, it is understood that both the Power and the players are not entertaining the idea.

Thomas staying put amid trade rumours

Friday October 7

Tarryn Thomas has stated his commitment to North Melbourne amid trade rumours that he may look to move to Gold Coast for 2023.

Thomas is still contracted at the Kangaroos until the end of 2024 and is keen to see out his deal, speaking on 7News.

“I’ve still got another two years,” he told 7News.

“I want to focus on my footy and do my two years at North Melbourne.

“Whatever the future holds, (I don’t know), but at the moment, I’m happy at North.

“I love the club. The club has done a fair bit for me and my family, I love North.”

After a tiring season where the club only won two games, Thomas knows he can go to another level, despite some critics on his game.

“I want to take my game to the next level,” Thomas added.

“I know I can be that next level player.”

Tigers deny Giants advances on young cub

Friday October 7

Richmond have knocked back the Giants' advances of youngster Hugo Ralphsmith.

Both clubs are in the midst of locking done another deal which will see Jacob Hopper at the Tigers in 2023, but not before a large exchange happens.

GWS have been reported to consider picks 31, future first-rounder and ruckman Ivan Soldo, who recently met with the NSW club.

The Giants also looked at Ralphsmith as a potential sweetener for the deal, but has since been denied by Punt Road.

7 News' Mitch Cleary said the 20-year-old's name was chucked around.

“One name that was raised initially from the Giants’ part was Hugo Ralphsmith,” Cleary said on 7 News.

“The young Tiger Rising Star nominee, he’s been really exciting for the Tigers.

“Adam Kingsley the new Giants coach is a big fan of this man Hugo Ralphsmith, I do understand he did ask as part of the Hopper deal if they could get their hands on Hugo Ralphsmith.

“It was knocked back pretty quickly, he did find his way out of the Tigers’ team at the late part of the season but that won’t be happening.

“But Adam Kingsley was keen to get the ball rolling on that.”

Suns keen on Poulter

Friday October 7

Gold Coast have expressed their interest in Collingwood wingman Caleb Poulter, who is out of contract.

Poulter, who played 11 games in his debut season, found it difficult to get a game under coach Craig McRae as the Pies rose from 17th to a preliminary final.

The South Australian has been hoping to continue his career elsewhere, with the likelihood that he may not get a contract at the AIA Centre.

Brayden Fiorini is a chance to head to Collingwood as well, which means a deal could be brokered that would involve Poulter heading to the Suns, according to AFL.com.au.

Crouch departure still on the cards

Thursday October 6

Matt Crouch could still leave Adelaide amid interest from three rival clubs, according to Herald Sun.

Crouch - who has fallen out of favour at the Crows - played 11 games in 2022, despite dominating the SANFL, where he averaged 37 possessions and eight clearances.

Although still being contracted until 2023, clubs have floated in for the 2017 All-Australian.

Journalist Matt Turner believes that Crouch could still seek opportunities elsewhere.

"But it is understood Crouch may opt to request a trade in the next few days," Turned said.

"The Victorian is really keen to play regularly at the top level, rather than be a second-string player, which Adelaide has been viewing him as."

New Giant coach seeks Ralphsmith

Thursday October 6

New GWS coach Adam Kingsley has identified Hugo Ralphsmith as a player he'd like at GWS.

Amid Jacob Hopper's deal that will likely see the midfielder join Richmond, the Giants are expecting a hefty price, with picks 31, a future first-round and Ivan Soldo an initial asking price.

However, seeing Kingsley recognised Ralphsmith as a potential player, the 20-year-old could be included in the trade that would be the second exchange between the clubs.

Tomlinson could seek third AFL club

Thursday October 6

Melbourne utility Adam Tomlinson could seek more opportunities at a third AFL club, having fallen behind the likes of Harrison Petty, Steven May and Jake Lever, reports SEN.

Playing only eight games in 2022, the former Giant may look elsewhere to continue his career, fearing he won't get a consistent look in at the Demons, says player agent Brett Deledio.

“Yep, at the moment we’re sort of in the hands of Tim Lamb and the Dees,” Deledio said.

“We’ve been (trying) to get something and another club to participate I suppose.

“For Thommo, look, he’s a contracted player, he loves the boys, loves the club, but he’s frustrated that he’s not playing senior footy.

“You can understand that. It’s unfortunate with his injury and spending 12 months on the sidelines, but sometimes a knee reconstruction can take you a little while to get back up to playing your best footy.

“He played some solid footy this year, was one of the best in the VFL with the flag that they won but Thommo wants to be playing senior footy at the age that he is.

“If someone comes, we’ll entertain it and have a look at it to see if it works best for both parties.

“But essentially, he’s contracted and happy to stay there if nothing comes about.”

Deledio was asked if rival clubs are keen on Tomlinson.

“There’s a few that are watching this space,” Deledio said.

“That’s in terms of what else they can get done and where the cards fall.

“I feel for him, he works incredibly hard to be at the front of every training session with the work he puts in.

“But unfortunately, he’s behind a couple of pretty handy players at the Dees.

“In the same breath, you can know things change very quickly.”

Dunkley deal on life support

Thursday October 6

Josh Dunkley's deal to Brisbane is reportedly on life support as the days count down to the end of the AFL Trade Period, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

"The Western Bulldogs are prepared to let Dunkley go through to the pre-season draft, such is their frustration over a lack of progress with the Lions on a suitable deal," Edmund said.

The Lions traded out their pick 15 for pick 21 and a future second-round selection with GWS to help broker a trade for Dunkley.

"Two first-round picks, even reasonably late, gets it done for the Dogs. Depending on how close the Lions can claw 21 back to 15, but the Dogs aren’t going to give anything back.

"The Lions also wanted the Dogs’ two second-round picks back (30 and 39). It came with a massive cost back the other way. Plus a future third.

"The Dogs last night sat down and are now committed to getting nothing in return if it gets to that. Dunkley would go into the open market."

Corbett set to join Dockers

Thursday October 6

Gold Coasts's Josh Corbett is set to sign with Fremantle, following 33 games for the Suns.

Corbett has been starved of opportunities, falling behind the likes of Mabior Chol, Levi Casboult and Ben King in recent times.

The Dockers are in need of some forward line presence, with Griffin Logue departing to North Melbourne and Rory Lobb wanting out of the club.

AFL.com.au's Riley Beveridge believes Fremantle will part ways with a future fourth-round pick for Corbett.

The West Australian side wanted to combine Jeremy Sharp into the deal but looks unlikely and will be done independently.

Rankine expected to join Crows

Thursday October 6

Izak Rankine is expected to join Adelaide as soon as Thursday, with Gold Coast and the Crows set to agree on a deal.

Rankine - who requested a trade back to his home state - will join the South Australian side as a talented small forward, with the Suns receiving pick five and a "sweetener", which could be a future selection, according to SEN'Sam Edmund.

“Izak will be dealt to Adelaide today, this deal will go through in the coming hours,” Edmund said.

“It will be for pick five but not pick five on its own. The Suns want selections in next year’s draft.

“There’s some academy kids coming through, there will be a sweetener here in some way for the Suns.

“Whether it be a future pick given by Adelaide on top of five, or maybe a swap of future picks that works out favourably for the Suns.

“Something like that will happen today is my understanding.

“There’s a basic understanding that this deal gets processed today.”

Hopper deal should get done

Thursday October 6

The Jacob Hopper deal should get done this trade period, as a revised package that includes Richmond's Ivan Soldo expected to work, according to SEN'Sam Edmund.

Hopper will join GWS teammate Tim Taranto, who was sent to the Tigers for picks 12 and 19 on Monday.

Edmund believes that the deal to get the midfielder to Punt Road will include the Giants receiving pick 31, Soldo and a future first rounder.

“Jacob Hopper to Richmond will get done, it just happens,” Edmund said.

“He has a year to run on a contract.

“The Tigers will give up their future first-round selection, pick 31 this year and it looks like Ivan Soldo. I think that’s the package at the moment.

“Soldo wasn’t playing at Richmond late in the season, but he can play at GWS regularly. They met yesterday, the Soldo camp."

There also has been noise about Lachie Whitfield and Nick Haynes, but Edmund believes the pair will stay given Hopper's departure.

"A lot of smoke around Lachie Whitfield. My personal belief and understanding from speaking to people around it is it won’t be happening,” Edmund said.

“Nick Haynes won’t be happening. He’s happy in Sydney as well.

“I think Hopper gets done which perhaps means Lachie Whitfield, there’s no need for him to be traded anyway.”

Former Crow backs in youngster over JHF

Thursday October 6

Former Adelaide player Richard Douglas has backed in youngster Jake Soligo while also doing a little drive-by of Jason Horne-Francis.

Horne-Francis recently requested a trade to Port Adelaide, with the Crows not even an option for the 2021 pick one.

Douglas was asked if Adelaide would consider an offer for the North Melbourne player, with Soligo and a future first rounder packaged to secure the 19-year-old.

However, the 246-gamer scoffed at the idea, suggesting Soligo will be a better player than Horne-Francis.

“Jake Soligo will be better footballer than Jason Horne-Francis," Douglas said on Sportsday SA.

“Adelaide would be silly if they’re not doing a bit of research into Jason so they’ll be putting the feelers out there.

“If he wants to get to Port Adelaide, they probably won’t stand in his way.

"It could be a bit too high risk for Adelaide.”

Roos, Power and Eagles discuss mega-trade

Thursday October 6

North Melbourne, Port Adelaide and West Coast are reportedly in talks of a mega-trade, which could see Jason Horne-Francis have his wish granted.

According to the Herald Sun, the Power could end up with the wantaway pick one and Junior Rioli, with the duo keen to get to the Power.

The deal proposed would include the Eagles sending pick two to Port Adelaide for pick eight and a future first-round selection.

North Melbourne would receive pick two in the 2022 Draft as well as another pick or player from the Power.

Update on Collingwood trade targets

Thursday October 6

Herald Sun's Jon Ralph has provided an update on Collingwood's trade targets, as the club eyes off Billy Frampton, Brayden Fiorini and Tom Mitchell after securing Dan McStay and Bobby Hill.

The Pies are hoping that a future third-round pick will secure Frampton from Adelaide.

The defender is out of contract and could be delisting by the Crows if Collingwood and Adelaide cannot come to an agreement.

Fiorini is almost set to join the black-and-white in 2023, with the club splitting his $600,000 pay packet over three seasons at the AIA Centre.

Hawthorn and Collingwood also have engaged in meaningful conversations revolving around Mitchell, despite his desire to play under Craig McRae.

Cornes, Lloyd take shots at overpaid Giants

Thursday October 6

Kane Cornes and Matthew Lloyd have made their feelings heard in regards to GWS players, with Lachie Whitfield and Nick Haynes the topic of their conversation.

The pair, who are close to earning a $1 million for 2023 each, could be used as trade bait given the club is in desperate need to get some money off their books.

Whilst Tim Taranto has landed at Richmond and Jacob Hopper likely to do the same, the Giants could use this trade period as an opportunity to refresh and build their list again.

However, Lloyd wonders if a club would take on Haynes, despite his reportedly high paycheck coming his way next season, according to SEN.

“12 months ago you’d say you’d jump all over Nick Haynes. I don’t think they helped him (this year), they played him at half-forward this year and he just lost his way as the team did,” Lloyd said.

“He’s on significant money, the talk is close to $1 million that may be back ended. I think Lachie Whitfield would be more attractive at this point in time.”

Cornes agreed on the Whitfield comment, suggesting he can be a top-five player in the competition.

“Whitfield is the one I’d be interested in. There would be clubs out there – I mean once again his year was ordinary by his standards, but previously he has had seasons where he looks like a top five player in the competition and has running power a lot of teams would love,” Cornes said.

“But of course it is a five-year deal for a player that probably hasn’t lived up to the contract he’s been signed for.”

Barometer on the move? Lions mid explores options

Thursday October 6

Rhys Mathieson has been reported of exploring his options, as Brisbane expects Josh Dunkley and father-son gun Will Ashcroft to join the club in 2023.

Mathieson, who played 10 games in 2022, has found himself on the outer over the past few seasons and could seek opportunities elsewhere, according to 7 News reporter Mitch Cleary.

With a year to go on his contract, it does seem like a wise move by the Geelong Falcons product who has showed his ability to find the ball and hit the scoreboard through his 72 games, famously known by his 'shotgun' celebration.

Former recruiter urges Pies to go after Ratugolea

Thursday October 6

Former recruiter Matt Rendell has urged Collingwood to pursue Geelong's Esava Ratugolea.

Speculation is starting to build surrounding the ruck/forward, who has found himself out of the senior side due to Tom Hawkins, Jeremy Cameron, Rhys Stanley and Gary Rohan.

Attracting interest from Port Adelaide, Rendell believes Ratugolea suits the Pies and what they are trying to achieve, especially given that Ollie Henry could be included to help broker a trade with the Cats.

"It’ll be interesting to see if they can keep hold of players like Ratugolea,” Rendell said, according to SEN.

“It’s still hard for him to get in that team.

“Sam De Koning and Jack Henry are going to be in the key defensive positions for the next 10 years… I can’t see how he gets in front of either of those two players.

“He needs to move, he needs to go play, he’s good enough to play.

“Collingwood should be (in the market for him)... I’d be going for Ratugolea before Frampton, and it’s an easy deal (in a trade) with Oliver Henry,” Rendell added.

Brisbane list manager provides updates on trades

Thursday October 6

Brisbane list manager Dom Ambrogio provided updates on the potential inclusions for 2023, with Josh Dunkley, Jack Gunston and Deven Robertson, reported by SEN.

Dunkley, who has requested a trade to the Lions and is keen to move north, is expected to join the club in the coming days, with Ambrogio confident of a deal getting done.

“We’re rapt that Josh is keen to come to Brisbane,” Ambrogio said.

“It’s always nice when a player of Josh’s quality is so determined to become a Lion.

“We respect the Bulldogs greatly so we’re not keen to have the negotiations with them played out in public.

“But we’re very confident and we’ll keep working together to land on a fair outcome in the timeframe we need to.”

Gunston, who does classify. as a free agent, seems likely to be traded to the club so the Lions don't lose draft points to help secure both Will Ashcroft and Jasper Fletcher.

“We’ve had some preliminary talks with the Hawks about that,” he added.

“That’s something we’ll explore to see if we can come up with something that is mutually beneficial, absolutely.”

Robertson is another player watched closely, as rival clubs may swoop given the midfielder could be squeezed out, despite showing plenty of talent.

He’s very much a required player with the Lions,” Ambrogio said of the 21-year-old.

“We only need to watch his finals series to see how valuable he is as a player to us with his defensive intent, his toughness and his two-way running.

“We’re really keen to retain him because we think he’s got a very bright future for us.”

Gold Coast snare Long, Berry

Wednesday October 5

Gold Coast have added two youngsters to their list, with Ben Long (St Kilda) and Tom Berry (Brisbane) joining the club for 2023.

Long - who is a dashing half back - came from the Saints to lock down a position after being thrown around at the club.

The 25-year-old comes to the club with a future fourth-round pick, while St Kilda claims pick 32 in this years draft.

Berry has left his older brother, Jarrod and united with the Lions' arch rivals.

Starved of opportunity, the youngster wished to be traded to continue his AFL career and has landed at the Suns.

Berry will be used as a small forward who applies pressure, especially since Gold Coast will lose Izak Rankine to Adelaide.

Bowes chooses Geelong

Wednesday October 5

Gold Coast's Jack Bowes has selected Geelong as his preferred destination in 2023.

The Suns are attempting to offload Bowes' contract, which has been heavily back-ended and worth around $850,000 next year.

Gold Coast are pairing their current pick seven with the 24-year-old to sweeten the deal, which has enticed a range of clubs.

The Cats beat out the likes of Essendon, Hawthorn and St Kilda.

St Kilda confirms interest in Ratugolea

Wednesday October 5

St Kilda has confirmed its interest in Geelong's Esava Ratugolea.

Newly appointed GM Geoff Walsh has stated that the club will look to "inject top-end talent" ahead of the 2023 season to take the Saints to the next step.

The Cats previously said Ratugolea was off the cards but seems to be weakening if the right deal is struck, as the forward/ruck has been starved for AFL opportunity.

