Carlton's Jack Martin could make room for the crucial clash against Geelong in round two after a disappointing outing in the season opener last week.

Martin gathered six disposals from 71 per cent game time and laid three tackles but ultimately had no impact on the result.

The 28-year-old has teased Blues fans for years with his talent and skill but may make way for small, pressure forward Corey Durdin, who is returning from injury.

Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew has some decisions to make, especially up in the forward line.

In round one, they fielded a top-heavy front six and it didn't work in the conditions and could look to inject some speed into the team.

There's no chance that Ben King, Mabior Chol and Levi Casboult get dropped, leaving a vulnerable Jack Lukosius or Joel Jeffrey.

The pair had no influence on the match, combining for one goal and 18 touches in the loss to Sydney.

Lachie Weller is set to come back from an ACL injury which means either Lukosius or Jeffrey could be expensed for their clash against Essendon.

West Coast are another club who will be disappointed with their output in round one, going down to inexperienced side North Melbourne by five points.

Should Adam Simpson call out some of his experienced players? Or unveil some more youngsters?

Xavier O'Neil looks to be on the chopping block for his eight-touch game on Saturday.

Jai Culley and Elijah Hewett are pushing their case for selection if Simpson were to make some changes.

The Western Bulldogs will also look at rearranging some of their starting line-up from their round one belting at the hands of Melbourne.

Rory Lobb's injury opens the door for a small forward to come in but the performance from Toby McLean, Mitch Hannan and Jason Johannisen was underwhelming.

The trio collected 17 possessions and laid three tackles between them, while Johannisen was the only goal kicker.

Rhylee West was a regular in 2022 and could come in as a pressure forward while coach Luke Beveridge might look at adding some pace across the half backline with Hayden Crozier or Buku Khamis for the Saints.

Fremantle's Nat Fyfe is also a watch-this-space after his uncharacteristically poor performance over the weekend.

Playing as a stay-at-home forward, Fyfe gathered a measly nine disposals, seven marks and one behind.

The two-time Brownlow Medalist looked slow and off the pace, which could be attributed to his time away from the game due to injury.

Albeit near impossible to drop Fyfe, Justin Longmuir might have to consider rearranging his round one line-up going forward.
