It's time for preliminary final action in the AFL.

Sydney will be without their captain, while Port Adelaide may be boosted by a returning duo.

In the second game, Geelong have some decisions to make as they take on a likely unchanged Brisbane side.

Sydney vs. Port Adelaide teams

Sydney will need to replace Callum Mills on Friday after the captain suffered a hamstring injury in training, which will see him miss one to two weeks of action. Taylor Adams and Robbie Fox are both experienced candidates, while Caiden Cleary and Corey Warner are also options.

Jacob Konstanty has had surgery on his foot but didn't feature against GWS, so no changes will need to be made there.

As for Port Adelaide, Ryan Burton has a chance to return, potentially in place of medium defender Josh Sinn.

Charlie Dixon – who was a late out last week with illness – is set to be available. With Todd Marshall out with concussion, he could earn himself a start.

Kane Farrell, meanwhile, won't play this week as he nurses a hamstring injury.

Geelong vs. Brisbane teams

Tom Stewart will be back on deck this weekend, potentially at the expense of Oisin Mullin.

They also have some decisions to make regarding the returning trio of Tom HawkinsSam De Koning and Cam Guthrie. Hawkins could come in for Shannon Neale, but that is far from guaranteed. Outside of that, it may be hard to find places for De Koning and Guthrie considering the side's demolition of Port Adelaide in the qualifying finals.

No changes are expected for Brisbane.

Lachie Neale has been nursing a foot issue but is all but set to feature, while Jack Payne has overcome a knee concern.