Dow to explore options

Wednesday October 5

Carlton and Paddy Dow are happy to part ways, with the club happy to facilitate a trade that suits both parties.

Dow has struggled to have any impact in 2022, being unable to play senior football regularly due to the inclusion of Adam Cerra and George Hewett.

Selected with pick three in the 2018 AFL Draft, the 22-year-old hasn't yet met his potential but showed impressive form in the VFL throughout the year.

Blue list manager Nick Austin is hopeful that a rival club will be keen on Dow, who is looking to extend his career elsewhere, according to AFL.com.au.

"It's still pretty early. We are in discussions at the moment," Austin said.

"Paddy's a really popular member of our group and he's a fantastic kid. He's got some talent as a footballer.

"(There's been) a lot of transformation, particularly with our inside midfield group. The guys we brought in through trade last year have kind of meant opportunities at AFL level, particularly for Paddy, have dried up.

"...We've at least tried to help get him opportunities, so we are hoping, for his sake, that there's someone out there that's willing to get that."

Giants could help unlock Dunkley trade

Wednesday October 5

GWS could help Brisbane unlock the Josh Dunkley trade, who recently nominated the Queensland club as his preferred destination in 2023.

The Lions could potentially cough up two first round picks, of which the Western Bulldogs want in exchange for Dunkley.

Brisbane currently have pick 15 but are open to splitting the selection, with the Giants entering the conversation.

The Herald Sun reported that GWS could give the Lions pick 21 and a future second-round pick for 15.

This swap will offer Brisbane more flexibility.

Pies fail to keep Henry

Wednesday October 5

Collingwood's last-ditch attempt to keep forward Oliver Henry has failed, according to the Herald Sun.

Geelong are keen to sign the athletic forward, with older brother Jack a pulling factor for the young Pie.

Collingwood initially offered a two-year deal but lessened that to one to keep Henry, who seems posed to join the premiers.

It's become apparent that the black-and-white army would want a first-round pick in exchange for the 20-year-old, with Geelong not too keen on that.

Cat list boss Andrew Mackie believes something can still get done.

“The common value for these guys where there is still a lot of projection involved in their playing (performance) is tough,” Mackie said.

“But we sat down with Collingwood yesterday and we will do that again and we will try and work through (things).

“They haven’t talked players, it’s draft selection sort of stuff.

Cordy becomes a Saint

Wednesday October 5

Zaine Cordy has swapped out the blue for black, joining St Kilda as an unrestricted free agent.

Cordy will join the Saints on a three-year deal, after knocking back the Western Bulldogs' offer of two seasons.

The former Dog said he's excited to join the club ahead of the 2023 campaign.

“I’m really happy to be joining the Saints,” Cordy said.

“While I loved my time at the Bulldogs and will forever be grateful for the opportunities they gave me, I’m confident the time is right for this next chapter of my career.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all my teammates and coaches after the break and getting stuck into a big pre-season.”

Gawn 'aggressive' in Grundy pursuit

Wednesday October 5

Melbourne skipper Max Gawn is 'aggressive' in his pursuit of Collingwood's Brodie Grundy, who is set to join the Demons in the coming days.

Media personality Gary Lyon says Gawn has taken an active role in helping the transition of Grundy to his new club, reported on SEN.

“I am told that Max Gawn is driving this as aggressive as anyone, which is making Brodie feel very comfortable,” Lyon said.

“He’s the one that has put Brodie’s mind at rest as to how it could work and the role that he’s prepared to play to make it work.”

Richmond told to up ante for Hopper

Wednesday October 5

Richmond's current draft picks won't be enough to secure GWS' Jacob Hopper, as the Tigers hold pick 31 and a future first-round.

Giants list boss Jason McCartney says the pair of picks is not enough, according to Fox Sports.

“That’s all they’ve got left obviously,” McCartney said.

“Everyone would understand that once that future first goes out, unless something else is coming in, the futures can’t be touched.

“So that’s what remains. That would feel to be a little bit short for a player of that quality (Hopper) and Richmond understand that.”

Tiger ruckman Ivan Soldo has been floated as a sweetener for the Hopper deal, with GWS starting to address the possibility.

“If you’re going to facilitate a deal on a contracted player you don’t want to be scrambling in the last couple of days. There is a lot of work going in there,” McCartney said.

“He will be one we will have a conversation about and do some work on. You have to make sure your medicals check out before you push the button on any player transaction.”

Bonner could unlock JHF trade

Wednesday October 5

Shortly after Port Adelaide denied Zak Butters' involvement in a Jason Horne-Francis trade, North Melbourne have turned their eyes to Riley Bonner as a potential sweetener in the swap.

Bonner is contracted for 2023 but has been floated as an option to secure the South Australian, who is keen to return to his home state.

The Herald Sun reported that the Kangaroos could benefit from the 25-year-old half back while it also gave the Power more "trade collateral to satisfy the Roos."

Saints eye off tall Dog

Wednesday October 5

St Kilda are eyeing off free agent Zaine Cordy, who is yet to sign with the Western Bulldogs.

Cordy has been a regular in the Dogs defence, playing 114 games since he debuted in 2015.

However, throughout 2022, the 25-year-old has found himself in the reserves, as coach Luke Beveridge has decided to play Ryan Gardner and Alex Keath instead.

Cordy played 14 matches this year, including this last five.

The Saints are in need of some key defenders to assist Dougal Howard and Callum Wilkie.

Josh Battle has become a sound back man recently but another one could ensure some stability in the defensive 50.

Cordy is likely to sign a three-year deal with St Kilda, despite being offered a two-year contract by the Dogs, according to AFL.com.au.

Long deal to take its time

Wednesday October 5

St Kilda's Ben Long has requested a trade to Gold Coast, but it appears both clubs are in a stalemate over what pick the Saints will receive.

Long - who was a former pick 25 in the 2016 Draft - is seeking a fresh start at the Suns, where he'll most likely play on the half back.

However, the pursuit of free agent Zaine Cordy has put a hold on Long's deal with Gold Coast.

The Age reported that the Suns won't part ways with anything more than pick 36.

Gold Coast list manager Craig Cameron said that the trade won't get done in a hurry.

“We’re still negotiating with St Kilda. We met with them today and that hasn’t moved very far yet, so we’ve got a little while to get through that,” Cameron said.

Could Zak Butters unlock Horne-Francis trade?

Tuesday October 4

North Melbourne have made preliminary enquiries on Port Adelaide's Zak Butters, after 2021 pick one Jason Horne-Francis stated he wants to return to South Australia?

Butters is quickly becoming a versatile forward/midfielder and is an important player in the Power line-up.

However, Horne-Francis has previously stated that he'd like to be traded to the Power only, not cross-town rivals Adelaide, despite having one more year left on his contract.

McStay papers lodged as forward will join Collingwood

Tuesday October 4

Brisbane's Daniel McStay will join Collingwood as a free agent.

The Lions will receive a compensation pick, which is currently pick 35 but is prone to shift back due to father-son selections and next-generation academy players.

The Pies have been long linked to the key forward who is keen to return to his home state Victoria.

Jones set to join Dogs

Tuesday October 4

Liam Jones' paperwork to join the Western Bulldogs is currently being lodged, according to AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey.

Jones - who prematurely retired due to vaccinations mandates - has been eyeing off a return to AFL football after leaving Carlton at the end of 2021.

The 30-year-old began his career at the Bulldogs and will rejoin his former club where he debuted in 2010.

The Blues are yet to know what they'' receive for compensation.

Corbett nominates Fremantle

Tuesday October 4

Gold Coast's Josh Corbett has nominated Fremantle as his choice of destination.

Corbett managed only four games in 2022 and is looking for a fresh start, with the Dockers happy to oblige since losing Griffin Logue and potentially Rory Lobb.

The 26-year-old has proven to be a handy key forward, standing at 190cm as well as being versatile in attack.

To help broker the deal, Suns running machine Jeremy Sharp also wants to return to Western Australia and could be included in the deal, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Acres locked to join Blues

Tuesday October 4

Blake Acres, Fremantle and Carlton have come to an agreement, with the Docker set to join Ikon Park.

Acres will be traded to the Blues for a future third-round pick, according to leading journalist Riley Beveridge.

Fremantle pair to join North Melbourne

Tuesday October 4

Griffin Logue is all but set to join North Melbourne, despite the Alastair Clarkson drama.

Logue has long been linked with the Kangaroos and is keen for a fresh start, being one of multiple players leaving Fremantle.

The former top 10 pick is bound to sign a lucrative deal, nearing $750,000 a season.

Likely to join Logue is teammate Darcy Tucker, who has fallen out-of-favour with the Dockers and is looking for a new challenge.

North Melbourne are set to part ways with their future second and third-round picks to help secure the pair, according to AFL journalist Cal Twomey.

Ratugolea gaining interest from rivals

Tuesday October 4

Geelong's Esava Ratugolea is piquing the interests of rival clubs, including Port Adelaide.

Ratugolea has played 59 games since debuting in 2018, but only managed to add four in 2022 as the Cats went on to win the premierships.

Failing to break into the senior side as a key forward due to Tom Hawkins, Gary Rohan and Jeremy Cameron, the 24-year-old has reportedly been trialed as a defender.

List manager Andrew Mackie made comment on Ratugolea's situation.

"Esava is an interesting one," Mackie said, according to AFL.com.au.

"He's a contracted player and no doubt the coach does love him, we love him, but totally understand he's trying to work out where he's going to play his footy. We're pretty clear on how that looks."

Grundy will be in new colours in 2023

Tuesday October 4

Brodie Grundy has played his last game at Collingwood, with the club keen to get his salary off their books to ease some pressures.

Melbourne, who have been long linked with the two-time All-Australian, will lock away Grundy in the coming days as conversations between the two organisations continue to progress.

AFL journalist Cal Twomey believes that the Pies will be hoping to secure a pick within the top 25 selections for Grundy.

“I think Collingwood is pushing… for a top 25 pick for Brodie Grundy, so an early second rounder,” Twomey stated.

“Clearly there’s going to be some other factors involved in this move. There’s going to be how much Collingwood is willing to top up of his deal over the next five years given he’s got close to a million dollars for the next five years (per season) for the remaining part of his contract… clearly they’ve had those discussions.

"...at the moment Melbourne has pick 33. They’ll be trying to inch that up the board, they also have to see what comes through from the Luke Jackson deal, and that could be a factor in how this one eventually plays out.

“But I think for all intents and performances we’ve seen the last of Brodie Grundy at Collingwood.

Giants hint at asking price for Hopper

Tuesday October 4

GWS have given an indication in what they'd want in return for Jacob Hopper, who still has one more year left on his deal.

The Giants would like a combination of picks and players for the midfielder, who has requested a trade to Richmond.

Since Tim Taranto is officially a Tiger for picks 12 and 19, there is not much Richmond can play with in terms of picks, meaning a player(s) swap might be involved.

GWS' list manager Jason McCartney said there needs to be more work done.

“Being in contract is an advantage for us, that’s for sure,” McCartney said.

“It’s just a unique scenario that two high quality players are going to the one club. Putting forward what you’ve got is fantastic, but it ultimately isn’t enough in the end.

“It feels like there needs to be a bit more work done on that (acquiring Richmond players), it’s not obvious with what Richmond has sitting there at the moment that it can get done.

“We definitely need that extra time to look at things that can be done there to improve what a deal could look like.”

Ivan Soldo was floated as a potential trade option.

Premiership Demon meets with rival

Tuesday October 4

Melbourne premiership player James Harmes has met with Essendon and could look to be traded, despite having two years on his contract.

Harmes, who is playing less midfield due to the likes of Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Jack Viney and Angus Brayshaw could seek opportunities elsewhere.

7 News' Mitch Cleary reported that the 26-year-old is considering his options.

“Melbourne midfielder James Harmes is a man in demand and has held a conversation with Essendon as he ponders whether to ask for a trade,” Clearly said on 7 News.

“The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his Demons deal so they would need to tick off a move, but his midfield minutes have dried up with Angus Brayshaw’s move into the engine room.”

Rioli pricing revealed

Tuesday October 4

West Coast have revealed their asking price for Junior Rioli as the small forward wants to be traded to Port Adelaide.

The Eagles want the compensation the Power received from Karl Amon as a minimum (currently pick 27), according to the Herald Sun.

Port Adelaide - who are keen to acquire Jason Horne-Francis - are also trying to add Rioli after the retirement of Robbie Gray.

McDonald-Tipungwuti considering shock return

Tuesday October 4

After prematurely retiring, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is considering a shock return to the AFL, with Fremantle leading the charge for his services, according to Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd.

McDonald-Tipungwuti decided to hang up the boots due to an inability to overcome injuries and get himself fit and healthy to play senior football, according to SEN.

Lloyd believes that the Bombers are keen to bring in the 29-year-old but the Dockers are ahead.

“A bit of news, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti was in the room despite retiring earlier in the year and he is contemplating a return back to football to play AFL next year,” Lloyd said.

“Essendon are very keen for him to re-join Essendon, but leading the race to have Anthony next year is the Fremantle Dockers.

“Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is considering a move to Western Australia to play for Fremantle if he does decide he’s going to put the work in and play AFL football again.

“Both the Bombers would like him to play and Fremantle leading the race currently."

Swans eyeing off fringe Bomber

Tuesday October 4

Sydney are looking like signing fringe Essendon player, Aaron Francis, who is keen for a fresh start.

Francis has been linked with a move for some time, especially when he requested a trade back to South Australia in 2017, according to SEN.

However, alike Paddy McCartin, the Swans will continue to bolster their defence with limited risk and was one of the feel-good stories of 2022.

Taranto becomes a Tiger

Monday October 3

GWS and Richmond have come to an agreement, which sees Tim Taranto join the Tigers.

The Giants receive pick 12 and 19 in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.

Bobby Hill a Magpie

Monday October 3

GWS' Bobby Hill has long been linked to a move to Collingwood, with the deal completed on the first day of the AFL Trade Period.

Hill - who has overcame testicular cancer - played 11 games in 2022 and is returning to Victoria to be closer to family and friends.

The small forward has plenty of upside, being only 22-years-old after serving four seasons and 41 games at the Giants.

Hill was sent to the Pies with pick 40, whilst GWS pick 43 and a future second round pick.

West Coast get Hunt-in

Monday October 3

West Coast have reportedly signed Melbourne speedster Jayden Hunt on a three-year deal.

Hunt joins the Eagles after 114 games with the Dees, despite playing 20 games in 2022.

He joins the club as an unrestricted free agent, meaning West Coast won't have to give anything up for Hunt.

It is still unsure what Melbourne will receive in compensation, but is more or less likely to be around a third-round pick.

Horne-Francis wants out

Monday October 3

North Melbourne's Jason Horne-Francis has officially requested a trade away from Arden Street, nominating Port Adelaide as his ideal destination, despite only being there for one season.

Horne-Francis - who's been visibly frustrated - has struggled with the on and off field issues at the Kangaroos, especially since Alastair Clarkson has stepped down due to an ongoing investigation.

The Power are keen to land the young star, who is homesick.

Adelaide have put their interest forward but AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey believes that Horne-Francis would prefer to go to Alberton.

North Melbourne's list manager Brady Rawlings spoke on the potential trade, despite having one more year on his contract.

"Jason is contracted for next year, we've invested significantly in him as our first-ever No.1 pick just 12 months ago and we view him as a key part of the club's plans going forward," Rawlings said.

"We appreciate Jason's circumstances but at the same time we're determined to look after the best interests of North Melbourne."

Earlier in June, Horne-Francis was involved in a social media blunder which ironically saw him be traded to the Power.

Eagles want Jackson

Monday October 3

West Coast have stated their interest in signing Luke Jackson, who officially requested a trade to Western Australia away from Melbourne.

The 2021 Rising Star has been a big name in conversations in the last couple of months and Fremantle were reported to be the front runners.

However, the Eagles and list manager Rohan O'Brien have expressed their keen to bring Jackson in.

"We're keen to bring him in," O'Brien said.

"We'll just keep in contact with Luke and his management and Melbourne in particular to see what that looks like."

West Coast currently have pick two in the NAB AFL Draft and is open to splitting it to secure the Demon ruckman.

