AFL trade: Fremantle Dockers, not Melbourne Demons, holding up Jesse Hogan trade image

The impending move of Jesse Hogan from Melbourne to Fremantle is expected to go through before the end of the trade period, but reports on Tuesday suggest it is the Dockers that are driving a hard bargain, not the Demons.

Hogan’s move home to Western Australia has seemingly been on the cards for a couple of years despite Melbourne’s insistence the key forward is untradeable.

However, the Demons may not be the ones driving a hard bargain.

“I don’t think Fremantle are as keen on Hogan as everyone thinks they are,” Tom Browne told Triple M’s Hot Breakfast on Tuesday.

“There’s a bit to play out there, (the Dockers) will play hardball as well.

“Melbourne are more keen on getting rid of Hogan than Fremantle are in getting him.

“He’ll eventually get to Fremantle, but it’s a complicated deal.”

At the moment the Dockers only hold two picks in the upcoming draft, numbers six and 80, and are hoping to land contracted GWS ruckman Rory Lobb.

The lack of trade currency means they will have no choice but to send Lachie Neale to Brisbane if they are to have a first round selection spare to hand Melbourne, but it’s believed Fremantle is insisting the Demons send another pick back with Hogan.