"We won't give up two in its entirety at this stage," he said.

"There's a whole range of things we can do. It might be split. That'll come down to Melbourne's expectations and whether we're prepared to look at that."

Kangaroos jumping at Saint Clark

Monday October 3

North Melbourne has stated significant interest in St Kilda's Hunter Clark, with the Saint falling out-of-favour toward the end of the season.

SEN journalist Sam Edmund believes that Clark is 'likely' to go to the Kangaroos ahead of the 2023 season, despite the Saints' reluctancy to let him go.

North Melbourne list boss Brady Rawlings set the record straight in terms of Clark.

“We’ve certainly had some discussions there,” Rawlings told AFL Trade Radio.

“We’ve got some real interest in Hunter as a player, but clearly he’s in contract, got another 12 months to go as the Saint.

“If they were willing to have a chat we’d certainly be willing to put something on the table for Hunter to get him across.”

Tarryn Thomas is on watch as trade request imminent

Monday October 3

North Melbourne's Tarryn Thomas could be expecting a trade request from Tarryn Thomas, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

“There is plenty of smoke around Tarryn Thomas,” Edmund said.

“He has been wrestling with requesting a trade out of North Melbourne himself.

“At the moment it hasn’t happened but that’s a live watch at North Melbourne considering everything that is going on then.”

Thomas is contracted until the end of 2024 but has been speculated to leave Arden Street earlier in the year amid personal difficulties.

AFL journalist Jon Ralph also reported that Gold Coast are keen on Thomas.

Carlton give updates on Dow, Acres and Jones compensation

Monday October 3

Carlton list manager Nick Austin has provided updates on Paddy Dow, Blake Acres, Liam Jones (compensation) and Will Setterfield, reports SEN.

The club expects the Acres deal to get done soon.

“We’ll catch up with Fremantle at some stage today and see where that goes,” Austin said.

“Blake comes to us as the big bodied experienced wingman that we’ve been looking for and he played some pretty impressive footy in the finals for them and he’ll add to our group straight away. He’s one that we’ll go after.”

Dow and Setterfield have started to explore their options, with both sitting in limbo.

“Paddy’s out there and looking to explore his options and get an opportunity,” Austin said.

“He’s a contracted player, but our midfield dynamic has changed enormously in the last 12 months and unfortunately for Paddy it has meant limited opportunities at the level.

“We’ll work with Paddy and his manager and we’ll see what opportunities are out there and see what we can do for him.”

“Will is out of contract. He’s a required player and we’d like to retain him, but he’s free to explore his options.”

Jones' compensation is yet to be confirmed but has been agreed upon by the AFL.

“We’re not sure, we’ll leave that to the AFL. The paperwork will go through and once they’ve got the contract, which we’re not privy to, we’ll wait for their formula and see what it spits out,” Austin said.

Bulldogs keen to get Jones, Lobb deals done

Monday October 3

The Western Bulldogs are hoping of securing Liam Jones and Rory Lobb during the AFL Trade Period, with the former likely signing on Monday.

Jones - who stepped away from the game due to vaccination mandates - will return to the club where it all began.

Bulldogs list boss Sam Power expects the deal to be done soon.

"We expect it (Liam Jones) to be lodged and signed up in the next 24 hours or so. He is really excited to come into the football club."

In terms of Lobb, Power understands that he is still contracted but will continue to discuss the potential trade for the forward.

"Rory indicated he would like to join us, clearly he is contracted, so we understand Fremantle's position there, his partner has moved to Victoria already. We will keep having chats with Freo, but at the same time we have other things we need to sort out too."

Taranto deal all-but-done

Monday October 3

GWS and Richmond have come to an "in-principle deal" to send Tim Taranto to Punt Road.

In exchange, the Giants will receive picks 12 and 19 and could happen on the first day of the AFL Trade Period.

The Age's Michael Gleeson stated that the two clubs met on Friday in Sydney to has out the terms.

"A source with knowledge of the discussions said the Giants and Richmond met in Sydney on Friday and agreed a deal after the out-of-contract Taranto had requested a trade to the Tigers," Gleeson said.

The Tigers are also into Hopper, but could struggled to broker a deal due to him having one more year on his contract.

The likely sum of the deals to move both players to the Tigers will be that Richmond give up 12, 19 and 30 in this year’s draft and their first-round pick next year," Gleeson said.

"There will probably be some movement of other, later picks involved in the final deals and potentially a Richmond player moving to the Giants."

Bedford the Giant?

Monday October 3

Melbourne's Toby Bedford has officially requested a trade to GWS, despite having a three-year deal in front of him.

Playing 16 games in 2022, Bedford looked to have found his groove in the senior side, but was excluded for the finals, creating speculation he may have fallen out of favour.

With Kysaiah Pickett, Charlie Spargo and Alex Neal-Bullen being picked before the 22-year-old, the Giants are likely to swoop in and steal the small forward as a replacement for Bobby Hill.

Is Kysaiah Pickett gettable?

Friday September 30

Melbourne small forward Kysaiah Pickett is contracted at the Demons until the end of 2023, but that hasn't stopped rival clubs showing their interest.

Port Adelaide have been one organisation in particular seemingly attempting to lure Pickett to South Australia, where he was drafted out of Woodville-West Torrens.

Former Brisbane and Power player Tom Rockliff believes that this potential move is being "[slept" on.

Rockliff believes there's a real possibility that Pickett could be seen in different colours in 2023.

No trade request from Mitchell, says Hawks

Friday September 30

Hawthorn has revealed that 2018 Brownlow Medalist Tom Mitchell hasn't requested a trade, despite strong links to Collingwood.

Hawks recruiting boss Mark McKenzie attempted to undermine the noise, saying Mitchell is "a contracted player," according to SEN.

“Really from this point, Tom’s a contracted player, there’s been no trade request or anything like that and that’s really where it sits at this point in time,” McKenzie said.

“We know there’s speculation going around here and there and we’ve gone through that for a few years now but that’s really where it sits.”

Hawthorn confirms interest in Bowes, Meek

Friday September 30

Hawthorn recruiting boss Mark McKenzie confirmed the club's interest in potential trade targets Lloyd Meek (Fremantle) and Jack Bowes (Gold Coast).

Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, McKenzie believes both players could add something to the club, while adding more youth to the already-developing young list out at Waverley.

Bowes would be a dynamic inclusion to the midfield, potentially joining Jai Newcombe and Josh Ward.

“There’ll be some interest in Jack from our point of view, that midfield area is important for us to find that right mix, and Jack brings a little bit different with the way he plays, so there’s definitely some interest from that point of view,” McKenzie said.

“(He’s) obviously the right age for our group coming through, the age demographic fits as well."

Speaking on the potential Meek acquisition, the Docker ruck would help bolster the Hawks' talls, after Ben McEvoy recently retired.

“Yeah there’s definitely some interest in Lloyd as happens every year with the ruck merry-go-round, but the bottom line is he’s a contracted player, so that sits with Fremantle from there,” McKenzie stated.

“We’ve got some interest and there might be some discussions over the next week and a half, but he’s a contracted player.”

Melbourne keen on two-first rounders for Jackson

Friday September 30

Melbourne are set on two first-round draft picks in compensation for Luke Jackson, who has requested a trade back to Western Australia, with Fremantle believed to be the favourite.

The Demons expect the Dockers to push up the draft order to secure the 2021 Rising Star, as they currently hold only pick 13.

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey says this deal could get complicated as both clubs will struggle to budge.

"The Demons are not prepared to add an extra pick to the deal, with the Dockers not keen to use an extra selection to move up the board," Twomey said.

"West Coast has also looked closely at Jackson and has the No.2 pick in the pre-season draft if a trade fell through, but the Eagles are not prepared to use their No.2 national draft selection in a direct deal for the 21-year-old."

Corbett on Essendon's radar

Friday September 30

Gold Coast's Josh Corbett has received interest from multiple clubs, as Essendon has recently joined the conversation.

The Bombers - who are in need of another key forward to help Peter Wright - are now looking at Corbett, as are Fremantle and Melbourne.

AFL.com.au's Riley Beveridge reported that Essendon likely to ramp up their activity in the trade period, having recently signed Brad Scott as the senior coach.

Corbett managed only 33 goals from his 36 games at the Suns and is looking for a fresh start, after falling second fiddle to Ben King, Mabior Chol and Levis Casboult.

De Goey re-signs with Collingwood

Friday September 30

Jordan De Goey has turned his back on rival clubs and exercising his free agency, inking a new five-year deal to make him a Magpie for life.

The decision came as the 2022 Free Agency Period opened, with St Kilda and Essendon circling for the match winner.

However, De Goey is now contracted to the end of 2027 at the AIA Centre, however, is under a behavioural microscope for the first two seasons (2023 and 2024).

His manager, Ryan Vague, also spoke to the potentially "arbitrary" clauses in the contract, saying De Goey will be treated like everybody else.

The biggest thing for Jordan (De Goey) and what we conveyed to the club is we weren’t going to have Jordan held to any standards above what is expected of any other player," Vague said.

“Jordan is still bound by the standards expected of an AFL player.”

Henry wants to join brother at Geelong

Friday September 30

Collingwood's Oliver Henry is reportedly keen on a trade to 2022 premiers Geelong, joining his older brother Jack in the process.

Henry, who impressed throughout the season, found himself in the VFL toward the end of the season and believes he could be squeezed out as Dan McStay is set to join the club as a free agent.

According to Herald Sun's Jay Clark, the Pies will seek a first-round pick for the youngster, as on Monday the 2022 AFL Trade Period begins.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes it could be a difficult deal to broker.

“That is a blow, albeit this is going to be a difficult negotiation for both clubs,” Edmund said.

“Given he’s a first-round draft pick, they will want a bit back in return Collingwood.”

Adelaide's take on Rankine discussions

Friday September 30

Adelaide's list manager Justin Reid believes the club will land Gold Coast's Izak Rankine, as discussions start to ramp up ahead of the AFL Trade Period.

Reid indicated that the Crows' current pick five could be used to help broker a deal, with the Suns likely to expect a fair compensation, according to AFL.com.au.

"I won't go into the detail, but obviously pick five is sitting there. We're just working through what that looks like. We'll catch up a bit more next week and work through that as we get closer to the deadline," Reid said.

"Obviously Izak is a priority. We want to get him into the football club and we'll work through that with Gold Coast. I won't go into specifics, but certainly pick five is a very good pick and we'll work through that together."

Should Dees try lure Georgiades?

Friday September 30

Former AFL player Josh Jenkins believes the 2021 premiers Melbourne should throw the kitchen sink at Port Adelaide's Mitch Georgiades, as the club longs for a presence up forward.

The Demons struggled to kick winning scores in 2022 and couldn't defend their recent premiership, being knocked out in straight sets.

Jenkins thinks Georgiades could offer something that Melbourne needs and has plenty of potential, according to SEN.

“Mitch Georgiades, go and present to him, convince him to take the meeting and say, ‘We’ve got big Max Gawn for first use, we’ve got ‘Clarry’ (Clayton Oliver) and we’ve got Christian (Petracca), we will get you that many opportunities to get your hands on the cherry it’s not funny," Jenkins said.

“I’ve got massive upside hopes for Georgiades, I think he can turn into one of not big marking forwards, but one of the better marking forwards in the game.

“He’s only 192cm, he’s not genuine key forward size, but he can jump on packs, in packs, over packs, he can stand on heads.

“What he can do, he can take a grab and he’s only going to get better and better, he generates a lot of shots on goal for a young forward."

Amon officially a Hawk

Friday September 30

Karl Amon is officially a Hawthorn player, signing as a free agent in the opening days of the period.

The former Port Adelaide player was long linked to a move back to Victoria, with the Hawks always front runners for some time.

Despite losing the damaging winger, the Power will receive pick 27 as compensation.

Gold Coast update on Rankine, Fiorini, Sharp

Friday September 30

Gold Coast's list manager Craig Cameron offered some insight into some of the movements at the club, ahead of the 2022 Trade and Free Agency Period, according to SEN.

The Suns are set to lose Izak Rankine to Adelaide, after the star forward requested a trade back to his home state.

“The number one thing for what we’re looking for is fair recompense for the loss of a player like Izak who we think has got a really good future in the AFL and someone who we’ve put four years of development into both on and off-field," Cameron said.

“So we feel it's important we get recompense for that development, not just the draft pick he was taken at.

“At the moment those discussions are progressing fairly."

Brayden Fiorini is another one Gold Coast is bound to lose, with the midfielder seeking more opportunities and likely to land at Collingwood.

“I think that’s a chance (he'll go to Collingwood), but again, that’ll be down to Brayden, he’s contemplating whether a move to Collingwood is the best thing for his career at the moment," Cameron said.

“I think that’s progressing, but he does have a contract with us, we’re happy for Brayden to play with us but we’re also understanding that if he thinks it’s an option for him that he can play more AFL footy and that we receive what we think is fair for that, then we’ll facilitate it."

Jeremy Sharp is another who's been starved of AFL football and could seek a trade in the coming days, despite being contracted.

“For us to move Jeremy we’d have to receive something in return that’s compelling.

“Nothing has moved very far on that at this stage, so I think it’s just a wait and see there.”

Clarkson investigation won't slow Logue's plans to Arden Street

Friday September 30

AFL player agent Colin Young believes the ongoing investigation of North Melbourne's newly appointed coach Alastair Clarkson won't slow down Griffin Logue's plans to join the club in the offseason, according to SEN.

“So, there’s been no change of tact (with Logue moving to North Melbourne) along the way,” Young said.

“I haven’t read anything about it but I’m sure I will in the next few days.

“It’s all alleged at this point in time, I’ve known Clarko for a long time and Fages and they’re two of the most outstanding blokes you could ever meet and work within the industry.

“But I’m confident that Clarko will probably be at the club come November 1 with a bit of luck, and probably Fages as well.”

St Kilda hopeful on De Goey decision

Thursday September 29

St Kilda is still hopeful of luring Collingwood free agent Jordan De Goey from the AIA Centre, as reports said he rejected an initial five-year deal.

Saints list boss James Gallagher announced that De Goey would "be an outstanding fit" at the club, according to Fox Sports.

“We‘ve had a number of conversations with Jordan and his management over a few months now. He’s got a big decision to make and the time’s coming pretty quickly for that decision,” Gallagher said.

“I anticipate in the next two or three days he‘ll make that call. That will shape a little bit about what we do over the next couple of weeks, but we think he’d be an outstanding fit for our footy club and our footy team. He’s an exceptional player, he’s a big-game player and he’s got plenty of footy in front of him.

Gunston nominates Lions

Thursday September 29

Hawthorn's Jack Gunston has nominated Brisbane as his next destination, as he hits free agency.

After 211 games and three premierships, Gunston's decision comes as the Hawks are in the middle of a rebuild with a flag well beyond their reach.

The former Crow's decision to go to the Lions follows fellow teammates Luke Hodge and Grant Birchall, who also finished their careers at the Gabba.

Brisbane are keen to replace Dan McStay, who is all but set to join Collingwood as a free agent.

Beveridge expects Brisbane to pay for 'glue' of Bulldogs

Thursday September 29

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge expects Brisbane to pay for Josh Dunkley, who was requested a move to the Lions.

Dunkley - who won the 2022 Charles Sutton Medal - previously attempted to trade away from the club, as the midfielder tried to get to Essendon for the 2021 season.

Beveridge spoke on Dunkley's situation, saying he is flat about him leaving.

“We’ve had a couple of conversations since and the most deflating one one was when he called me to let me know what the decision was,” Beveridge said.

“It’s a real shame. I describe Josh as the glue in our team. He does all the hard team things unconditionally and we’re going to need more of that from his former teammates next year.

“He’s a real diamond that we discovered and pinched from under Sydney’s nose all those years ago.

“The obvious thing is that the Lions are going to have to pony up."

Eagles closer on landing Hunt

Thursday September 29

West Coast has intensified their hunt of Melbourne speeder Jayden Hunt, with coach Adam Simpson reported to have met with him.

Hunt - who is an unrestricted free agent - played 21 games in 2022 after missing the drought-breaking premiership last year and is unsigned for the 2023.

According to 9 News Perth, the Eagles have shown their cards and are keen to add some speed into their line up, given the imminent retirement of Shannon Hurn.

7 News' Mitch Cleary gives updates on Mitchell, Bowes and Graham

Thursday September 29

7 News' Mitch Cleary has provided some trade updates on Tom Mitchell, Jack Bowes and JackGraham.

Cleary believes that Brodie Grundy's departure opens the door far and wide for Collingwood to acquire the 2018 Brownlow Medalist.

"If Grundy leaves, it opens the door for Tom Mitchell to come in. Mitchell's centre bounce attendances went from 70% to 50% and I think the Collingwood move marries up beautifully for both parties," Cleary said.

In regards to Gold Coast's Bowes, Geelong appears to be the front runners, as the premiers start to prepare for life after Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield, despite interest from rival clubs.

Cleary also thinks the potential-Graham move to Port Adelaide would suit nicely with the young midfield finding their feet.

"I think it would be a nice fit for the Power if they got Jack Graham. To fit in that midfield would be quite nice alongside guys like Conor Rozee."

Gunston, Dunkley still keen on Lions despite situation

Wednesday September 28

Josh Dunkley wants to make his way to Brisbane, despite the ongoing investigation in senior coach Chris Fagan.

“It definitely didn’t make me second guess. From what I’ve had to do with him so far in such little time, he’s such a good human being and someone that’s really cared for me already so I’m really looking forward to building that relationship with him," Dunkley said of Fagan.

Jack Gunston had a similar viewpoint, that the investigation will not impact his decision to exercise his free agency rights.

“Hopefully maybe in the coming days or early next week (I make a decision),” he said.

“Hopefully (Fagan) is still the coach of Brisbane Lions. But the sole purpose of me if I do choose to go there isn’t resting on Fages being coach or not.”

Graham meets with Port Adelaide

Wednesday September 28

Richmond's Jack Graham was spotted meeting up with Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley and football boss Chris Davies.

Graham - who is from Adelaide - has been a topic of conversation as a potential trade to the Power, given the Tigers are attempting to secure Giants duo Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper.

A two-time premiership player, the 24-year-old has slowly established himself as a primary midfielder for the future but reports have suggested he could be squeezed out.

Graham came second in Richmond's best-and-fairest in 2021 and is a valuable member of the club, according to veteran Jack Riewoldt.

Dees keen to keep Bedford

Wednesday September 28

Melbourne are keen to keep small forward Toby Bedford, despite a lot of interest.

Bedford is out of contract and has the Giants watching with a close eye.

SEN'Sam Edmund believes the Demons have nothing to worry about.

“He is still weighing up his options and Melbourne is confident that he is going to stay,” Edmund said on SEN Mornings.

“He is out of contract and has had a stack of interest, it must be said. I know the Giants are absolutely interested in a player like Toby Beford.”

Dockers looking at Corbett as replacement

Wednesday September 28

Out-of-favour Gold Coast Sun Josh Corbett is looking for regular game time, having found himself mainly in the VFL in 2022.

SEN's Sam Edmund reported that Corbett has met up with Fremantle and is keen to move clubs if he seems more opportunties.

“He has met with Fremantle and other clubs about a potential move,” Edmund said.

“He wants regular football and he’ll move to a club that gives him the best chance of doing that.”

Sydney eye off Bomber Francis

Wednesday September 28

Sydney have shown interest in out-of-favour Essendon defender Aaron Francis, who seems keen to find a new home.

With reports that Francis could return to his home state, South Australia, it is now reported that the Swans are keen to lure him north.

7 News' Mitch Cleary reported that the Bomber could be on the move early next week.

“Sydney has shown interest in Essendon’s Aaron Francis with discussions progressing. The Bombers are happy to facilitate a trade for the 25yo former first-rounder for a fresh start,” Cleary said.

“The Swans have been looking for some extra key back depth having also asked the question of (Fremantle’s) Griffin Logue.”

Essendon great says Weideman is on the move

Wednesday September 28

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd believes that Melbourne forward Sam Weideman will be on the move and could find a new club for 2023.

The former pick nine in 2015 has struggled to cement his spot in the side and missed out on the drought-breaking premiership in 2021, falling behind Ben Brown and Tom McDonald.

Weideman has played only 15 games in the past two seasons and will find it more difficult to play, especially given the imminent arrival of Brodie Grundy.

Grundy's acquisition will potentially move skipper Max Gawn more forward, while McDonald will return from his long-term injury in 2023.

Narkle with no more sparkle

Wednesday September 28

According to AFL.com.au, Geelong will not offer a new contract to Quinton Narkle beyond 2022.

Narkle struggled to gain ascendency in 2022, adding only eight games (three as medical sub) to his tally, which is likely to end at 41 for the Cats.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest in the past and could be scooped up by rival clubs who need a small midfielder/forward, like West Coast.

Brisbane joins Bowes race

Wednesday September 28

Brisbane have joined the very intriguing Jack Bowes race, with Gold Coast packaging their current pick seven to help get the deal done.

The Lions isn't the only club vying for Bowes (and top 10 pick) as Geelong, Hawthorn, Essendon and St Kilda have all expressed interest.

Given he is still contracted, the decision is in the 24-year-old's hands as the Suns try ease some salary cap pressure, according to AFL.com.au.

Suns eye off rivals fringe player

Wednesday September 28

Gold Coast are eyeing off Brisbane's Tom Berry in a bid to add some youth to their list.

The younger brother of Jarrod has struggled to play consistent senior football, managing only three games in 2022.

Out of contract, the Lions have offered a contract to retain Berry which remains unsigned, reports AFL.com.au.

De Goey rejects Collingwood offer

Tuesday September 27

Jordan De Goey has reportedly rejected a five-year offer from Collingwood, according to The Age’s Michael Gleeson.

De Goey performed superbly in the 2022 Finals Series, finishing third in the Gary Ayres Medal and looking like extending his time at the AIA Centre despite some off field indiscretions earlier in the year.

The 26-year-old has been much of the talk surrounding trade, with De Goey now an unrestricted free agent.

St Kilda have been heavily linked with the match winner, as Collingwood was unsure if they wanted to keep him.

Of the five-year contract, there is clauses related to his behaviour, which De Goey reportedly believes are "too broad and arbitrary."

Mitchell on his way to a third club?

Tuesday September 27

Collingwood is in the thick of things once again, only this time it is their pursuit of Hawthorn's Tom Mitchell.

The Hawks have been keen to offload some of their higher paid players, with Mitchell being one of them, despite having one more year on his contract.

According to 7 News's Mitch Cleary, the brown-and-gold are willing to chip in for his contract if the right deal can be struck with a rival side.

“Talks between the Magpies and Tom Mitchell’s management have ramped up since Mitchell returned home from Europe early last week,” Cleary said..

“Mitchell is keen on a move to the Pies, and the Pies want a centre clearance specialist, but they’ll need to open money.

Cats looking to secure Suns salary dump

Tuesday September 27

Gold Coast is set to ease some salary pressure, with Jack Bowes set to depart the club.

Bowes - who is on a heavily back-ended contract - is set to be paid $850,000 next year as Geelong is favourite to land the former top 10 pick.

SEN's Sam Edmund reported that there has been interest for the 24-year-old, who could be coupled with the Suns' pick seven in a bid to ease the bursting salary cap.

"Bowes is contracted until 2024, but will be among the departures at the Suns as part of a pay re-structure aimed at retaining its young core and making room for a star rival," Edmund said.

"Geelong is very interested and the favourite to land Bowes, but Gold Coast has a queue for the former No.10 draft pick ... which could see the premier end up with pick 7 in the deal.

"Geelong is very interested and the favourite to land Bowes, but Gold Coast has a queue for the former No.10 draft pick."

St Kilda, Hawthorn and Essendon all have interest in the half back.

Power update on key names

Tuesday September 27

Port Adelaide have their fingers in a few pies, with Junior Rioli being targeted by the club, while Jack Graham and Kysaiah Pickett have piqued interests, according to the Power GM Chris Davies.

Rioli has already requested a trade to the club, with Davies recognising his talent and spot in the side.

“If you’re looking at areas of our list that we left ourselves (in) short this year, clearly that high half-forward position is an area that I think is becoming more important," Davies said.

"Orazio Fantasia unable to get on the park, we left ourselves short in that position. We think that we’re going to be able to get Junior fit enough to play at AFL level."

Graham and Pickett, who being come from South Australia are not necessarily being courted by the Power but will be watched closely.

“We’ve got interest in South Australian players who might be interested in coming home, definitely,” Davies said.

“Jack is obviously a good player, I’m not sure where his situation is at with Richmond. Any player who is from South Australia who potentially wants to come back, we’ve got to take an interest in them."

In terms of Pickett: “‘Kozzie’ is contracted to Melbourne. That worked up a bit of a head of steam over the last couple of weeks, but he’s contracted to Melbourne and it’s reasonable to suggest that he’s going to be staying there next year,” Davies said.

Giant update on GWS quartet

Monday September 26

GWS list manager Jason McCartney gave insight into some departing players, mentioning the status of Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Bobby Hill and Tanner Bruhn.

Hopper and Taranto have already requested trades to Richmond, while Hill looks set to join Collingwood and Bruhn keen to get too Geelong.

Speaking on the two experienced midfielders (Taranto/Hopper), McCartney understands the position those players are on but wishes they wouldn't leave.

“It’s an interesting one to have two players of quality request to go to the same club,” McCartney said on AFL Trade Radio.

“Tim’s a bit different to Jacob because Jacob is in contract.

“Chatting with Blair Hartley and the Richmond guys and they understand the quality of these players and they understand it’s going to take a little bit of work with one still in contract. We’ll keep working through that.”

In regards to Bruhn, the Giants are disappointed that he's not keen to hang around.

“Obviously it’s disappointing. Tanner is a wonderful young man and invested really heavily in our football club," McCartney said.

“It is disappointing. It’s a reality. It looks like it is leaning that way with Geelong and we’ll sit down with Andrew Mackie and thrash out what we can get done there.

Hill is the fourth Giant who looks set to leave but GWS have given their blessing to the small forward and hope his health stays in a good space.

“Most importantly, he’s in a really good space. His health and wellbeing is the priority and it has been a challenging year for him,” McCartney said.

“I’ve been talking to Graham Wright for a week and a half, that’s something we’ll be able to facilitate and that will be something that would be done pretty early in the trade period and he will make his way to Collingwood.”

Lobb's manager provides inside to trade request

Monday September 26

Rory Lobb's named has circled around again for this year's trade period, with the Western Bulldogs being named as the desired destination.

Lobb's manager Colin Young provided insight to how a deal can get done, despite having one more year on his contract at Fremantle.

“I will be trying to work with Fremantle, naturally they’re going to say that (the trade is refused) because he has got one year to go, but they’ve been fully aware he was going to ask for the trade one week after the trade period last year," Young said.

“We know where it sits and we’re just hoping if Jackson goes to Fremantle there’s an opportunity where Rory can help Fremantle land Jackson by way of maybe picks that can help (in a trade).

“I’d like him to be (at the Western Bulldogs in 2023) and he wants to be there, we’ll just work with Fremantle to try and get it done."

The Dockers initially declined the request of Lobb to go to the Dogs as the club sees him as a key pillar of their forward line.

How a face-to-face (kind of) landing Logue at Arden Street

Monday September 26

Griffin Logue has expressed his intentions to be traded to North Melbourne, as his contract has ran up at Fremantle.

Colin Young (Logue's manager) said he's been in frequent contact with both clubs to assist in brokering a deal, with the majority believing Logue will be a Kangaroo in 2023.

“You imagine it would get done, he’s obviously out of contract … I’d expect that to get done," Young said.

“Basically, at the end of the day, Clarko got him over the line,” Young explained.

“He did have a chat to North Melbourne through the processes, and we felt at the time where Freo were going with Jackson that he had a chat with quite a few clubs.

“North Melbourne didn’t have a coach, and then all of the sudden Clarko got gig, he made the call on Zoom, and it was basically all over after that.”

Hunter no certainty at Dogs

Monday September 26

Lachie Hunter is no certainty to play at the Western Bulldogs in 2023, despite being contracted till the end of 2024.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that Hunter could be seeking a fresh start, which would be away from multiple off-field indiscretions that resulted in him taking personal leave from the club.

Playing only 10 games due to an array of reasons, the premiership Dog may look for a new opportunity to reinvigorate his career.

"It remains unclear whether the Dogs would – or could – engineer a trade," Edmund said.

Robinson hopeful of AFL lifeline

Monday September 26

Recently retired Mitch Robinson is hopeful that he'll receive an AFL lifeline, with the former Lion believing he still has more to give.

Robinson wasn't offered a new contract by Brisbane, which forced his hand.

Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, the 33-year-old said he's considering playing on.

“I think so... My mind and my body probably feel as good as it has ever felt," Robinson said.

“I had a few niggles earlier on in the year, but we got all of that settled towards the back end.

“I was playing some really good footy in the seniors and the VFL especially, I think I was averaging low-30 touches and a lot of clearances, I feel like I was impacting at that level.”

Grundy all set to join Melbourne in 2023

Sunday September 25

Speculation continues to grow over Collingwood's Brodie Grundy and where he will play next year.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that something drastic will have to happen to not see Grundy at Melbourne next year, with reports suggesting the move is club imposed.

“It’d take something extraordinary for it not to, all the pieces are in place," Edmund said.

“There won’t be an announcement or a nomination from Grundy, he doesn’t have to do that.

"But the trade will happen and there’ll be a sizable contribution from the Collingwood end, he has five years left at a million dollars a season.”

Collingwood ups offer to De Goey

Friday September 23

Collingwood has upped their offer to out-of-contract Jordan De Goey, with the club reported to have put a five-year deal on the table.

Amid strong interest from St Kilda, De Goey has been a topic of plenty of conversations as to where he'll play in 2023 and beyond.

Facing behavioural issues throughout his career, the Pies are sceptical of putting big money in front of the match winner and are working through tense negotiations surrounding his off field antics.

AFL.com.au said that De Goey is likely to stay at the AIA Centre but is currently working through the intricacies of the new contract.

McStay is McGoing

Friday September 23

Brisbane forward Daniel McStay has officially given word to the Lions that he'd like to explore his free agency rights, with Collingwood the likely destination for his services.

In a long-time coming, McStay's decision to depart Queensland hasn't come as a shock, even with good form in the finals.

The 29-year-old is bound for Victoria, returning for family reasons.

“Together, my partner and I, have decided to move back home to Melbourne. I wish the club every success and will be watching with a keen eye," McStay said in a club statement.

In 2022, Craig McRae's men struggled in clearance work and were comprehensively beaten at times throughout the year.

Gold Coast dangle top 10 pick

Friday September 23

Gold Coast is set to offer up their current pick seven in the 2022 National Draft as a sweetener in a potential Jack Bowes trade.

Bowes, who is contracted to the end of 2024, appears to be an item on the Suns' list to be offloaded.

The out-of-favour midfielder has a heavily back-ended deal, according to AFL.com.au and could be seen in new colours next year.

Essendon, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Geelong have all previously shown interest in Bowes and could be a part of a deal.

Hunt being hunted by rivals

Friday September 23

Melbourne defender Jayden Hunt could be on the move after receiving interest from West Coast, according to AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey.

Hunt - who is an unrestricted free agent - played 20 games in 2022 and is still without a contract for 2023 and beyond.

The Eagles are keen to bring in some experienced talent and wouldn't give anything up for the Demons given his free agency status.

Crows keen on Pie speedster

Friday September 23

Collingwood's Caleb Poulter has received interest from Adelaide, as the Crows try to lure the South Australian product back home.

Poulter, who has struggled to cement his spot in the senior side, has found himself in the VFL more often than not and could seek more opportunities elsewhere.

The 19-year-old played only one game in 2022 after 11 last year.

Jack Graham open to move

Wednesday September 21

Richmond midfielder Jack Graham would reportedly consider a move away from the club as the squeeze for spots continues.

Tuesday September 20

Brodie Grundy looks likely to swap Collingwood for Melbourne next season with Demons coach Simon Goodwin admitting interest in the star ruckman.

With the emergence of Darcy Cameron as the Magpies no.1 ruck in 2022, Collingwood appear happy to move the 28-year-old on - despite five years remaining on his contract.

Melbourne is set to lose Luke Jackson after the West Australian requested a trade back to his home state, with Demons coach Simon Goodwin revealing concrete interest in Grundy as a result.

“We wouldn’t have had these discussions if we didn’t think it would work. We’ve got some planning in and around that, we’ve spent some time analysing how that would look within our game system and style,” Goodwin said on AFL 360.

“We think it works for us as a team.

“We’ll go all out to fill that void that Luke Jackson is going to lose for us, and Brodie is one of those players we’re looking at ... we’ll get more information in the next couple of days, he’s a contracted player at Collingwood at the moment.”

Dunkley chooses Brisbane Lions

Monday September 19

Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley has nominated Brisbane Lions as the club he would like to move to for the 2023 season.

The 25-year-old had been weighing up offers from the Lions and Port Adelaide, while the Bulldogs had a five-year contract on the table.

Dunkley is out of contract and doesn't qualify for free agency, meaning the Lions will need to trade for the onballer.

The Lions will likely need to stump up at least a first-round pick for Dunkley, who led all Bulldogs in the Brownlow with 14 votes.

It is the second consecutive year Dunkley has requested a trade away from Whitten Oval, after missing out on a move to Essendon at the end of the 2021 campaign.

Lobb's trade request rejected by Dockers

Friday September 16

For the second year running, Rory Lobb has requested a trade out of Fremantle, with the club not coming to any agreeable terms with the Giants at the end of 2021.

With still a year remaining on his contract, Lobb will more than likely have to stay put for another season, as the Dockers are hellbent on holding him to his terms.

Football boss Peter Bell explained that Lobb's importance to the team's structure means the club is unwilling to trade for him and make him see out his contract.

“We had a conversation with Rory where we informed him that due to his contracted status and also the importance he has for our structure that we wouldn’t be able to facilitate a trade for Rory,” Bell said.

Fremantle football boss Peter Bell said the club will work to get compensated fairly, with Darcy Tucker and Rory Lobb other names seeking trades.

“In our discussion Griff stated that ‘it was the hardest decision he had ever had to make’ and that he loves the club and his teammates,” Bell said.

“He also communicated that he was very keen to ensure a positive result for all parties through the trade process.”

Essendon interested in running machine

Thursday September 15

Essendon have expressed interest in running machine Tom Phillips, who was recently delisted by Hawthorn.

Phillips was included in the Collingwood exodus at the end of 2020, with the club releasing Adam Treloar (Western Bulldogs) and Jaidyn Stephenson (North Melbourne).

The former Hawk struggled to cement his spot in the senior side but had proven to play excellent football on the wing for the Pies, especially during their 2018 run to the grand final.

The Bombers are keen on adding some running power on the outside to complement their strong midfield blend, with Phillips potentially being the perfect addition.

Meek informs Dockers of his exploration

Friday September 16

Lloyd Meek has informed Fremantle of his decision to explore his options and seek a trade, with the club almost certain to lock away Melbourne's Luke Jackson.

With Darcy and Lobb certain to stay along with the acquisition of Jackson, the 22-year-old seems to be squeezed out of the picture, hence his choice to be traded, according to AFL.com.au.

Port Adelaide launch campaign for Pickett

Friday September 16

Port Adelaide has launched an all-out attack for Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett, despite being contracted until the end of 2023.

Initially drafted out of South Australia, the Power believe they can pry Pickett out of the Demons, says veteran reported Michelangelo Rucci.

“Melbourne has got Luke Jackson out the door and at the other end of the clubhouse they’ve got Kozzie Pickett sitting there with Port Adelaide making all sorts of lures to him to get him,” Rucc said.

“I don’t know about ‘legitimate chance’ (to get Pickett this year) but I know there’s a legitimate campaign, they’re certainly trying, they haven’t stopped trying and they’re ramping it up.”

Port Adelaide are in the market for small forwards after losing Robbie Gray and Steven Motlop to retirement, while the club has made impressive inroads to securing West Coast's Junior Rioli.

Long since been linked to the Pies, AFL.com.au reported that the deal is as good as done, with the specifics to be organised during the Trade Period.

Eagles interested in Power duo that could unlock Rioli trade

The duo could be the pairing that unlocks the trade that see Rioli head to South Australia.

Collier-Dawkins on the radar for rival clubs

Thursday September 15

Richmond's Riley Collier-Dawkins has come flying into the radar of rival clubs, seeing that the Tigers are set to acquire GWS pair Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper.

The youngster has been starved of opportunities since being drafted at pick 20 in the 2018 National Draft and has played 11 games since.

However, Collier-Dawkins has shown strong VFL form across 2022 and could be a steal for opposition clubs, reported by AFL.com.au's Riley Beveridge.

Melbourne's asking price for Jackson revealed

Wednesday September 14

Reports have indicated that Melbourne have put forward an asking price of two first-round picks, with one to be high up the draft order.

Jackson was previously a number three pick in 2019 and has been a revelation in his 52 games thus far, with the 20-year-old showing plenty of attributes that could make him an elite ruckman.

Lobb to be held ransom if Dockers lose Logue

Wednesday September 14

As Rory Lobb is set to ask for a trade to the Western Bulldogs with one more year on his contract, Fremantle have been reported to hold the former Giants ransom, if swingman Griffin Logue decides to depart from the club.

Logue has attracted interest from Victorian clubs, including North Melbourne and Carlton and is set to leave the Dockers in the coming weeks.

However, this move from the 24-year-old could prevent Lobb from departing also.

Lobb to request trade to Kennel

Wednesday September 14

It is no surprise that Rory Lobb is bound to request a trade to the Western Bulldogs, seeing he's scheduled to have his exit meeting at Fremantle on Wednesday, according to AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey.

Lobb trade to leave the Dockers at the end of last year but a deal could not be brokered with his former side GWS.

Despite having one more year on his contract, it seems apparent that he will return to Victoria and join the Dogs at Whitten Oval.

The 29-year-old had his biggest season to date, kicking 36 goals from his 21 games and was pivotal at times throughout the year.

Rioli officially asks for trade to Port Adelaide

Wednesday September 14

Junior Rioli has officially asked a trade from West Coast to Port Adelaide, as the Eagles are disappointed with the outcome.

The club released a statement saying how they've supported Rioli and didn't think he'd repay the favour by asking to move clubs.

“We could not have done any more to support Junior since his infraction in 2019. We facilitated his appeal and subsequent return to football, so this decision is ‘bitterly disappointing," CEO Trevor Nisbett said.

“We will put that disappointment to one side now and work to arrange a suitable trade for a player who has high-end talent, is a premiership player and is in the prime of his career, having played just 51 games of senior football.

“Junior has made his decision and while he has indicated Port is his preferred destination we will work to get the best outcome for our club.”

Rioli's trade comes as the star forward seeks more financial security and a move closer to some family members.

Henry seeks trade to join brother at Geelong

Wednesday September 14

Collingwood's Ollie Henry is speculated to want to join Geelong in the offseason, realising that his spot in the senior side is in jeopardy, especially given the likelihood of Daniel McStay's arrival at the AIA Centre.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that Henry is set to request a trade to the Cats and join his brother, Jack, down the highway.

“Ollie Henry is the other one, he wants to get to Geelong now,” Edmund said.

“The Henry camp is worried about Dan McStay and (Bobby) Hill coming into that forward line.

“The contract offer from Collingwood didn’t wow them anyway, so all signs now point to the Cats where brother Jack is in his ear of course to get him down there.”

Geelong, who have pulled out of the race for Brodie Grundy and Jacob Hopper, their focus has turned to Henry and GWS' Tanner Bruhn.

“But, Tanner Bruhn nominated them and I expect Ollie Henry to do the same," Edmund said.

Long seeking a move up north

Grundy 'almost a certainty' to join Demons

Tuesday September 13

Following the suspected trade request from Luke Jackson to his home state, Western Australia, it has opened the door for Collingwood's Brodie Grundy to join Melbourne.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that "Grundy to Melbourne is almost a certainty now" as Jackson looks to Fremantle.

“The anticipation and expectation is that Luke Jackson will use his exit meeting to request a trade from Melbourne to Fremantle,” Edmund said.

“He’s been going to Fremantle since forever, let’s be honest. There had been a glimmer, a flicker, a murmur of hope out of Melbourne that perhaps they were going to get to keep their man after all.

“But that won’t be the case. This (potential Jackson trade) will act as a domino for a range of movement."

Power circling Pickett

Tuesday September 13

Port Adelaide has shown preliminary interest in Melbourne's Kysaiah Pickett, who was drafted from SANFL side Woodville-West Torrens.

Although Pickett hasn't shown any indication that he'd want to leave, the small forward is still contracted until the end of 2023.

However, SEN's Sam Edmund believes that the premiership small isn't in necessarily love with the Melbourne city but is enjoying his time at the Demons.

Eagles gunning for Georgiades

Tuesday September 13

Port Adelaide's Mitch Georgiades has yet to re-sign with the Power, amid speculation he'd like to return to his home state, Western Australia, despite being contracted for next year.

Saints in the dark over Hill

Tuesday September 13

Brad Hill has been linked to a move to North Melbourne, reuniting with former coach Alastair Clarkson.

However, SEN's Sam Edmund believes St Kilda is still in the dark with Hill's desires, despite being contracted at the club for another three seasons.

“The Saints are still, as of this morning, completely in the dark about Brad Hill’s intentions for next year. But the jungle drums continue to beat on a reunion for him and Alastair Clarkson at North Melbourne," Edmund said.

"He’s got two years to run on a five-year deal at the Saints, as we know, worth up around the $900,000 a year mark.

"North would be his fourth club, stints at Hawthorn, Fremantle and the Saints, so he’s been prepared to move clubs in the past, even in contract."

Frampton hints move away amid Pies interest

Tuesday September 13

Adelaide's Billy Frampton has hinted at a move away from the Crows after undergoing his exit interview on Tuesday.

Frampton told 10 News that he'd love to stay at Adelaide but a new environment could benefit his career.

“I love the boys, I love the place but for my career the best move might be to move on so we’ll see.”

West Coast could still be in the hunt for Jackson

Tuesday September 13

Melbourne's Luke Jackson is set to request a trade to Western Australia, with reports suggesting that Fremantle is in the lead for his signature.

However, if a deal cannot be struck between the Demons and Dockers, West Coast are still a chance at securing the 2021 Rising Star.

According to The Age, the Eagles are sitting well within the race for Jackson's services and could pull off a miracle if they choose to go down that path.

Both West Coast and Fremantle have tabled offers for the youngster, who is yet to inform teammates of his decision, says skipper Max Gawn.

“I’m looking forward to him telling me. he hasn’t told me yet," Gawn said.

“The club is still hopeful and there’s still a chance we can be a ruck combo for the next few years. But that’s the way footy is at the moment with the world we live in and free agency.”

Fremantle targeting young pair

Tuesday September 13

Amid speculation that Fremantle could lose half a dozen players to rival clubs, Ollie Henry and Jeremy Sharp have come up on their radar to help fill the void, according to SEN's WA Kim Hagdorn.

"Fremantle has got to go and get a gun key forward or a smaller marking forward and keep a Sam Sturt and play him, or bring someone in," Hagdorn said.

“Now I do understand that Fremantle are considering Oliver Henry from Collingwood. He kicked four goals against Fremantle in the wet.

“Fremantle are considering and are in some negotiations to try and lure Ollie Henry away from Collingwood.

“The other one I think Fremantle is looking at is Jeremy Sharp from Gold Coast. He’s 21, played 24 games, he could be a Blake Acres replacement on the outside with a bit of pace.”

Dunkley's decision down to two

Monday September 12

Western Bulldog's Josh Dunkley has been reported to be weighing up between two interstate sides, with Port Adelaide and Brisbane vying for his signature.

As time and silence goes on, it appears Dunkley will be playing elsewhere in 2023, while Channel 7's Mitch Cleary believes the Lions are a sneaky chance.

The Power and Bulldogs' season has been over for at least a week, with the Lions still in the hunt for premiership glory.

Cleary thinks that if Dunkley doesn't make his decision soon, Brisbane will be the frontrunner.

“But the Dogs have been out (of the finals) now for a week. The Power have been out since the end of the (home-and-away) season.

“My theory on this one is if he doesn’t announce Port Adelaide in the next seven days, he’s more likely to go to Brisbane.

“If (Dunkley) doesn’t announce Port this week, I think Brisbane come into favouritism on that one.”

Bruhn nominates desired club

Monday September 12

Wantaway youngster Tanner Bruhn has nominated his club of choice, as Hawthorn, Geelong and North Melbourne were circling.

Bruhn has reportedly chosen the Cats, who are about to play off in a preliminary final.

The 20-year-old has been keen to return to his home state, Victoria and has been linked with Geelong for quite some time.

The Giants, who will be heavily involved in this year's trade period, will most likely demand a first round selection for Bruhn, seeing that's what they gave up to secure him two years ago.

Monday September 12

Following a disappointing semi final loss to Collingwood by 20 points, Fremantle now turn their heads to the offseason, with the club expected to see plenty of movement.

Lobb seems poised to be joined by Lloyd Meek, Darcy Tucker, Griffin Logue, Blake Acres and newly-announced Liam Henry.

Logue (North Melbourne), Acres (Carlton), Tucker and Lobb (Western Bulldogs) seem like they're going to request moves to Victoria at various clubs, while Meek has been linked to GWS.

Henry managed to play only seven games in 2022 and falling second fiddle to Michael Walters and Michael Frederick in the forward line and could seek opportunities elsewhere, reports Herald Sun.

Yze 'favourite' for Essendon job

Monday September 12

Adam Yze appears to be favourite for the Essendon coaching role, with the club expected to rush the process to get a coach in before the trade period.

Yze missed out on multiple jobs over the past few seasons, but is expected to finally get a call up.

Channel 7's Mitch Cleary believes that the former Melbourne player is the "favourite" to lead the Bombers from 2023 onwards.

“They want a coach in place before the trade period,” Cleary said.

“It’s hard to attract players without a coach. They are going to have to rush this process.

“I think Adem Yze is my favourite.

“He’s got links to Jordan Lewis, who is on the panel to find the coach, and Josh Mahoney, who is leading the panel. He’s spent time with both of those previously.

“He’s going to meet with them this week. He’s favourite, but still not ruling out Ken Hinkley.”

Giants to play hard ball for midfield pair

Monday September 12

GWS pair Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper have both announced their desires to join Richmond for 2023 and beyond, with reports saying there's seven-year deals been put in front of both of them.

The club has likened the move by Hopper to that of Dylan Shiel and Jeremy Cameron in recent years, with GWS securing multiple high-end draft picks.

Hannebery not done yet?

Monday September 12

Recently retired Saint Dan Hannebery hasn't ruled out a surprise AFL return, despite playing only 18 games in four seasons.

AFL reporter Damien Barrett believes there is still some interest in the former Swan, who is still only 31 years old.

“To be honest, I’m not too sure. It’s been a tough four years, both mentally and physically,” Hannebery said on Channel Nine.

“We put a lot of work in, but I felt we got it right at the end there. I haven’t really spoken too much to my manager about it or thought too much about it.

“I’d have to think about it, but at this stage, the body feels pretty good."

Geelong hunting young duo

Monday September 12

Geelong is putting in their bids to secure youngsters Ollie Henry and Tanner Bruhn in attempt to rejuvenate their ageing list for the future.

With the clubs essentially missing out on Hopper, they've now begun to look elsewhere, reported by journalist Mitch Cleary.

Bruhn has also displayed his talent at times and is seeking a trade to his home state, Victoria.

Lions, Cats fight for Irish speedster

Monday September 12

Brisbane, Geelong are set to battle for the signature of former Essendon player Connor McKenna, who initially retired and returned back to Ireland.

McKenna has announced his desire to return to Australia and continue his football career, according to the Herald Sun.

The Irishman was a dashing half back that injected speed and dare into the Bomber line up and would suit the way both the Lions and Cats play, as both clubs will most likely have to wait for the supplemental selection period.

Dunkley likely to depart Whitten Oval

Friday September 9

Josh Dunkley's time at the Western Bulldogs seems all but over, with club expecting the midfielder to request a trade.

Port Adelaide and Brisbane seem to be the front runners for Dunkley, but the likelihood of his departure could see other sides put their hat in the ring.

However, it appears that the financial side of things isn't intriguing the midfielder, but more the prospect of a new environment.

The Power have been heavily linked to Dunkley due to his partner playing Super Netball in Adelaide, according to the Herald Sun.

Hawthorn to wait on Gunston call

Friday September 9

Hawthorn are happy to wait on Jack Gunston, as the forward weighs up his future amid strong interest from Brisbane.

Gunston proved to still be valuable in front of the big sticks, slotting 17 majors in his past five games.

The Lions are keen to replace the departing Daniel McStay, who seems bound for Collingwood.

However, the Hawks are keen to keep their goal kicker, but have put Tom Mitchell and Chad Wingard forward as potential trade options, according to the Herald Sun.

Fremantle foursome expected to request trades

Friday September 9

Blake Acres, Rory Lobb, Lloyd Meek and Griffin Logue all seem poised to request a trade at season's end, with Fremantle unable to retain the quartet.

Journalist Kim Hagdorn believes all four Dockers are as good as gone, with the club needing to broker deals with rival sides.

“Once Fremantle has played their last game, Rory Lobb, Blake Acres, Griffin Logue and Lloyd Meek are all expected to ask for trades,” Hadgdorn said.

“It’s tight-lipped at the moment because the understanding amongst those players and their agents and Fremantle is, ‘let’s just shut up about it and try and win a semi final, win a prelim, get into a Grand Final and see what can happen then.

“I think you’ll even find some scurrilous speculation that some of these boys are going to stay at Fremantle now because I think Fremantle is trying their darndest to keep it under wraps until (their season finishes).”

Delisted Blue meets with Bombers

Friday September 9

Delisted Blue Liam Stocker has reportedly met with Essendon in a bid for an AFL lifeline, according to 7News's Mitch Cleary.

Stocker's surprising sacking from Carlton has fans and footy followers confused, with the 22-year-old not getting much opportunity at the elite level.

The first round draft pick in 2018 only managed to put together six games in 2022, despite showing strong form in the VFL.

Known as a midfielder, Stocker has fallen second-fiddle to Sam Walsh and Patrick Cripps, while the acquisition of George Hewett and Adam Cerra has only harmed his cause.

Collingwood announce another target

Friday September 9

Collingwood have once again announced their interest in a rival club's player, with Gold Coast's Brayden Fiorini on their radar.

Fiorini has struggled to break into the senior side under Stuart Dew, playing 29 games in the past three seasons, despite dominating in the VFL.

The Pies are keen to add to their exciting midfield, consisting of the Daicos brothers, Jack Crisp, Taylor Adams and Jordan De Goey.

Fiorini does have one more year left on his contract, but could seek more opportunities elsewhere.

Port Adelaide meet with Essendon local

Friday September 9

Port Adelaide have sounded out their interest for Essendon's Aaron Francis, but has been alerted that he is not on top of the priority list.

Franics - who was taken with pick six in the 2015 Draft - is reportedly keen to explore a trade elsewhere, with the potential to move back to his home state of South Australia appealing.

The Power are up in the necks with Josh Dunkley and Junior Rioli, but also have the Bomber on their cards if a deal can be struck, according to Fox Sports.

Hopper selects desired club

Thursday September 8

GWS' Jacob Hopper has reported to have elected a rival club in his pursuit to return to his home state, Victoria, where he boarded school.

According to journalist Sam McClure, Hopper has opted to go with Richmond over Geelong, with the Tigers up to their necks for the bullocking midfielder.

Richmond have already agreed to a deal with teammate Tim Taranto, but now have their sights set on the 25-year-old.

Jackson firms for Fremantle

Thursday September 8

In the eve of Melbourne's semi final against Brisbane, journalist Sam McClure believes that Luke Jackson has "basically committed" to Fremantle, with rumours circulating since earlier this year.

Jackson - who was the 2021 Rising Star - was a key part of the Demons' premiership success and could still play a big role in their bid to go back-to-back.

“He’s basically committed to them on a long-term deal, which I believe to be seven years,” McClure told Channel 9’s Footy Classified.

“There have been people at Melbourne, even this week, that think he could change his mind. But I’d be ready to take that to the bank that he’ll be a Fremantle player by the end of the trade period.”

Smooth moving Saint on radar for rival clubs

Thursday September 8

St Kilda's Hunter Clark is reported to be on the radar of rival clubs, despite being contracted until the end of 2023, according to AFL.com.au.

Clark has only played 21 games in the past two seasons due to multiple injuries and has struggled to showcase his top 10 talent.

Playing through the midfield and half back, the 23-year-old has impressed across both positions but has struggled to lock down either position.

Cal Twomey said that clubs will be keeping an eye on Clark and the potential to trade for him.

“(Clark is) expected to be a trade target for clubs this off-season,” Twomey said.

“Clubs see him as a name to watch in this year’s trade period, he’s still only 23, a top 10 pick in 2017."

Soldo part of trade coup?

Thursday September 8

Ivan Soldo could be included in a trade that sees Richmond get Jacob Hopper to Punt Road.

With Tim Taranto all but certain to join the Tigers in the offseason, Hopper is another target on the list and Soldo could help broker that trade.

The Giant is still contracted to the end of 2023, but has reportedly expressed his desire to return to his home state, Victoria, with Geelong also seeming interested.

Richmond's ruckman has struggled to lockdown a position in the senior side and would be a walk up at GWS, according to Fox Sports.

Gold Coast up ante for Saint

Thursday September 8

St Kilda's Ben Long is weighing up his future, with Gold Coast joining North Melbourne in their attempt to pry the speedy half back for Moorabbin.

Out-of-contract from 2023 onwards, the Suns have shown interest in the versatile player and could be seen in new colours, according to journalist Cal Twomey.

Long played 19 games in 2022 and looked to cement his spot in the side, but may look for more stable opportunities, seeing he's only tallied 79 games since 2017.

GWS show interest in Docker big man

Thursday September 8

Lloyd Meek has found himself gathering interest from the Giants, despite remaining under contract.

Meek has found himself out of favour under Justin Longmuir, playing only six games in 2022 as Sean Darcy and Rory Lobb have been selected before him.

With the likely arrival of Melbourne's Luke Jackson, Meek's chances of playing go from slim to nearly none, which GWS have recognised, as well as West Coast and Melbourne, according to AFL.com.au.

Port eyes off fringe Cat

Thursday September 8

Geelong's Franics Evans appears to be on the radar of Port Adelaide, who are also in the market for Josh Dunkley and Junior Rioli.

Evans, whose played seven games in two seasons, has struggled to break into the side since being drafted with pick 41 in 2019.

Due to the retirement of Robbie Gray and Steven Motlop, the Power have been keen to replace those stars with some small forwards, with Rioli all but ready to join the South Australian side, reported on Fox Sports.

Giants set for big asking price for Taranto

Wednesday September 7

GWS are preparing to ask for two first round picks, as Richmond are set to snag Tim Taranto in the offseason.

The Tigers are currently armed with picks 12, 19 and 30 in this year's national draft, with the two first-rounders expected to get the deal done for Taranto.

However, given their interest in Jacob Hopper - who the Giants seem poised to ask for a top 10 pick - it may stretch the boys at Punt Road too far.

Sam Edmund believe Geelong is well and truly in the hunt for Hopper but will be complicated by the Jeremy Cameron move two seasons ago.

Thomas still weighing up his future at Arden Street

Wednesday September 7

Tarryn Thomas is supposedly weighing up his future at North Melbourne beyond 2022, with a potential move up to the Gold Coast on the cards.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that Thomas is one to watch, although being contracted.

"There’s just one other player I want to mention and it’s Tarryn Thomas. Perhaps just one to keep an eye on,” Edmund said.

“I know we reported recently he was gettable a couple of months ago and Gold Coast were interested and they’d gone a fair way down the track, there’d been discussions about him being traded up there.

"I’d close the door on the Suns. But there are just some murmurings that there could still be a twist here."

Bruhn as good as gone

Wednesday September 7

GWS' Tanner Bruhn is as good as gone from the club, with those close to him reporting he will seek a trade elsewhere, according to RSN 927.

Wanting to return to his home state, Victoria, Bruhn has met with Alastair Clarkson and North Melbourne, while Hawthorn and Geelong have been in the mix also.

Journalist Mark Stevens explained on radio of the 20-year-old's desires.

“Tanner Bruhn is in Melbourne at the moment … Geelong and North are interested in him,” Stevens told RSN Breakfast Club.

“He’s 100 per cent gone – in fact he’s told people that. So it’s just a matter of where.

“He’s definitely out at GWS.”

Saints circling Hawthorn defender

Wednesday September 7

St Kilda has been looking at Hawthorn key defender Kyle Hartigan.

Mark Stevens on RSN 927 believes the ex-Crow is an option for the Saints going forward.

“Kyle Hartigan hasn’t got a deal at Hawthorn. St Kilda, I believe, are interested in perhaps a two-year deal for Hartigan. They’re looking to beef-up their key defensive stocks.

“He’s a free agent, so I think he’ll be at another club next year. If that’s the case, he could be down at Moorabbin because I think he’s run his race at Hawthorn because (Sam) Mitchell’s had an opportunity to play him.”

Melbourne the 'raging favourite' for Grundy

Tuesday September 6

Melbourne is reported to be the 'raging favourite' for the services of Collingwood's Brodie Grundy, as the Pies are looking to offload some salary cap pressure.

Jon Ralph reported that the Demons, who expect to lose Luke Jackson to Fremantle, will sign Grundy in the offseason.

“Melbourne is the raging favourite (for Grundy). The expectation is that they will get there,” Ralph said on Fox Footy’s On the Couch.

“Collingwood’s position is that they expect him to leave, now if it is that he stays, that’s OK - that may impact some of their other issues trying to get in the likes of (Dan) McStay, Bobby Hill and (Billy) Frampton from Adelaide.

Collingwood set to put deal on table for De Goey

Tuesday September 6

Collingwood is to believed to put the pre-Bali incident deal back on the table, with the club adding some behavioural clauses to ensure they're well protected, according to leading journalist Jon Ralph.

The Pies is set to offer $3.2 million over four seasons, locking him away until 2026, all being that things go smoothly.

De Goey was one of Collingwood's best in the six-point loss to Geelong and has proven to be a match winner at times throughout the year.

Richmond to pull of Giant steal

Tuesday September 6

Damien Hardwick and Richmond have admitted to meeting with wantaway GWS player Jacob Hopper, who looked all but off to Geelong.

Hardwick suggested that the Tigers are well and truly in the hunt for the bullocking midfielder, although they've essentially locked away teammate Tim Taranto.

“We did meet with Jacob Hopper. He is a quality player. He wants to come home. And we are hoping to facilitate that for him,” Hardwick said.

The club is expected to reduce the contracts of veterans Jack Riewoldt and Trent Cotchin in hope to offer some salary cap space, while Shane Edwards' retirement also frees up some money for the Tigers.

Dockers unlikely to keep Logue

Griffin Logue has had rival clubs circling for some time now, with Fremantle hoping to keep the swingman beyond 2022.

However, reports have indicated that the Dockers have upped their offer to $500,000, but the Herald Sun believes it won't be enough.

North Melbourne are well and truly in the hunt for Logue but there's plenty to play out.

Junior Rioli off to South Australia?

Tuesday September 6

West Coast's Junior Rioli is believed to ask for a trade to Port Adelaide, with the Power in the hot seat to sign the goal sneak.

AFL.com.au reported that Rioli is yet to decide where he wants to play beyond 2022, but is hopeful of securing a long-term deal that offers some stability.

"Hopefully, we'll see how we go (and) if my manager can look after me and work out a good thing," Rioli said on Nine News.

"If I could set myself up for the rest of my life, that's all I want to do.

"I've been through too much in the last 18 months, so I just want to make the most of being in the industry I am now."

Essendon joins race for De Goey's signature

Monday September 5

According to the Herald Sun, the Bombers have quietly entered the race for Collingwood's Jordan De Goey, despite speculation he is staying put at the Pies.

A presentation has been put forward for the star midfielder, including using Jake Stringer and other senior players to lure the free agent from the AIA Centre.

De Goey was formidable in the first final against Geelong, kicking two goals from his 26 touches and looking like putting his side into a home preliminary final.

The 26-year-old has proven himself on the big stage, with his only downfall being the off-field behaviours, something Essendon may believe they could turn around.

Taranto set to sign massive long-term deal at Punt Road

Monday September 5

Out-of-contract GWS star Tim Taranto is poised to sign a seven-year deal with Richmond, worth around $750,000.

Taranto has been one of the bigger names this off-season looking to play at a rival club, given the Giants are in the midst of a restructure, with players and coaches seeking other opportunities.

The Tigers is a perfect suitor for the 24-year-old, who will join a young midfield brigade consisting of Shai Bolton, Jack Ross, Jack Graham while potentially replacing the more experienced players in recent years such as Trent Cotchin and Dion Prestia.

Cats likely to get their man

Monday September 5

Following an enthralling win that booked Geelong a home preliminary final, Jacob Hopper seems poised to make the switch from GWS.

AFL journalist Damien Barrett believes that Hopper will likely make the move to the Cats, despite having one more year on his contract.

“They are still a mess the Giants when it comes to the salary cap,” Barrett told The Sunday Footy Show.

“Jacob Hopper is contracted for 2023, but the Cats have done a lot of work behind the scenes to get him to want to go to Geelong.

“While he is contracted for the Giants, I expect him to be playing for the Cats next year.”

Suns put offer to Johannisen

Monday September 5

Gold Coast have reportedly put a deal on the table for Western Bulldog's Jason Johannisen, as he enters free agency.

7 News journalist Mitch Cleary believes that the Suns have put forward a three-year deal, asking the question of the 2016 Norm Smith Medalist.

“Jason Johannisen is being courted by Gold Coast,” Cleary said on Seven.

“I understand a three-year deal has been put on the table from the Suns for Jason Johannisen.

Power to up ante for Dunkley

Monday September 5

Port Adelaide are set to offer a first round pick for Just Dunkley to lure him out of the Western Bulldogs, according to Fox Sports.

Now the Dogs' 2022 season has finished after a heartbreaking loss to Fremantle, despite leading by 41 points, speculation will now intensify over Dunkley's future.

As reports have shown, the Power weren't the only ones interested in the 25-year-old, with Brisbane throwing their hat in the ring.

However, it seems that Port Adelaide's offer, combined with Tippah Dwan (Dunkley's partner and Adelaide Thunderbirds player) could be a winning blend to get Dunkley over the line.

Coach Luke Beveridge spoke on whether Dunkley will stay post game on Saturday night.

“We’re desperate; we hope Josh is going to stay. But I can’t tell you whether he is or whether he isn’t,” Beveridge said.

“I can tell you absolutely that the relationships are really strong. If there is a reason to leave the club, it might be for opportunity and the short lifespan of an AFL footy, you have to make hay financially as much as you can, and we understand that."

All Tucker-ed out at Fremantle

Monday September 5

Fremantle's Darcy Tucker looks to be on the move, with North Melbourne looking likely to snare the midfield/forward.

Although Essendon have put their name forward, Tom Browne reports that Alastair Clarkson had something to do with the Kangaroos having their noses in front.

Big Cat on Giants radar

Monday September 5

Esava Ratugolea has been listed as a potential target for GWS, despite being contracted at the Cats for another season.

Ratugolea has struggled to break into the minor premiers' side in 2022 and has looked at moving down back to add versatility to his game.

Sam Edmund on SEN's Crunch Time said the out-of-favour forward is "one to watch".

“He’s a chance of making it as a defender elsewhere I reckon … a switch back to an athletic interceptor, he’s showed what he might be able to do at that part of the ground,” Edmund told Crunch Time.

I wonder now whether enough water has gone under the bridge where Esava will be looking just to play football, to be honest, he’s been frozen out at Geelong with the depth they’ve got there.”

Suns keeping an eye on Martin

Friday September 2

Richmond superstar Dustin Martin looms as a potential target for the Gold Coast, as speculation grows over his future at Punt Road.

Following a heartbreaking loss to Brisbane in the elimination final, all attention will point at Martin, as the footy world awaits to hear his decision, despite being contracted for another two years.

Journalist Jon Ralph has stated that the club and the people around the 2017 Brownlow Medalist believes he'll stay, but the Suns are an option.

“But - and it is a big but - if it was that he wanted to go to a club like Gold Coast, I believe they’d be a suitor for him.

"I think they feel like if he wanted to leave the fish bowl, they certainly have the picks, they have the salary cap room, they’d have to shuffle some things around.

Grundy has a decision to make

Friday September 2

Aside from Collingwood, Brodie Grundy's suitors have come down to just one, the 2021 premiers, Melbourne, according to the Herald Sun.

After Geelong and Port Adelaide recently pulled out of the race due to Grundy's desire to remain in Victoria, it seems like the Demons are in the box seat to secure the two-time All-Australian, if he leaves the Pies.

It is common knowledge that Collingwood have some very tough salary cap decisions to make, especially with the inevitable arrival of Dan McStay, Bobby Hill and Billy Frampton from rival clubs.

If Grundy were to leave the club, it'd open up their list to a more balanced outlook while giving them more opportunity to play other players.

Carlton McKay being watched carefully by rivals

Friday September 2

Carlton's Harry McKay comes out of contract at the end of 2023, but that hasn't stopped Essendon and North Melbourne keeping an eye on the 2021 Coleman Medalist.

Despite the likelihood that McKay resigns with the Blues, rival clubs would want to snare the full forward out of IKON Park if there is a chance to do so, according to Zero Hanger.

Kicking 45 goals in 2022 to go with his 58 last year, the 24-year-old is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with.

The Kangaroos would love to unite the McKay brothers at Arden Street, with no doubt that Alastair Clarkson will make a play if he's deemed gettable.

Clarkson adds more targets to wish list

Friday September 2

North Melbourne's coach Alastair Clarkson has added another target on his list of players he wants to lure to Arden Street.

GWS' Tanner Bruhn is now on the radar of Clarkson, with reports leading to believe the Giant wants to return to Victoria.

Bruhn is yet to renew his contract at GWS and is on the radar for multiple clubs, according to The Age.

Fremantle's Griffin Logue is the another name that the Kangaroos are set to pounce on.

Logue has been reported to be weighing up an offer from the Docker or explore his stocks at rival clubs, according to AFL.com.au.

The 24-year-old would fit in perfectly to North Melbourne's backline along with Ben McKay and Aidan Corr, as the club looks to rebuild.

Brownlow Medalist Mitchell to explore rival clubs

Thursday September 1

Hawthorn is considering letting go Tom Mitchell in a bid to rejuvenate a young list by bringing in some youth to assist in the rebuild.

Collingwood, who have been in the market for multiple players including Tim Taranto, haven't formerly expressed interest but are looking at the 2018 Brownlow Medalist.

The Herald Sun reported that Mitchell could be worth a pick 30 from the Pies, as the club looks to bolster their contested possession strength.

Clarkson approaches trifecta of players

Thursday September 1

Shortly after signing with North Melbourne, new coach Alastair Clarkson has reportedly expressed interest in three rival players, according to The Age.

St Kilda pair Brad Hill and Ben Long have been named as potential targets for the Kangaroos while West Coast's Junior Rioli appears to have another suitor.

Bomber duo looking for fresh starts

Thursday September 1

Essendon's Aaron Francis is understood to be seeking a fresh start, after a tumultuous season at Tullamarine, which resulted in only four matches this year.

Being deployed across the entire ground, Francis has struggled to cement a spot in the Bomber's lineup and AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey believes he could be on the move.

“He’s looking for a fresh start,” Twomey said on SEN Breakfast.

“He’s going to seek a trade this off-season, not just back to South Australia, where he’s from, he’s open to anywhere if it pops up."

Teammate Brayden Ham, who's played 45 games in four seasons, is another Bomber who could be playing elsewhere in 2023, with the youngster attracting interest.

Taranto set for Punt Road

Wednesday August 31

Out-of-contract star Tim Taranto is set to make his move, with reports believing it's between Collingwood and Richmond.

However, given the likelihood of other players heading to the AIA Centre, it seems the Tigers are the front runners for Taranto's services and the announcement could be imminent on what his future looks like, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

“Should he leave GWS - an announcement is surely imminent on that - is bound for Richmond," Edmund said.

Is Dunkley coming or going?

Wednesday August 31

SEN's Sam Edmund is struggling to put his finger on where Josh Dunkley will land in 2023, after the midfielder has expressed interest in playing elsewhere in the past.

At the moment, Brisbane and Port Adelaide have offered Dunkley a deal at their respective clubs, with the latter's being more of a financial temptation.

Edmund believes the Western Bulldogs are still in the hunt, despite him not re-signing.

“From their (the Western Bulldogs’) mind, they’re as comfortable as you can be when a key player hasn’t re-signed," Edmund said.

“The Brisbane offer is close to comparable for Josh Dunkley, it’s not like Brisbane have blown the Dogs off the water.

“But the Port Adelaide offer, however, is a better one financially, that’s the superior offer and that’s the temptation.

Collingwood preparing for big off-season

Wednesday August 31

Collingwood is preparing to be a big player in this year's off-season, with plenty of players from rival clubs linked to the Pies.

Brisbane's Daniel McStay is reportedly as good as gone, while GWS' Bobby Hilly looks set to join him.

A third name, Adelaide's Billy Frampton is apparently "over the line", given the Crow is seeking more senior minutes, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

“Collingwood are bringing in Dan McStay, but Billy Frampton I’m told is basically over the line at Collingwood.

“He will come in from Adelaide, Bobby Hill as well, barring any late hiccups.

“You can see what Collingwood is trying to do to better balance that list.”

Fremantle's Tucker gaining interest from Victorian club

Wednesday August 31

Fremantle's Darcy Tucker is gaining interest from rival clubs, with Essendon reported to be interested in the midfielder.

Struggling to break into the Docker side consisting of Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong and David Mundy, Tucker has taken a backseat and at times played out of position.

Despite being contracted, the Bombers have put him on notice as a potential target in the off-season.

“He’s definitely been discussed at rival clubs and raised at rival clubs.

“I know Essendon have been one of those and that’s been reported.

“He is contracted but has some real interest from over this side of the country where we are (in Victoria).

Favourite emerges in race for Grundy

Wednesday August 31

Port Adelaide have been reported to pull out of the race for Brodie Grundy, despite speculation they were willing to make a play for the two-time All-Australian, according to the Herald Sun.

Grundy spoke to the Power nearing a month ago and expressed his desire to remain in Victoria, whether that be at Collingwood or another team.

Despite the 28-year-old's interest in returning to South Australia back in 2019, it seems that the ruckman is settled in his current state.

Geelong keeping tabs on younger Henry

Wednesday August 31

Collingwood and Oliver Henry's contract talks have been underway for some time, but are struggling to come to an agreement, as Geelong is keeping their eye on him.

The 20-year-old has showed plenty of promise so far in 2022, despite falling out-of-favour due to mid-season recruit Ash Johnson's incredible form.

The Cats are monitoring the progress of Henry, who may also believe a uniting with his older brother could be a potential selling point if negotiations were to get under way with a rival club, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Gold Coast Corbett on radar

Wednesday August 31

Fremantle has shown interest in Gold Coast forward Josh Corbett, who hasn't been in the senior side since round six.

Corbett's form in the VFL has raised some eyebrows and could be a replacement for Rory Lobb if he does end up leaving the Dockers.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes that there could be a few clubs going after the 26-year-old.

“We’ll see what happens with Josh Corbett, who might be a bargain pick-up for a club," Edmund said.

Power closing in on Junior Rioli

Wednesday August 31

Port Adelaide have put their best foot forward in their pursuit for West Coast forward Junior Rioli, as the club attempts to replace the recently retired Robbie Gray.

West Australian journalist Ryan Daniels understands that the Power had made an "aggressive offer" to Rioli despite West Coast remaining confident about his re-signing.

Power set to make play for Grundy

Tuesday August 30

Port Adelaide are set to make a big play for Collingwood's Brodie Grundy, as speculation continues to build surrounding his future at the Pies.

According to 7 News Adelaide the Power are keen to get the South Australian back to his home state as the Magpies look to reshuffle their finances.

Ross the Boss in line for Bombers job

Tuesday August 30

Ross Lyon looks primed to be asked to lead Essendon in 2023 and beyond, with the club making preliminary steps in their search for a senior coach.

According to SEN's Sam Edmund, senior Bomber players are keen on getting Lyon into the club, with reports suggesting the club needs a defensive, disciplined approach.

“The feedback I’ve been given is that some of the big names in that playing group want a strong hand. Someone to really come in and take the bull by the horns — Ross Lyon would obviously be that man,” Edmund said.

“That might have been to protect them from having egg on their face in the chance they do go a for a first timer, but with Ross Lyon, I’m told that’s who the players would want.”

Zurhaar's decision got harder with apparent Bombers offer

Tuesday August 30

Essendon has shown strong interest in North Melbourne's matchwinner Cam Zurhaar, as the club attempts to lure him to Tullamarine.

In the midst of Kangaroos turmoil, recently signed coach Alastair Clarkson is reportedly trying to convince Zurhaar to stay, despite the Bombers prepared to put forward a big offer.

According to the Herald Sun, the club is ready to put a long-term deal to acquire the 24-year-old from Arden Street.

Fremantle's Tucker being looked at by rival clubs

Tuesday August 30

Darcy Tucker is attracting interest from rival clubs, with Victorian sides circling for the Fremantle midfielder.

Struggling to break into the senior side, Tucker has played 14 games in 2022 (two as the sub), but has found himself in the WAFL at times as the new young wave comes through.

Essendon has put their hand up as a potential suitor and have reportedly seen him as a centre square mid, a position he will not get at the Dockers, according to the Herald Sun.

McKenna eyeing off surprise AFL return

Carlton's Dow urged to look elsewhere

Monday August 29

Paddy Dow has been urged to look at rival clubs for more opportunity, with the 22-year-old playing only four games this year.

Despite dominating in the VFL for most of the year, Dow has been overlooked by coach Michael Voss and former Carlton skipper Marc Murphy believes he should look elsewhere, according to Fox Sports.

“I was just surprised he didn’t get much of a look in at Carlton (this year),” Murphy said.

“I’m just more thinking for him he probably needs to explore another opportunity and try and resurrect an AFL career, which has just stalled at the moment.

“You don’t have to overpay him, I wouldn’t have thought. You’d probably incentivise (that contract).”

Tom Browne revealed earlier in the year that Richmond and Geelong are in the mix for Dow's services.

GWS pursuing Bedford in bid for small forward

Monday August 29

GWS have been reported to have shown interest in Melbourne forward Toby Bedford, with the 22-year-old potentially seeking more opportunities.

According to Zero Hanger, the Giants have showed their cards and could acquire Bedford in the off-season.

Playing 16 games in 2022 (eight as sub), Bedford was electric and proving to be another viable small forward option for Simon Goodwin.

However, he's struggled to cement his spot in the side and could look at rival clubs, especially being out of contract at the end of the year.

Power keeping tabs on Rioli

Saturday August 27

Port Adelaide have their eyes of Junior Rioli, as the West Coast forward is yet to re-sign with the club.

According to AFL.com.au, the Power are not the only club interested in the goal scorer with North Melbourne circling also.

The 27-year-old also has ties to Victoria, seeing as he boarded at Xavier College before he joined the SANFL.

Saturday August 27

Saturday August 27

Adelaide's Fischer McAsey looks likely to move to Carlton in the off-season, as the out-of-favour Crow seeks more opportunity.

“They need some more key defensive stocks. I think they need quality defenders … they probably need one more.”

"It's certainly great news for the club to hear that Karl wants to be a part of what we are building here at Hawthorn," Hawks list manager Mark McKenzie said.

“Karl complements our current list strategy and the direction we are taking as a club.”

Soon-to-be CEO Simon Lethlean spoke on the potential of De Goey changing guernseys in the off-season.

"We have done work on Jordan De Goey along with all other players that are out as free agents or tradeable players this year, but De Goey is the topical one at the moment," Lethlean said.

"We are interested in De Goey and up until such time as he says he is staying at the Pies we will keep monitoring his situation and speak with his management."

Max Gawn reveals Brodie Grundy chat as Melbourne ramps up pursuit

Wednesday August 24

Melbourne skipper Max Gawn has revealed he has talked to Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy about a move to the Demons next season.

With Luke Jackson likely to join to Fremantle, Melbourne are keen on snaring Grundy to play alongside Gawn in a dream ruck partnership.

While he wouldn't go into the specific conversation, Gawn revealed to the Herald Sun he had chatted to Grundy recently about his future.

“When I casually saw Brodie just walking down the street it was good, I just bumped into him,” Gawn said.

“At the moment I am just worried about rucking with “Dogga” – Luke Jackson – and he has still got a Melbourne jumper on so I’m not going to entertain those (Grundy) conversations, because I feel like I have got the chance to go somewhere pretty special with Luke this year.”

It's understood Collingwood is considering trading Grundy - who is three years into a seven season deal - after the quality form shown by Darcy Cameron while the no.1 ruck was injured.

Geelong preparing to pull big heist

Wednesday August 24

Geelong are right into the thick of things, as they prepare to woo both Brodie Grundy and Jacob Hopper down to Kardinia Park for 2023.

According to reports, Hopper has always been a part of the Cats' plan to rejuvenate their ageing list, despite being contracted with the Giants for one more season.

However, Grundy's name was chucked into the mix to potentially fill the void that's troubled Geelong for years, with Rhys Stanley being a hit-and-miss ruckman.

SEN's Sam Edmund reported that the Cats could be on the verge of luring another big name to the club, with Jeremy Cameron and Patrick Dangerfield coming across in recent years.

Acres onto a third club?

Wednesday August 24

Fremantle's Blake Acres could be on the way to a third club, as the pair cannot come to a conclusion surrounding his new deal, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Carlton and North Melbourne have put their hats in the ring for Acres' services, which could become a possibility given the likely reshuffling due to Luke Jackson's more-than-likely arrival.

“Blake Acres is a player that’s been put on the radar of quite a few clubs,” Edmund said.

“I think North Melbourne might be another one as well.

“But the bottom line is they’re a fair way apart at the moment, player and club.”

Another club enters race for Brodie Grundy

Tuesday August 23

Hawthorn has joined Melbourne, Port Adelaide and GWS in their interest of acquiring contracted Collingwood player Brodie Grundy.

Clarko confirms talks with former Hawks player

Tuesday August 23

North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson has confirmed talks with Bradley Hill, with the potential that the former Hawk could seek a fourth AFL club.

With the possibility of reuniting at Arden Street, Clarkson said on Fox Footy’s On the Couch that he hasn't officially sat down with Hill but is open to a mature conversation.

"I think Hilly would look alright in blue and white," Clarkson said.

“There's a lot to play out, there’s speculation and I think the game is becoming more mature."

Rankine request set to happen

Tuesday August 23

Gold Coast forward Izak Rankine is set to request a trade back to his home state, South Australia, with Adelaide to be believed as the front runners for his signature.

In a breakout year, Rankine was electric up forward, putting his skills on display and terrorising opposition.

However, the lure of home and a reportedly big offer from the Crows, according to the Herald Sun, has the 22-year-old weighing up his future.

Amon informs Power of his decision to explore options

Tuesday August 23

Karl Amon has informed Port Adelaide of his decision to explore his free agency rights.

Having been linked with Hawthorn early on in the piece, it seems likely that Amon will land at the Hawks unless something goes askew.

The 27-year-old has been a fine contributor for the Power but his decision to return to his home state, Victoria, was too big too pass on.

Bradley Hill open to fourth AFL club

Thursday August 18

St Kilda's Brad Hill has been reported to be open to a move to a fourth AFL club, despite having two years left on his contract.

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey suggested that the former Hawk and Docker is contemplating another move as the winger has struggled to find consistent form since crossing to the Saints.

“He has two years to go on his contract, but my understanding is he’s open to a potential trade which of course would be his fourth AFL club across his career," Twomey said.

“He’s had three years at the Saints and been shuffled around in different roles. He really hasn’t got going, clearly, to his previous form."

North Melbourne has been flagged as a potential destination given the Alastair Clarkson link.

Tigers edge past Pies in pursuit of Giants signature

Thursday August 18

Richmond have jumped ahead of Collingwood in its pursuit of signing GWS player Tim Taranto.

With so much uncertainty at the Giants and limited spots in the midfield, Taranto has found himself on the outer at times and is more suited to a full-time rover role.

The Tigers and Pies are vying for the out-of-contract star's services in 2023, with the former to believed ahead of their rivals.

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey believes Taranto could end up at Punt Road.

“I think the Tigers have edged ahead (of Collingwood) for Taranto,” Twomey reported on SEN Breakfast.

Collingwood sets sights on Adelaide tall

Thursday August 18

Collingwood has shown interest in yet another player heading into the off-season, with Adelaide's Billy Frampton seen as a potential acquisition.

Keen to bolster their key tall stocks, Frampton would come in at a fraction of the price of an established player, helping build the youth coming through at the Pies.

The former Power has played 24 games since being drafted in 2014 and a has been out-of-favour with the Crows, struggling to string consistent games together.

Already looking like landing Daniel McStay and Bobby Hill, the Pies seem like they'll be very active this off-season as they attempt to remain relevant in the competition.

Out-of-favour Swan looking for a trade

Thursday August 18

Swans defender Lewis Melican is willing to consider a trade in the offseason, seeking more opportunities.

With the emergence of Tom McCartin and the recruitment of his brother, Paddy, Melican has struggled to assert himself onto the senior side, having not played since last year's elimination final.

With key defender stocks relatively low across the competition, the 24-year-old could have plenty of suitors despite being contracted to the end of 2023, according to AFL.com.au.

Is Luke Breust available in 2023?

Wednesday August 17

Veteran goal kicker Luke Breust's name has come up again in conversation, with reports suggesting Hawthorn are looking to go down the more youthful approach.

AFL's Cal Twomey suggested that Breust is still wanting to win a flag and could be a suitor to a team in its premiership window, although there's no movement that the Hawks don't want the premiership player.

Flagged for a move last season, GWS showed interest in the then 30-year-old and could put their hand up again for the goal sneak despite him being contracted until the end of next year.

Brisbane eyeing off Jack

Wednesday August 17

The Lions have shown interest in Hawthorn veteran Jack Gunston, with the club looking at replacing the likely move of Daniel McStay.

The Herald Sun reported that Gunston, who is a free agent, has the ability to explore his options while the Hawks start to rebuild under coach Sam Mitchell.

The 30-year-old still has plenty of good footy in him and could remain in the brown and gold, but could be swayed by the potential of another flag.

Brisbane haven't spoken to Gunston directly but are set to.

Logue tipped to depart the Dockers

Wednesday August 17

Fremantle defender Griffin Logue has been tipped to depart the West Australian team, amid speculation big offers have come from rival clubs.

Who will be Essendon's coach in 2023?

Tuesday August 16

Essendon senior coach Ben Rutten appears to be in the firing line, as the club reviews its entire processes to seek immediate improvement.

Following an 86-point loss to Port Adelaide, rumours started swirling that the board reviewed Rutten's position and found that he wouldn't be the man to take the Bombers forward.

Despite initial speculation, the former Crows player still has his job at Essendon, but it has come under fire, especially given the looming potential of signing Alastair Clarkson.

Although being linked to North Melbourne and GWS, the Bombers could enter the race for the legendary Hawthorn coach if they elect to sack Rutten.

Crow Rowe on sights of Bulldogs

Monday August 15

Small Adelaide forward James Rowe has been touted by the Western Bulldogs, with the club apparently keeping close eyes on the 22-year-old.

The Dogs have lacked small forward presence at times this year, with Cody Weightman and Rhylee West missing through injury and form.

However, Rowe could be a handy addition to Luke Beveridge's side, who's been in their sights since the draft.

According to ZeroHanger, the youngster could be in line to replace a Mitch Wallis on the list, with father-son nearing retirement.

McAsey shown firm interest by rival club

Monday August 15

Adelaide's Fischer McAsey has struggled since being selected by pick six in the 2019, playing only 10 games in 2020.

Fallen well behind Darcy Fogarty, Riley Thilthorpe, Jordon Butts, Nick Murray and Billy Frampton, opportunities haven't come for McAsey, with Carlton ready to pounce.

According to RSN's Mark Stevens, McAsey is highly likely to venture to Ikon Park at season's end.

"A Melbourne boy, you can write this one down... Carlton, they're all over Fischer McAsey. I believed he'll be at the Blues next year," Stevens said.

"They need some more key defensive stocks. I think they need quality defenders... they probably need one more."

Another potential suitor for Grundy unveiled

Friday August 12

Hawthorn has remained quiet in its pursuit of Collingwood's Brodie Grundy but the retirement of club legend Ben McEvoy has opened up a ruck spot for the Hawks.

Although there hasn't been any word from the Hawks about the potential acquisition of Grundy, the club has been flagged as a destination for the two-time All-Australian.

CEO Justin Reeves acknowledged Grundy's talent, but stayed clear of indicating Hawthorn's intention.

“That’s one for Mark McKenzie (list manager). I know that’s a cop out but the reality is there are so many variables in that," Reeves said on SEN.

“He’s probably got plenty of footy left in him, I don’t know the figures of his contract but what we should say is you look at every opportunity that you think would make your football club better.”

Third club shows interest in Josh Dunkley

Thursday August 11

Brisbane is the latest club to show interest in out-of-contract Dog Josh Dunkley, joining Port Adelaide and Essendon.

AFL's Cal Twomey reported that the Lions have put Dunkley on notice as part of their future and could be a potential destination if he leaves the Kennel.

“Brisbane, I understand, have a level of interest in him as well, joining the likes of Port Adelaide and Essendon, who have been linked to him for a little bit longer," Twomey said.

“But I’m led to believe the Lions to be in the mix as well. He has a link in Queensland too where his sister Lara plays netball with the Queensland Firebirds."

Rioli's reunite at Punt Road?

Thursday August 11

Willie Rioli is yet to re-sign with West Coast, as speculation is starting to build over whether his future is at the Eagles.

Fremantle legend Paul Hasleby has publicly stated a move to Richmond would be ideal for Rioli, joining family members Daniel and Maurice at Punt Road.

“It’s just strange at this time of year, you look at the uncontracted players and Willie Rioli is still there,” said Hasleby.

“With what’s happened with his family circumstances and his old man passing away, being close to family, cousins, nephews, it makes a lot of sense to go there.

“Maybe Damien Hardwick can get the absolute best out of him."

Is Cox departing from the Dockers?

Thursday August 11

Key defender Brennan Cox has been flagged with a potential move to Adelaide, as the West-Torrens product is another name coming out of Fremantle.

As the Crows are in dire need to bolster their defensive stocks, Cox would fit in seamlessly, with 7 News Adelaide reporting there's interest in the 23-year-old's services.

However, Cox is contracted until the end of 2024 and could be a problem if Adelaide are trying to secure him.

Grundy meets with fellow flag contender

Wednesday August 10

Amid speculation that Brodie Grundy won't be at Collingwood in 2023, Sam McClure has reported that the two-time All-Australian has met with flag contenders and 2021 premiers Melbourne.

“Brodie Grundy has met with Melbourne in recent days,” McClure revealed on Sportsday.

“Simon Goodwin was definitely there, Alan Richardson was definitely there, and Max Gawn was definitely there."

With Luke Jackson seeming more than likely to depart from the Demons and head to Fremantle, it appears there'll be a vacant ruck position for someone to fill and Grundy could be that player.

Geelong has also flagged their interest in the Collingwood ruckman, according to the Herald Sun.

De Goey set for one more chance at Collingwood

Tuesday August 9

Collingwood are set to offer bad-boy Jordan De Goey another contract, despite talks that he may be seen elsewhere given his off-field indiscretions.

Since the infamous Bali incident earlier this year, De Goey has played three games, one of which he injured his quad and was rested for multiple weeks.

Since returning, the restricted free agent has been arguably the Pies' best in games against Port Adelaide and Melbourne, returning to his powerful self that we saw back in 2018.

Given his recent run of form, it seems that Collingwood would like to keep the 26-year-old but on their teams, with Herald Sun reporting that there could be "behavioural clauses in an incentivised-based deal."

Will Zurhaar re-sign? Or will opposing clubs swoop?

Tuesday August 9

North Melbourne forward Cam Zurhaar has yet to re-sign with the Kangaroos, despite the contract being in front of him for the past two months.

Essendon have flagged their interest in Zurhaar, stating the intentions to get a bigger midfielder into the side that'll help complement Zach Merrett, Jye Caldwell and Dylan Shiel.

SEN's Sam Edmund believes the Bombers will try persuade the forward/midfielder out of Arden Street, despite belief that he'll stay put.

Heppell intrigued by rival clubs offer

Tuesday August 9

Essendon captain Dyson Heppell is reportedly 'tempted' by the Gold Coast's offer.

A potential four-year deal was put in front of the 30-year-old, which is likely to include two as a player and two as an assistant coach, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Despite wanting to finish his career at the Bombers, there has been speculation over Heppell's future at Tullamarine and he could be seen in new colours in 2023.

Is West Coast's Kennedy an option?

Tuesday August 9

Recently retired West Coast legend Josh Kennedy should be targeted by clubs in desperate need of a key forward, with media personality Kane Cornes flagging Collingwood and Melbourne as potential suitors.

Fresh off his eight-goal farewell game, Kennedy has hung up the boots, however, Cornes thinks clubs should be trying to keep him on the park.

“If I was a Melbourne or a Collingwood I’d be trying to get this guy out of retirement, look at what he did (against Adelaide),” he said on Channel 9’s Footy Classified.

“Sell it to him — you don’t have to train until January, we’re going to pay you a good contract for two years., you’ll play 16-17 games for the year."

Lance Franklin to Brisbane? Lions respond

Friday August 5

Brisbane Lions have confirmed they will entertain the prospect of Lance Franklin joining the club next season after rumours emerged the Sydney legend wants a move north.

A unnamed Lions official told the Herald Sun the club had not spoken to Franklin, but would like to if he was interested in playing at the Gabba next season.

"But if he wants to move to Queensland we would have a chat," the Lions official said.

With Franklin close to the conclusion of his nine-year deal with Sydney, the superstar forward wants to continue his career in Queensland and be closer to family on the Gold Coast, according to Nine News reporter Michael Atkinson.

The report also states Franklin is only interested in a move to the Lions, who are in the premiership window, and not the developing Gold Coast Suns.

Brisbane are likely to lose third choice tall forward Daniel McStay as a free agent to Collingwood, meaning Franklin could slot in alongside Charlie Cameron, Joe Daniher and Eric Hipwood in a mouthwatering attacking lineup.

“He is growing with interest at Fremantle.”

Amid speculation of Heppell's contract extension at the Bombers, rival sides are potentially gearing up to pry the smooth-moving left footer out, with the Suns being one of those.

Although it's unlikely he'll depart from the red and black, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibilities.

Liam Jones has reportedly nominated the Western Bulldogs in his bid to return to the AFL, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Friday July 29

Gold Coast duo Brayden Fiorini and Sam Flanders have been attracting interest from rival clubs, in the hope of "securing another Will Brodie-style bargain", according to the Herald Sun.

Despite both having contracts until the end of next year, the pair could seek more opportunities elsewhere.

Fiorini has played 14 games in 2022 (two as the sub) and has struggled to cement a spot in Stuart Dew's side.

Flanders has had less luck, taking the field a measly seven times this year.

However, it is reported that both are happy to stay at the Suns.

Hawks set to land Karl Amon

Pickett is one to watch

Friday July 29

South and West Australian clubs will be coming hard for Demon small forward Kysaiah Pickett, despite having a year left on his contract.

Pickett - who grew up in outback WA and moved to Adelaide to be with uncle Byron Pickett - doesn't love living in a big city like Melbourne but has been reported to be enjoying his time in Victoria, says the Herald Sun.

“Rival clubs are watching that one with some interest given the lack of key position players on the free agency market," Twomey said on SEN's Breakfast.

Originally from Queenscliff in Victoria, Gardiner is deemed likely to stay at Brisbane but a hail-mary offer may pry the back man out of the sunshine state.

Will Hayward should be in Adelaide's priority list

Tuesday July 26

Initially from North Adelaide, Hayward has been a strong performer for Sydney over the past couple seasons but will struggled to get any midfield minutes.

The 23-year-old has been deployed as a mobile forward, but Cornes suggests his signature should be a priority if he wanted to leave.

“We know contracts don’t mean a lot,” Cornes told SEN SA Breakfast.

“If he decided he wanted to come home, I’d offer him big money, I think he’s an absolute gun.

“Will Hayward would be priority No. 1 for me if I was the Crows.”

The return of Liam Jones?

Friday July 8

Lobb is in career-best form this year, kicking 27 goals from his 14 outings and only kept goalless on one occasion.

The Dockers are still extremely interested in acquiring WA-product Luke Jackson and it could cause a domino of trades if they were to pry him out of Melbourne, including opening up Lobb's position in the side.

Senior AFL reporter Jon Ralph revealed Fremantle are "extremely confident" in signing the 2021 Rising Star and could be a like-for-like in a series of exchanges expected in the off-season.

Dustin Martin tipped to leave Richmond

Tuesday July 5

Richmond superstar and Brownlow Medallist Dustin Martin has been tipped to leave Punt Road, with reports suggesting a fresh start in Sydney is the preferable location.

Martin took personal leave from rounds 2-7 following the passing of his father, Shane, and was in mourning dealing with private issues.

However, speculation grew that the four-time All-Australian was seeking new colours and New South Wales appealed to the champion footballer, due to its lack of fixation on AFL players.

Jordan De Goey out of lives

Tuesday July 5

Following his latest behaviour indiscretion in Bali, Collingwood's Jordan De Goey could be on the way out, with the free agent set to demand more money.

The Magpies have been put through the ringer with De Goey's off-field incidents over the years and there's growing speculation that there's one too many.

The Pies pulled their offer after the 26-year-old was plastered all over social media suggesting lewd and sexual acts and now will rival other clubs for his services.

St Kilda has been linked to De Goey, while Geelong has been flagged as a great suitor, despite not publicly announcing their interest.

According to SEN, list manager James Gallagher announced he has "touched base" with De Goey's management.

Luke Jackson heading home?

Tuesday July 5

Melbourne premiership player Luke Jackson has been rumoured to be offered large amounts of money on a long-term contract from Fremantle.

Jackson, who is from WA, has been linked to the Dockers for the past month given the home-pull and is potentially deemed a chance to pry out of the reigning premiers camp.

The 2021 Rising Star is yet to sign with the Demons, creating chaos about his 2023 football club.

The Age reported that Melbourne have growing concerns over keeping Jackson, as the lure home may be too much for the young star.

Rory Lobb on the move? Again?

Tuesday July 5

Rory Lobb is expected to request a trade out of Fremantle, following his attempt at the end of 2021.

The former Giant tried to return to his old club but has enjoyed the rise from the Dockers and more success.

Lobb is contracted to the end of 2023, but senior reporter Jon Ralph believes the Western Bulldogs is a suitor for the 29-year-old.

Bobby Hill wants out of GWS

Tuesday July 5

Collingwood are set to make a move for small forward Bobby Hill, a year after he requested a move to Victoria.

Hill, who is currently dealing with testicular cancer, has openly said he'd move to a Melbourne club to be closer to family.

Essendon were the front runner for the 22-year-old's services, but it seems that the Pies may have swooped in this time around.

Herald Sun's Jay Clark announced the Magpies' interest in Hill, as the 175cm seeks to find a new home.

McStay to McGo to Collingwood

Tuesday July 5

Brisbane Lion Daniel McStay is set to move clubs at season's end, exploring his free agent rights to seek another club.

Collingwood has been heavily linked with the key forward and would be seen as a win-win for both camps given the current state of both lists.

The Lions will receive compensation for McStay, likely to be late in the first round and will need that to secure potential no.1 draft pick and father-son Will Ashcroft.

The 27-year-old has recently met with Collingwood and according to Jon Ralph is "keen to get back to Melbourne, and of course play at Collingwood."
